Velvet Vanilla by Mancera is a floral fruity fragrance from the olfactory family, created for men and women. Launched in 2016, this composition features the olfactory signature of Pierre Montale. The top notes unfold with pear, angelica, blackcurrant, pink pepper, mandarin, and cloves; the heart reveals neroli, jasmine, neroli, and rose; while the base notes settle on vanilla and white musk.

I confirm it smells like a banana caramel. It’s sweet, almost cloying. I quite liked it, but you need to use it in moderation so as not to overwhelm people. Excellent longevity and trail; 100% gourmand. If you like very sweet fragrances, I recommend it.
It took me a while to get on with it; the first two times it overwhelmed me and I said it wasn’t for me. But with fresh air, I fell completely in love; it makes me feel good. It’s not elegant, but it’s fantastic for daily wear in cold weather. It lasts a long time and the trail floods rooms. With two sprays at home and three outdoors, I’m more than covered. A bad start with a happy ending; I like it more every day.
I love it! I adore it and it lasts a long time on skin, over 10 hours. It’s very similar to Nasomatto’s Narcotic V due to the narcissus note, but this lasts much longer; the other is lucky to get 4 or 5 hours.
One of my absolute favourites. At first, there are strong notes of musk and neroli, but once it dries down, it’s a vanilla banana bubblegum. It transports me back to my childhood chewing gums. Very feminine and ideal for those who love sweet and gourmand aromas.
One of the best I own. It smells lovely of vanilla and creamy neroli, like red liquorice. The first time everyone took notice of my trail. The more I wear it, the less I notice it, as if my nose gets used to it. It’s not cheap, but it’s a proper treat. Lasts ages on clothes and skin until you have a bath.
A fragrance that captivated me from the very first use; one of the best I own. Full of life, feminine and very sweet. It might be cloying for others, but I adore vanillas and white flowers, which are the stars here. They say it smells like banana bubblegum and yes, it’s a banana treat with creamy vanilla. An addictive, heavy floral-fruit blend. IT’S A BOMB. If you like sweets, you’ll love it, but don’t buy blindly; test it first.
It all comes down to taste. It was my obsession with neroli; I waited two years to get it and what a letdown. They seem too green and gummy, like a cloying fruit salad that makes the neroli unbearable. It smells like banana bubblegum, nothing like the sensuality of other neroli scents. Only for those who love sugar to excess, not for neroli lovers. Don’t buy blindly if it’s pricey.
I thought it would smell like banana sweets… absolutely not! Terrible disappointment. I’ve tried it several times and it smells like clothes burnt by an iron. That exact scorched scent.
Total letdown. My first and last Mancera because they’re not cheap and simply don’t perform here. On my skin it lasts 15–20 minutes, then a faint ghost for another 15, and then nothing. It smells nice, but it’s not rocket science. A real shame.
The one with the spiral cap was a proper banana bomb that lasted all day and masked any other scent, but the magnet version has lost that punch; it’s far more discreet and soft now.
I’m grateful to have tried and smelled this perfume. The opening is more pleasant than the dry down. I didn’t connect with it; it upset my stomach and head from the first whiff. I gave it a second and third chance and definitely didn’t connect with it; the saffron bores me. I recommend smelling and trying in decants; Mancera is something ‘special’.
My first introduction to Mancera was with Roses Vanille, with its curious but lovely profile. So, determined, I ordered a generous decant of Velvet Vanilla after seeing reviews that convinced me. First, as always, I sprayed it on a blotter. One fluff was enough to knock me out. Perhaps I sprayed it too close to my face, but my cat and I had to flee like from a grenade. Too strong. Then I took the blotter and could smell green saffron, vanilla, musk, and that very Mancera sensation of smelling a car air freshener, not a niche perfume. What stands out most is its potency: it lasts forever on skin and clothes and has a trail that borders on murderous. Perhaps the scent isn’t the best. I prefer So Scandal, L’Interdit, or My Way for saffron. Velvet Vanilla doesn’t offer a necessary divergence worth it. What Mancera always offers is excessive force; that’s where its value lies, but excess isn’t good. The saffron in Velvet Vanilla smells like banana bubblegum, as many have noted. The vanilla is so strong it makes your nose hurt. I feel something piercing, herbal and spicy, which could be the angelica and clove accords. It’s very sweet, somewhat powdery. It has a gummy texture, which reminds one of bubblegum. It seems like the smell of a pine cone air freshener to hang in a car’s rearview mirror, but instead of smelling of fake pine, it smells of fake saffron. I smell my wrist and feel it fatigues me immediately. Right now I have a spray on my neck and each wrist, and I feel it’s too much. Perhaps it’s ideal for those who feel their perfumes don’t last, as Mancera promises longevity and trail and delivers. But definitely not for daily wear; I understand why people like it and my recommendation is to try it before buying, as experiences and tastes vary.
