Casmir by Chopard is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women. Launched in 1992, this composition was created by perfumer Michel Almairac. The top notes unfold with peach, coconut, mango, fruits, and bergamot; the heart reveals geranium, jasmine, floral notes, and lily of the valley; while the base settles on vanilla, amber, sandalwood, musk, patchouli, and woody notes.

The opening smells of fruit liqueur, dominated by peach. It improves greatly once the cinnamon (and perhaps clove, though I couldn’t quite detect it) comes in. In the heart, it resembles Absolu de Rochas, certainly due to the intensity of the tonka bean, but without that perfume’s darkness; Casmir is much lighter and more innocent. The longevity is very good and the trail is moderate. The bottle and cap are pretty. A 3.5/5 for the original.
Casmir is very sweet; you can tell the vanilla and cinnamon. It hasn’t quite grown on me; it smells a bit common and I was expecting more. The longevity is medium-low, about two or three hours. I see it more as a daytime scent, suitable for any season. I think younger people like it more, at least around here. I won’t be buying it again.
I bought it without knowing what it was and it surprised me hugely. The vanilla is there from start to finish, but very pleasant, and I detect the cinnamon in the base throughout. It’s very lovely, ideal for autumn and even better in winter. The projection is incredible; it was still with me the next day 🙂
I love it; it smells very sweet, like a refreshing drink from my country. I don’t know why I threw it away.
At first, it smells strong and overwhelming, but afterwards it leaves a truly rich trail. If you’re looking for something with personality, this is it.
The dry-down of Casmir is incredibly cosy.
A fragrance from the traditional school. Another legend… I took my time reviewing it because the opening was very strong at first, and I waited for this winter to use it more and give a real opinion. It’s a scent with clear oriental inspiration that transports you to India, to its alleyways and markets where brilliance and opulence coexist, silks and cottons, henna and saffron, bursts of fruits and spices… That’s the opening: slightly tipsy, full of ripe fruits among which I note peach, bergamot, and mandarin. Then the flowers appear, prevailing carnations and geraniums. In the base, an intense combination of benzoin, amber, cinnamon, and vanilla that sweetens everything. The longevity and sillage are very good, something I’m not used to and I love. It’s a perfume that can introduce neophytes into more complex oriental worlds and will make you appreciate them in their proper measure. For autumn and winter and preferably for night. Its bottle is round, imitating an oriental minaret; viewed from above, it looks like a lotus flower or a mandala. The liquid is pure golden honey. For special occasions or personal enjoyment, it’s warm and wraps you in its sweetness; don’t put limits on it, let it fall in love with you little by little…
Chopard Casmir is a transitional fragrance that anthologises the 80s chords (spices and resins) and combines them with bursts of 90s fruits. According to the website, the new notes are mango, coconut, bergamot, peach, jasmine, geranium, valley lily, amber, musk, vanilla, patchouli, and sandalwood. It’s narcotic and exuberant, not very energetic. The opening is a discharge of fruity liquor (peach and damson; I haven’t noticed coconut or bergamot). Then a stimulating and harsh floral heart, with carnations and an attic/spicy base like boudoir powders. Finally, a dirty, narcotic oriental vanilla emerges, boosted by cinnamon and blurred with benzoin. After several hours, it becomes smooth and tense, while the vanilla attenuates and a sigh of patchouli subtly refreshes it. It’s notable and persistent, less pungent than other orientals and more innocent than fruity syrups. I recall Dolce Vita by Dior, but with disparate atmospheres that can give a suffocating sensation (the trail and longevity are excellent). I perceive it as thick, dense, and notorious; the only thing that doesn’t fully attract me is that I’m not a fan of 90s peach, but it’s very well constructed (it reminds me of a magic potion or the taste of King Midas).
Perfect perfume for cold or temperate climates. A sweet, warm, and spiced oriental delight. When I put it on, I feel wrapped and transported to a bazaar in some exotic country full of aromas and spices in the heat of the sun… Very feminine but with strength. I love it.
We followed the reviews and bought it blindly, and I have no regrets. Vanilla and spices, wonderful, although on my skin the longevity is short. Another advantage is the price, so I don’t mind using it as many times as I need.
How hadn’t I tried this bomb before? It smells super 80s, with nuances that sometimes remind me of the pica-pica of Coca-Cola and other times of a beautiful vanilla with peach. The opening is impactful: peach with an acidic touch, surely mandarin, raspberry, and lemon, but never strident, always with a sweet aftertaste. Then appears an innocent cinnamon with tonka bean that fit perfectly. The dry-down is impressive, a very marked amber with a wonderful vanilla. What I’m using is the vintage version, and I hope the current one is equally good, because I don’t rule out buying it. I’m in love.
