My first experience with this fragrance was strange, just as I was starting out in this world. On first sniff, it seemed extremely odd, something I’d smelled before but didn’t know where from, so I searched my deepest memories. Months passed before I realised its great beauty. I had a decant and smelled it again months later; everything changed there, I was amazed by that great scent and didn’t hesitate to buy the bottle as soon as possible. It’s a somewhat expensive perfume, but it’s worth it. It has great staying power, a very masculine scent, and denotes presence. It’s as if you soaked dry, crisp tobacco leaves in some aged rum. The opening is a cardamom bomb adorned with that tobacco. Highly recommended.
I tested it on days over 36°C and it’s insane; even in the cold, it’s one of the most potent perfumes I’ve owned. It represents presence, class, security, and power. It has a very potent and delicious woody base. The dry-down is similar to Santal 33: smoky with that cardamom giving it a punch. I highly recommend it if the price isn’t an issue.
If you’re a tobacco lover, you must have it; it’s among the best you’ll find. It’s expensive, but for me, it’s totally worth it.
It tasted delicious, almost like a jewel. If you enjoy tobacco, wood, and rum, you must own it. The downside is that in Mexico it’s only sold in September and it’s pricey. The opening smells like a fresh puro or habano (straight from the box or humidor) with a light rum touch; as it dries down, the woods emerge and the rum fades, but the fresh tobacco and woods remain. The longevity could be better: on my skin it lasted about six hours before I stopped noticing it.
The tobacco note comes out strong and lasts an hour, with a bittering touch and cedar that evokes a cowboy in dusty jeans. It then becomes very similar to Le Labo: a Santal 33-style sandalwood with a subtle boozy nuance. It’s not a beast in terms of projection, but it works well with its composition. Given the exorbitant price (like almost everything from Le Labo), I don’t think it’s worth the splurge; better to try a decant, look for a good dupe, or layer it with Santal 33 and Rania J.’s T. Habanero.