Banana bubaloo bubblegum = Velvet Vanilla, sibling of Vanderbilt by Gloria Vanderbilt. Smell of an old doll, somewhat plastic and synthetic but I like it, smells rich and edible.
I got the new version with the magnetic cap; it has a batch code on the bottle but not on the box. What does this mean? That we started off badly. I wouldn’t buy it again, nor any other Mancera. Never again. Why? If I like it, yes, I do, I love it… BUT it doesn’t last a damn thing. These new magnetic cap versions are a rip-off. They don’t last; after two hours you stop perceiving it and have to reapply. I’d heard it was a ‘bomb’, but I call it smoke and mirrors. For the mega price they have, the performance and longevity are poor. At least in these new reformulations. The scent is a 10 for me, very rich and welcoming, very well-worked vanilla. It’s very sweet, comes out fruity and vanilla-like, then shortly the flowers appear, all kinds, with a pretty and slightly powdery rose. If you over-spray it can become cloying and overwhelming, but don’t worry because after two hours all this disappears. And no, it doesn’t smell like banana sweets to me. A very great pity for my Mancera… with how beautiful it is… too expensive for what it offers. Very bad for Mr Montale; if you cheapen ingredients and fixatives, cheapen the price of the perfumes.
Fruity and sugary saffron; it’s true it smells like confectionery gummies, I like it and it has excellent performance on my skin, a casual and cheerful perfume.
I think the fuss over this perfume is excessive; from my point of view, it’s overrated. It smells good but that’s it; it’s rare for a perfume to smell bad. I’m into fresh and citrus fragrances and I don’t tolerate cloying sweets, and luckily this doesn’t seem overly sweet to me, more like a floral with soft vanilla but a piercing jasmine; it smells like an air freshener. Then it evolves and smells like strawberry bubblegum, like a cologne I had as a teenager from Pimkie shops, the Bubble Gum one, the translucent pink bottle like the liquid. Anyway, I’ll keep trying to see if I discover the quintessence of perfumery in this fragrance because for now… Nanai de la china.
I know about six Mancera fragrances and this was the first one I bought, a real beauty. I’ve never heard anything like it; it was love at first sight, I was wrapped in its delight and felt something familiar, then I realised it was saffron. It’s a delicious gourmand bomb; some might find it complicated because it’s potent. The old screw-top formula was more long-lasting, but this magnetic cap version has good potency and longevity. I consider it beautiful and if you love potent gourmands, I recommend it with my eyes closed. Here in Chile summer is almost over, but I’ve been wearing my beautiful Velvet Vanilla these past days.
This is a beast. I have the magnetic cap version, supposedly reformulated, and it lasts and projects like a monster. Just as there are people who can’t smell Megamare, there will be those who can’t smell Mancera. Half a spray on the hand and even if you put another on top, you can’t cover it. The scent excites me; I thought it would be very feminine and yes, it leans more feminine than masculine, but a man can wear it perfectly. It smells like banana bubblegum with saffron and vanilla, super striking, synthetic like all Mancera and Montale, but absolutely delicious, love at first sight.
Delicious aroma of banana sweets, sweet and creamy. The saffron carries so much vanilla it turns into sugar. Eternal longevity, it doesn’t evolve; you feel that sweet smell all day long.
It’s a fragrance with wonderful performance. I wore it for over 12 hours and I still felt it and others did too. I feel it very floral and sweet, like a nardos candy hehe. It’s true it has that chewy touch but I love it, especially for its quality.