I’ll be very honest: I know that negative or positive opinions help us choose a fragrance. I eagerly awaited my Chopard Casmir. By the way, it was a blind buy although I read many comments, mostly positive. What a disappointment for me! Perhaps for others it isn’t, but for me it’s a horrible perfume. A very 80s scent, although there were good ones then; this is far from having good taste. It’s a strange scent, but of the unpleasant kind. It smells very much of vanilla and coconut, and after an hour, it smells like detergent. It’s far from being a good perfume; it smells cheap. But it’s just my opinion; perhaps for others it smells exquisite.
Casmir is the most opulent and sensual representation I have tried in a long time; through it and with it I had a wonderful extrasensory experience. On my skin, it was a true explosion of pleasure. As soon as I sprayed it, I was speechless, eyes wide, wondering how I could have bought so many gourmand perfumes without having this exotic beauty before. Casmir is a perfume that is more than opulent, more than sweet, more than spiced, more than sensual, but above all and above everything, it is more than a perfume. I have smelled many perfumes, many, perhaps too many given the current landscape. Then came this perfume that today makes no pretensions amidst so much olfactory boredom and has stolen my heart in a snap of the fingers; it is a conqueror. I must admit it was a beautiful experience, a wonderful experience I had today; on a rainy, grey day I was able to enjoy a lovely hour to remember. Everything worked out perfectly; what could have been a terrible day, or another day stuck at the computer doing activities and activities, an impersonal day at the start that could have ended in a nightmare leaving the house in these deluge conditions, turned out to be beautiful because I found the light of the sun. Barcelona was flooded to the brim, the buildings were grayer than ever, and the cranes of the Sagrada Familia looked uglier than usual, but on that walk where the air was cold, I entered an old building with its perfect cult elevator, narrow and in the centre of the building. I reached my destination and a mature, intelligent, pretty, perceptive, cheerful and very striking woman opened the door for me; this was the entrance of Casmir, for only this perfume can stand alongside people of this stature. There, a playful hound licked my ears until they were raw when it saw I was leaving, and even another grumpier one decided to surrender to my feet to be petted, and amidst so much love, so much character, there was Casmir at the entrance: just, beautiful, distant but sure of itself. It was putting it on my hand and realising that the whole moment formed part of this great perfume. Its sweetness, its cocooning, its character, its spark were part of that place…wonderful. I would give anything to experience a perfume like this always, not just for the scent but for the pleasant experience of meeting it in the environment that best suits it. It has an opening of coconut, piña colada, peach juices and vanilla that makes you close your eyes all the way to the firmament. This perfume enters very, very softly; it wants to be gentle and sweet with you; we could say it’s like a playful hound that looks at you with a silly face but knows it is just and generous, like that woman who, although intelligent and perceptive, just like her hounds, knows who she is facing and knows how to recognise in a look of the eyes who stands before her. The heart of Casmir is the union of its opening with its exquisite vintage flowers, so precious and well-blended, giving much play to the whole; it remains sweet, but thanks to these it does not fall into industrial pastry. And what a cocooning final phase with an amber that intoxicates the potion, yet it does not cause nausea because the patchouli plays well with the musk; it makes it dense, yes, but it has incredible gentle lightness. As I left, which cost me, because smelling such a wonderful vintage treasure, so chaste immersed in its time, and having little hounds that were only love and love, and a woman so vivacious, so complete, so full of life, with so much charm, such ease, with that clarity of people who have long lived life according to the rules they imposed on themselves…this sweet experience in every sense was completed with a Goodbye and a Hug… On my walk home, I no longer felt that cold; the wind did not exist; the day was no longer grey; a joy inhabited me that could not easily go away. What made me happy: Casmir? The place? The beings who there impregnated me with their resplendent energy?…I only know that every time I smell this perfume I will be able to recall in my memory those perfect looks as a whole, that combination of sweetness but with bite that is so identical to this wonderful and unforgettable perfume. EDIT: the current version seems to have changed, being a more linear perfume; it is better to do a review with the current one, because things are not what they seem.

EDIT: the current version seems to have changed, it’s more linear, better to review with the current one because things aren’t what they seem.
