My first foray into niche fragrance and it has been a disappointment. I paid a fortune expecting magic, but it smells like an elderly lady, synthetic vanilla, and bubblegum. As a designer scent, it’s brilliant. Neither I nor my circle could stand it. Fortunately, they sent me a sample of Ylang Gold and that one I actually liked. Forget the Watch.
The scent is a slap of neroli, vanilla, and sweet peach that gives you energy and good vibes. It’s delicious yet complex, not suitable for diabetics. At first, it’s a creamy, youthful blend, then the neroli dances with the vanilla and a musky touch. Yes, it smells a bit synthetic, but it’s delightful. It’s a beast: a wide trail for the first four hours and lasts days on clothes and skin. It doesn’t matter if it gives you a sweet coma.
It was my first foray into niche perfumes and it disappointed me quite a bit. I expected something incredible given it’s niche, but the impression was that you don’t need to spend a fortune on a good scent. At designer level, it smells strongly of old lady, synthetic vanilla, and bubblegum; neither I nor my circle liked it. With the purchase, they sent me a sample of Ylang Gold and that one I absolutely loved. I wouldn’t recommend Watch.
For me, the Watch is 95% sweet neroli, those notes that smell like bubblegum to many. The rest is a fruity opening and a vanilla dry-down with a powdery hint. I wear it for dinners and semi-formal events; it’s not original or groundbreaking, but very feminine. On me, it has a notable trail and lasts over 10 hours. I’m not sure if they reformulated the juice, but they did change the bottle. I prefer the old bottle; the new one is minimalist but the old one feels more original. Scent 7.5/10, longevity 10/10, sillage 8/10, value for money 7/10, versatility 7.5/10, packaging 7.5/10. Yes, I would buy it again.

It’s perfect for dinner at home or semi-formal events; nothing revolutionary, but very feminine. On my skin, it leaves a noticeable trail and lasts over 10 hours. I’m not sure if it’s been reformulated, but they did change the bottle; I prefer the old one, the new is more modern but less original. Scent 7.5/10, longevity 10/10, sillage 8/10, value for money 7/10, versatility 7.5/10, packaging 7.5/10. Would I buy again? Yes.
To be honest, I haven’t parted with it because the bottle is spectacular. The scent is practically identical to Velvet Vanille and Truth or Dare, which I already owned and sold. It’s sweet beyond belief, smells like banana bubblegum that tickles your molars, and doesn’t evolve at all, so it never moves to a phase I’d enjoy more. It’s not for me; it comes across as a childish scent.

I absolutely loved it; it was exactly what I hoped for based on rumours of its similarity to Mancera’s Velvet Vanilla, which I’ve already tried. Love Don’t be Shy by Kilian and Velvet Vanilla are different, though the latter is its twin brother: Mancera is greener and less sweet, yet the scent is identical, so if you own one, the other is unnecessary. With Kilian there are similar nuances but they are distinct fragrances. Watch is a marvel: synthetic yet delicious, sweet, creamy, youthful and cheerful, brimming with energy and good vibes. Those expecting something elegant and floral will be disappointed as it has nothing to do with that. The quality is brutal; it’s a bomb in terms of projection and longevity: 12 hours on skin and days on clothes. I adore Watch by Micallef. I recommend it if you seek quality with a bubblegum scent. I tested it alongside Love Don’t be Shy by Kilian and Velvet Vanilla, and without a doubt, Mancera’s is its twin: greener and less sweet, yet the scent is almost identical. So similar that, in my opinion, if you have one, the other is superfluous. Regarding Kilian’s, it has similar nuances but they are different perfumes. Watch is a marvel: synthetic yet delicious, sweet, creamy, youthful and cheerful. It fills you with energy and good vibes. I understand those who were disappointed expecting something elegant and floral, because it has nothing to do with that. The quality is brutal: it’s a bomb in projection and longevity.
