  Serge Lutens, I’ll admit they are very personal. Some are utterly unmissable, while others are hard to wear, but L’Eau has a charm, almost childlike. It is aldehydic, musky, and has a floral distinction that I adore. It smells clean, a little retro, and makes you feel great. The citrus touch is sweet, with a morning magnolia, fresh and natural, fleshy petals, wet, and with that soap scent. It’s distinct, with that soapy luxury air that reminds you of a costly, aromatic soap. As my friend said: ‘L’ Eau is L’Eau’. It’s just like that, uncomplicated. Either you like it or you don’t. But that clean, nostalgic vibe suits me. A good fragrance from Lutens and, above all, wearable.

  L’Eau is like a Scent Skin: soft, light, and comfortable. The citrus opening isn’t as fresh or sparkling as it should be; it feels a bit sharp and artificial, though nothing unpleasant. Soon the aldehydes, green and herbal notes enter in just the right measure, and the magnolia balances everything and brightens it up. As it evolves, it gains that powdery character from the musk, discreet and measured. An undeclared wood note, like cedar, dry as a graphite pencil, appears to accompany the musk almost until the end. I highlight the good balance, longevity, and the work with the aldehydes, but it lacks quality, projection, sparkle, and soul. Rating: 5.5
