  • Coriandre 39 is the fragrance from The Labo’s City exclusive collection, based on CDMX. Its idea is to recreate walks through Chapultepec or afternoons in Condesa, and although that has nothing to do with its scent, it doesn’t detract from the fragrance’s beauty (which has more notes than declared). On opening, you notice a hint of coriander, because it’s the lime and galbanum (which I hate) that carry the spicy aroma along with the pepper. As minutes pass, it leaves that citrus side, not the spicy one, which persists in the drydown and hours later, when it stops feeling so green to become something creamy and soapy with soft moss. In the end, after about 3 hours, it seems you’re wearing The Matcha 26 on your skin, just with spicy touches. Clean, musky, very pleasant and comfortable. Unlike The Matcha 26, which I love madly, Coriandre 39 seems more unisex and even masculine to me because of that lingering spicy hint. I consider it a good addition for spring or autumn, not for hot places or summer. The longevity is good, over 12 hours on skin and about 6 on trail. To be the perfume representing my city, it passes with flying colours.

  • I couldn’t find any coriander, nor a walk through Chapultepec, nor coffee in Condesa. If they’d included Lime 39 or Pepper 41, what else would they have given? It doesn’t smell bad, but it certainly doesn’t justify its price. An epic fail from this house.

  • The exclusive for beautiful CDMX is very potent at first, reminiscent of jalapeño chilies, but its drydown is good, though it becomes very woody and linear. It’s not unpleasant, but I still need to understand it better; perhaps I’ll buy the 50ml bottle with time and understand it more. I live in a hot place and it lasts barely 8 hours without issue.

  • Well, the only thing I found was the smell of Mexican salsa, and honestly, I don’t want to walk around smelling like a taco stand. I tried it, and I’m not going to waste that money on such an unpleasant scent.

  • It’s herbal, fresh and pleasant, but the price doesn’t justify it. One of the few perfumes I consider purely unisex.

Forget the tacos and pico de gallo; that’s pure invention. It’s such a dense citrus concentrate it smells like floor cleaner. Cilantro would have given it a sober, herbal touch, but where did they get the idea that coriander seed smells like Mexican food? The leaf is something else entirely; don’t put such odd ideas in people’s heads.
