A spiced and peppery fragrance with a sharp opening of violet leaf, pepper, and nutmeg, accompanied by an olfactory illusion of leather and wood. Clean, warm, bright, and very masculine. Refined with a classic yet modern cut, quite versatile and discreet. If worn with formal attire, it becomes an occasion scent, but paired with a t-shirt and jacket, it turns casual without losing distinction. As for performance, it’s not a bomb; projection is moderate, somewhat faint on my skin, though I’ve been able to detect it on others after more than six hours.

It is a fabulous fragrance from start to finish. In me, I do not detect that imaginary leather spoken of in its background, but rather woods, very refined essences, very woody and very spicy amber notes. The violet leaves and fine patchouli give it a touch of pure magic. It is elegant, yet at the same time could be casual. A scent well-balanced in every possible aspect. Its trail would be said to be moderate to wide, never reaching a heavy result. I see it for any season of the year and time of day, whichever you prefer. As for longevity, I count about 6-7 hours, with the first two being of special projection. Each ph is distinct, and even more so with the touches of ambroxan, so I recommend trying it in a very particular way. Perfect conjunction of notes; it is like visiting a planetarium 🪐 and observing all the constellations, left dazzled by so much beauty, as if everything were placed there perfectly by a superior hand, by a divine force. Suddenly there you see it, asteroid B683, shining with its own light, and you remain contemplating it for hours with supreme fascination.

B683 by MA Barrois seems to me above all an immensely original perfume, with its magic expressed mainly in the rich trail it leaves behind. For some reason, it brings to mind Creed’s Aventus DNA mixed with Royal Oud, without being remotely similar in the note declaration, but that leather treatment with a fruity and spicy aspect makes me have such an association. From the very start, there is that fresh sensation of paprika, but also of saffron and nutmeg. In the base, the violet leaf and labdanum give an accord similar to the heart but sharper. Finally, the sandalwood and oakmoss grant a very masculine and imposing character to the composition. I find it super interesting; I do not like smelling it directly from the application point, but as I said, its trail is very captivating and rich. More masculine than feminine, with a performance that is more than respectable, for temperate to cold climates, with excellent and particular aromatic quality and construction. I certainly recommend trying it because I had not tested anything similar, and I believe it adds value to all the merits the perfume already has. Note: 8/10

SPECTACULAR!!! It’s such a pleasure to find compositions like this—different, unique, captivating… it’s an overwhelming fragrance mmm, yet fresh, fresh with saffron, amber, moss…??? Yes!! Fresh, ethereal, elegant, bright, wonderful… hail your majesty 🙏 The signature scent of a charismatic, intelligent, and talented executive. It’s like a luxury sports car, for her or for him. A safe bet for any season, day or night, formal or informal; wearing it turns you into a unique piece, so no matter the situation, you shine wherever you stand. Saffron is one of my favourite notes; I have many saffron jewels in my collection. Ganymede remains my favourite, but B683 is next in line to join it. Do the two belong in the same collection??? Who said class can’t overlap???

DISIDENTE B683: Pure elegance, that is its true name. The most underrated fragrance from Marc-Antoine Barrois is also one of those unusual gems in niche perfumery. Not few reviewers have labelled it the ugly duckling for being too straightforward and redundant compared to its brand ‘siblings’. But for me, B683 has its own talents to be taken very seriously. Although leather isn’t listed as a note, I perceive it prominently, accompanied by others such as saffron, pepper, violet leaf, musk, patchouli and sandalwood, which give it a base with mineral tints. Its longevity easily reaches eight hours on my skin with notable projection and trail due to the ambroxan in its formula. Occasions and climate: it’s ideal for special situations, such as a very formal gathering where one wants—and will—stand out. This is a fragrance with a very masculine personality, though it wouldn’t look bad on a bold woman. It’s the ideal complement to wear with your best attire (a black suit and shirt, or that black dress that suits us so well), preferably in evening or night settings and in fresh or cold climates. B683 is bottled high class. An elegance that conveys sobriety, self-control and elitism. A fragrance that is so good and so well-crafted that I find it hard to imagine anyone finding fault with it. Obviously, it’s not an option for young lads, let alone mindless ones. For a determined dissident over thirty, it will be one of their best cards. Every time I want to emphasise my confident image, that bulletproof part of my personality, I always choose B683. Finally, remember. Always try it before buying it.
Ganymede won all the awards, but the true gem of MAB is B683. It’s true it’s less seasonally versatile, but this is pure bottled magic for autumn and winter. How do I explain it? It’s as if Ganymede had a child with Grand Soir.
