Disappointment. A hint of incense (barely burnt), with some musk and little else. Bland, insipid, and the dry-down is quite meh and generic. I don’t think it’s worth paying €94 for 50ml of this.
I cannot find the frankincense anywhere. None of them have that frankincense like Loewe 7. Very expensive for the result this perfume delivers, which smells very much of plastic.

I was given a sample and tried it several times. It’s a nice scent but not surprising; I expected much more. It smells like straight out of the shower, with a slight talcum powder note. Very subtle and soft. There’s a tiny hint of incense, barely noticeable. It has no projection or sillage. If it were cheap, I’d buy it for post-shower use or wearing around the house, perhaps when going to the shops. It’s a unisex scent; even a child could wear it; it’s innocent.
I was gifted a sample and tried it several times. It seems a rich scent but does not surprise me; I expected much more. It smells like straight out of the shower, has a certain talcum powder note, is very subtle and soft. A hint of frankincense is noticeable, but minimal. It projects nothing and has no significant sillage. If it were cheap, I would buy it for after a bath or for spending the day at home, going out only to do the shopping with no special occasion. It is a unisex scent; even a child could wear it; it is innocent.
Wearing a perfume called ‘The Orphan’ doesn’t sound very commercial or tempting at first… But once I tried it and tamed it, it has become an olfactory staple. I wouldn’t wear it every day, but during long seasons (especially autumn/winter) when my mood and monochrome look call for it, this is what accompanies me. I have already used two bottles and have a refill on the go. It evokes the loneliness of a child, the greyness, and the cold stone of a cemetery on a windy, ugly day. Surprisingly, it is frankincense and musk, cold, grey, and linear, yet it comforts me greatly. Among Serge Lutens, I have Ambre Sultan and Santal Majuscule, and although they are theoretically easier to wear, I simply cannot use them. I do not feel as comfortable with them as I do with L’Orpheline. By the way, I have worn it in spring and summer (indoors) with a suit and white shirt, and I felt fantastic. It does not draw attention (it is a basic perfume) but it neither tires nor overwhelms.
Smells like an adult, not a child (whether orphaned or not), straight out of the shower with La Toja soap. It is the most boring thing my nostrils have encountered lately.