Hey Atalcadita, my perfume has been with me for a few years now, and the one I tried seems to have even more, so it would be good to clearly state in the review the differences between the current version and the old one 🙁
I bought this blindly after reading the super review above and was hugely disappointed. It’s synthetic vanilla with animalic touches. It’s cosy for the cold, but nothing surprising as promised; it’s linear, vanilla and more vanilla with a musk or something that smells like amber or civet. I have more intoxicating vanillas; the Yves Rocher one smells better than this simple scent. Luckily, it didn’t cost me more than £20.
Chopard, that Swiss jewel house since 1860, founded by a 24-year-old and still a family business, now smells wonderful too. Their perfume CASMIR is a pioneer, blending oriental and fruity notes. The name comes from Kashmir, and the bottle resembles a Hindu temple. It begins with a cloud of brutally sweet vanilla, ideal for addicts like me. Then the fruits enter, highlighting peach and apricot, creating a sweetness where even the berries aren’t cloying. Afterwards, white flowers emerge, slightly carnal, but without stealing the spotlight from the vanilla and fruit. Although it’s a feminine fragrance, I would wear it without hesitation, because this vanilla isn’t artificial or suffocating; it’s just right. The base of wood, incense, patchouli, amber, and sandalwood softens everything, leaving it velvet-smooth. In Spain, it’s incredibly cheap, which scares me that the price might rise later and it gets discontinued.
Chopard Casmir. I remember the day I went to find you, it was hot and it was an afternoon. I don’t remember the month, it was near the neighbourhood of a woman who left me a great enigma, perhaps I knew her from another life, who knows… I started my journey home, but I said: no, I want to be near the neighbourhood where she was born and lived most of her life. I started to smell of Casmir, it’s a woody oriental, I thought it was a very sweet scent typical of the 90s, a liquorised vanilla. It has a melancholic aura, I didn’t feel it sensual, but it evoked memories of her: her expressions, her gestures, her sophisticated and mysterious voice, her wavy blonde hair to play all day, her white silk skin, her cold and rare gaze, as if hiding something or wanting to protect her heart with a shield. It’s sad to know there will be no hope of seeing her again or feeling the same with another. Those kisses you stole from me, taking my breath away, full of fears, tenderness and passion… there weren’t many but I will remember them always, because they marked me forever. I always knew ours didn’t have much time, but they say the shorter it is, the more intense and crazy it can be. You never knew you were looking for me, but I know you wanted to play and I gave myself naked in body and soul… because I knew from the first moment I saw you that you were that person I had been searching for all my life, you were ‘the chosen one’. The ghost of your face, your large green eyes, your perfume which wasn’t exactly Casmir but another, your silk skin, your magic fingers, your perfect breasts and your sweet juice like cotton candy, your sad and angelical gaze will haunt me until I die. Your sweet poison entered my veins and there it will die. Sometimes I think of your screams so intense, how your heart beat and how overexcited you were. I thought when I said: I love you… and your face filled with fears and question marks. If you knew how many times I cried for you and how many times I still think of you, how nice it would be to forget your charms, your super sexy skin, your madness and your early departure with its disappointments. If I don’t think I will die of anguish and loneliness… let that lost soul come to my heart soon, God. I felt and remembered all that again when Casmir entered my nostrils for the first time. I used it a couple of times and still haven’t found the reason or the right moment to use it, it has moderate trail and long-lasting on my skin. I feel it very feminine. Anyway, perfumes are sometimes ‘memories of the past’… The song playing in the background, which reminds me of that lived moment, was: Annie Lennox, White Shade of Pale… What an incredible song, unique.
I was given several samples of Casmir and Wish a long time ago. They gave me so many that I could test them well. Wish reminded me automatically of Mugler’s Angel, but more bearable and less long-lasting. Casmir did surprise me: vanilla and lots of liquor, I haven’t found anything similar since; the flaw I remember was the longevity, in both cases they were seen and not seen. In general I don’t know why so little is said about these perfumes, they are good and not on the line of what we might consider expensive.
I feel adoration for this fragrance, a wonderful vanilla oriental…of its numerous notes, the vanilla is the protagonist, a sweet but not cloying vanilla. Every time I use it, Eastern fantasies from Hollywood in the 20s, 30s and 40s come to mind, those princesses in their palaces, the desert, starry nights. Ridiculous price, for its great quality, longevity and sillage, excellent. PS, I have the vintage; no idea about the reformulation, hoping they haven’t murdered it.