I have the magnetic cap version and compared it to the old screw-top: they last and project equally. It’s a chic, gummy-saffron bomb like a sweet treat. I’ve read that some new batches don’t last, but mine does. I own several Mancera screw-tops and don’t notice a difference; perhaps a specific batch went wrong.
I have this fragrance with the magnetic cap, just like many other Manceras, and this one in particular along with Coco Vanille are brown beasts: they last over 12 hours on skin, on clothes not to mention… sometimes I use it as a room freshener in my hallway; if I spray it on a handkerchief, when I get home I smell like a French patisserie, it beats the Rituals bars, hehe. Who lasts only 2 hours and returns it must have bad luck… Notino no longer accepts returns. Or do they? What has happened that suddenly they no longer stock Montale and therefore Mancera? Does anyone know anything about this? With Turrón and Roses Vanille, for example, it doesn’t last or project half as much, and it has a screw cap… in any case. I think with Mancera it’s not about judging the cap, because then, if it had a screw cap, would it last 22 hours? I hope I showered before… let’s not be so crude, or at least in summer. It’s a tattoo that can become cloying due to its projection and sugary sweetness. Also, one must downplay it and not be too pedantic. If you really like a perfume’s scent and it conveys… what does it matter if it lasts 5, 6, or 8 hours? We’re facing a Mancera, which sins by adding tons of musk (that’s why it fixes so well), until Holidays, Wild Candy, or Choco Violet on me have lower performance, but still, they’re above the average of any commercial perfume. It’s worth noting I’ve read that Wild Candy and Velvet are very similar and I come to confirm it; although they’re different at first, the huge amounts of musk make them practically identical in their dry down, with Velvet being the winning combination.
This perfume is addictive. Sometimes it feels feminine and other times masculine, it’s totally unisex. I love it. It’s super elegant, opulent, eccentric, and masterful. The nardos are very noticeable, and I also smell lots of rose, clove, vanilla, and pear on my skin. It’s super potent, with longevity over 12 hours and a trail that’s very present but not annoying. It reminds me a lot of Madonna’s Truth or Dare and Etro’s Royal Pavillon; they’re not the same but smell quite similar. Incredibly good.
At first I didn’t like it at all, but I gave it a chance and… I fell in love ♥️♥️. It’s an addictive, elegant, and captivating fragrance; the nardos, vanilla, cloves, pear, and jasmine are very noticeable. Although I won’t admit it, I feel like I’m eating a banana, vanilla, and clove bubblegum. Super juicy! LONGEVITY 12+ hours, super potent and trail very present without being annoying. If you love gourmand sweet scents, this is for you. You’ll love it. ❗ I recommend testing on skin before buying ❗Do not buy blind👆👀.
I read it smells like banana and, looking for that scent, I made a blind purchase without reading the ingredients: yes, it smells exactly like a Bubbaloo banana bubblegum! It could be called ‘Velvet Banana’ 🍌🍌🍌. It’s very sweet and slightly synthetic, but I’m not disappointed because I’ve really enjoyed it and the performance on my skin is good. It puts me in a good mood, reminding me of scents from my childhood. I’ve found that sometimes white flowers like nardos, combined with pear and vanilla, create the perception of chewing gum, as happens with L’Interdit which smells like grape bubblegum (just an example, the scent is very different). In summary, if you’re looking for a banana candy scent, this is a good option.
I love it. It doesn’t smell like banana bubblegum, but rather chewing gum. It lasts me over 12 hours.
It’s a perfume that smells like banana bubblegum, potent yet sweet. Just one or two sprays are more than enough.
I bought it as a decant of Coco Vanille, which I adore (10/10), but I find it very unisex and I’m not much of a fan of those perfumes. The trail isn’t as strong as Coco Vanille, of which I received many compliments.
😍😍 Buy blind, I guarantee it. It smells very much like Bubbaloo bubblegum. The fixation and longevity are excellent, full marks! 💯. If you liked So Scandal, this perfume takes it a step further. It has nothing to do with Ansaand Gold; that one smells like air freshener in a perfume bottle.
