Green leaves tea and magnolia at the start. Indeed the opening of Elephant is totally green and ‘fresh’ with a floral touch in the background. The green nuances remind of crushed tree leaves and wet grass. Straight away comes a creamy and juicy coconut alongside the sandalwood giving a milky sensation but nothing cloying. The greens don’t disappear while the florals lose potency. On the dry down an unexpected bitter cocoa emerges with the coconut and the greens. This cocoa is subtle but evident on my skin and very pleasant not excessively bitter nor sweet it mixes brilliantly. Spectacular performance; I can’t stop smelling it for hours. Totally unisex can be used in any weather especially temperate. I’ve loved it. An incredibly original perfume with a surprising evolution; that final cocoa wasn’t expected by me. It has good performance but against it its high price.

Wow spectacular opening. It’s literally an environment with elephants eating green branches leaves and little flowers. Very green and with radioactive potency until you’re left with the taste of crushed herbs in your mouth. That opening lasts ufff about 40 minutes. Then little by little more flirtatious notes come out more ‘perfume’ notes and not fodder for cows or elephants let’s not lose the romance. The dry down is rich slightly creamy like cocoa powder and coconut almost like coconut shavings chocolates. Very important to try it before buying. As I say that 40-minute opening is by no means a perfume scent.

  • Literally lives up to its name: it smells like a rainy Indian forest where a herd of elephants has trampled plants. The opening is intense herbs and stagnant water; at times it reaches unpleasant levels. After two hours it softens giving a dark creamy green due to the coconut and sandalwood. A fragrance that not everyone will like but it invites you to imagine yourself in the tropical habitat of these animals. Scent: 6.8 Originality: 8.7 Versatility: 6 Quality: 8.3 Sillage: 9 Longevity: 8.8 Design: 8.6. Total: 7.1. Notes: crushed herbs. Feeling: swamp and elephants.

  • The opening of Elephant is green to death: it smells like sticky banana leaves almost like Halloween. But that green fades into the background and other nuances emerge: roasted bitter cocoa fleshy and waxy magnolia sweet incense and dry and damp woods. Drying down in summer (about 2 hours) the incense takes over not the church kind but the one sweetened with cocoa and coconut milk giving the impression of burnt wood. Pity that it’s gone after 4 hours no matter how much you smell it on your arm. It’s pretty and evocative though the banana note doesn’t convince me and I wouldn’t put it in the top 5. It brings to mind Asian jungles looks unisex and perfect for summer nights. It’s potent and requires character. I love it; it’s super original. But the longevity stops me from buying. Pleasant: 8/10 Interesting: 10/10 Versatile: 8/10 Original: 10/10.

Total surprise. Smells like being outdoors in the heat green leaves crushed between your hands and pieces of wood. It has those soft milky notes with a very real natural cocoa powder. It’s an incredible sensory experience.

  • Rich beast. At first I had the same experience with the Panda and Tiger decants; I wanted to be sure before spending on Zoologist. Elephant projected like crazy but the scent had me at my wit’s end so I went with Panda as it was more wearable. Weeks passed and while working I sprayed the sample on a drying rack and that’s when it won me over. I left it about 40cm away and suddenly it all made sense: at first it smells like trampled grass as if you’re crushing plants in your hand then comes the creamy coconut or sandalwood with a bitter cocoa touch. I got lost for hours and when I returned my room smelled of it. At a family dinner the first question was ‘Why does it smell so much like Raid?’ (that insecticide over here) and I laughed at the madness. Now I have the bottle and it’s my favourite of the brand.