Synthetic, very sweet, feminine, floral (narcissus), difficult opening, with good longevity.
Sweet nardos and vanilla from the first spray to the very end. It doesn’t smell like banana bubblegum, but rather sweetened nardos that last the entire duration. It’s a warm scent that embraces you and makes you feel very feminine. Many won’t like it, but for me, it reminds me of Ralph Lauren’s Women; the difference is that Velvet Vanilla is sweeter, less elegant, and much more casual and youthful. Incredible longevity, what a joy! 🎉♥️
Mancera’s Velvet Vanilla wraps you from the very first moment with a wonderful, enveloping opening. In the top notes, it feels intense and persists for hours, evolving into a rich and enduring experience. It fixes very well on the skin, developing a creamy, sweet, and fruity-floral scent that is irresistible. It smells like chewable banana candies, a combination difficult to describe but delicious. For me, it was love at first sniff. Of my 15 Mancera perfumes, Velvet Vanilla is my number one. Its blend of fruity and floral notes with a sweet and creamy touch makes it stand out, turning every application into a unique experience. It’s perfect for special occasions or daily wear, a fragrance that must not be missing. It’s a true declaration of love for well-made perfumes.
I was eager to try it, read the reviews, and when I bought it blind… I didn’t like it at all. I had to give it to my mother. I expected something more gourmand, sweet and vanilla (as the name suggests), but it was too floral. I hate floral notes, especially jasmine. As for longevity and sillage, it’s a bomb, but that was to be expected coming from Mancera; my mother smells like miles away when she wears it. Many people say it smells like gum, but I don’t smell it that way.
Fortunately, I tried the bottle version with the screw cap, which the experts say is more potent and longer-lasting than the magnetic cap one. I bought it thinking of adding a bomb to my collection, and I haven’t been wrong. Sweet floral, sweetened even more as if it had resins. I detect a plastic note that I like; I think that’s why they say it smells like gum. Yes, it smells like that flavour left in the mouth after chewing fruit gum. I’ve enjoyed it. Its potency and longevity are excellent.
I hated it; I only smell the intense jasmine. It lasts forever—I applied it to my wrist to test it, washed it many times, and the scent was still there. I smell nothing of gum, vanilla, or sweetness, just flowers. Like when you enter the house of a very old grandmother. Atrocious.
It’s remarkably similar to Carolina Herrera by Carolina Herrera: sweet narcissus and lots of jasmine. The olfactory memory was instant. My mum has had hers for over 24 years for special winter occasions; it lasts brilliantly and makes a huge impression. Mancera is perhaps more youthful, but I’ll only wear it for very special occasions as it has a strong presence and reminds me of that perfume where the sprays run out quickly. I’m glad I found a good alternative.
It’s rich, slightly cloying, but rich. Fresh and sweet, like smelling a cup of fruit tea with ice cream. Although it leans feminine, it suits a man very well.
I tried it in Brussels and loved it; it reminded me of banana. I bought it later in Spain at a well-known Mancera perfumer, but I don’t get any sillage and can’t even smell it on myself after a couple of hours. It’s not a cheap perfume, so for me, it’s been a total disappointment. I like perfumes that make an impression; I’m very let down.
I’ve been wearing it daily for a week. I have the magnetic cap version, and although it was a blind buy, I’m disappointed not with the scent but with the longevity. It lasts less than two hours on skin and clothes. I wonder if it’s a fake, but I bought it from a trusted perfumer, so I don’t know what’s worse. It doesn’t smell like banana gum nor is it gourmand. It’s super floral, with tonnes of narcissus and vanilla; the opening is bitter and heavy, but the dry-down is beautiful and sweet. If you have an L’Interdit or a dupe for Love Don’t Be Shy, this is redundant. I’ve already put it at the bottom of the wardrobe. Let’s hope the quality improves over time; it’s Mancera, so I expected the bomb everyone talks about.
The name doesn’t do it justice; ‘confit narcissus’ would suit it better. The vanilla goes unnoticed, but the narcissus, cloves, and that juicy touch of gooseberry and pear take centre stage. It’s a fun, relaxed, and informal fragrance.