What a delightful surprise! I bought it blindly in 2017 and at first it didn’t convince me: it lasted all day but clung to the skin with a synthetic base that was annoying, I only noticed cheap vanilla, amber, and an initial touch of peach. It cost me finishing it. Now, by chance, I have the vintage version (the bottle has a red lotus flower at the base) and in days it has become my favourite. I don’t usually buy vintage due to past bad experiences, but this is a gem. Now I notice all the notes: it’s complex, with nuances from exotic fruits to the warmth of cinnamon, benzoin and opoponax. I feel like a Turkish delight freshly out of a hamam flying over a souk under a starry night. It will be my perfume for romantic winter dinners when they return… I’m not exaggerating, get yourselves an old little bottle and then let me know.
Vanilla, vanilla and more vanilla 🙂
What a delightful surprise! I acquired this perfume blind back in 2017 and it didn’t quite grow on me; it lasted all day but skimming the skin with a somewhat annoying synthetic base… I only felt cheap vanilla and amber, with a hint of peach at the start, nothing more. The case was that I struggled to finish it. Now, by chance, the vintage version (the bottle has a red lotus flower drawing on the base) has come into my hands and within days it has become a favourite. I am not a great fan of buying vintage fragrances as I have had a couple of bad experiences, but this, gentlemen, is a jewel! Now I truly feel all the notes; it is complex, full of nuances from the exotic fruits in the opening to the warmth of the cinnamon, benzoin, opoponax… You feel like a Turkish delight freshly out of a Hamman flying over a souk one starry night on your magic carpet. It will be my perfume for romantic dinners in winter, when it can be again… I am not exaggerating, get yourselves a small vintage bottle and then let me know.
Sometimes I dive olfactorily into the past, travelling too far back in time, and I love it. Now it’s Chopard’s 1992 perfume, Casmir in eau de parfum, with lotus in the base. The bottle is typical of the eighties and nineties, with its golden dome, and looks gorgeous. The fragrance is very sensual, with a dark, earthy warmth although it carries many fruits: an intense peach bathed in sweet and spiced coconut, sublimated by a delicious vanilla that, when joining the amber, was a bit threatening at first. But the danger was infused because the base notes join the vanilla to make it velvety; patchouli gives it structure and musk adds an oriental erotic touch. Casmir works great on cold, rainy days and I think it’s more suitable for leaving a mark at night. It’s not a modern perfume, but a beautiful, enveloping, sensual scent that gives you more charm if you rub it a little on your skin just after a shower, when it’s still damp. It’s not for playing tennis, but perfect for a night by candlelight, a drive in an open car along the beach in winter, or for a woman preparing for a night of love with her partner; it has all the qualities to seduce and lead to temptation. The blend of notes makes it unique, particular, and exquisitely enveloping, with a magic that enchants those who approach you. In short, a perfume for intense and romantic moments.
It’s one of my favourites; I have a quite old bottle and it reminds me of a beautiful sultaness; it gives me that cosy, oriental feeling.
It’s a gem. Smells sweet, velvety, with a touch of talc. It has an exquisite trail. I love wrapping myself in it on cold days because I feel its warmth.
It’s a super vanilla perfume and very long-lasting, perfect for winter. If you want to know what it smells like, I think it’s identical to Rihanna’s Rouge.
I picked up a bottle of this gem and it seems they haven’t reformulated it. Smells of vanilla with peach, sweet but not tipping into gourmand, creamy just right. Ideal for vanilla lovers; it’s not a bomb, but the scent is noticeable.
A sweet and amber perfume with very subtle oriental touches. It is vanilla fused with coconut, beautifully orchestrated with sandalwood, amber and woody notes that play the same melody in exquisite coordination. I love it; I could say it’s a signature perfume, because although it has typical notes, it’s not something you smell everywhere; I’d say it’s very exclusive. Recommended for those who love vanilla fragrances but not synthetic ones, as it denotes class and quality. It’s a good brand like Chopard, it comes with a guarantee, and the projection and trail are like those of good perfumes.
This smells like Cristal with vanilla.
A unique, complex and hard-to-explain perfume. Here, I detect a tropical fruity composition with a yellow floral accord giving it a powdery touch, becoming more vanilla and balsamic as it dries down. It has a vintage style with oriental hints. Imagine how little it has in common with those tropical and beachy perfumes of today; this is different, an enveloping, mysterious and sensual aroma. 100% feminine. Being so special, I don’t see it for daily wear but for formal or semi-formal occasions, especially on spring or summer nights. Be careful, as for some noses it may be too vintage, so I don’t recommend buying it blind. Longevity on skin exceeds 8 hours with moderate projection and trail. For me, the similarity to Ylang in Gold by Micallef is undeniable; I’d say the overall resemblance is around 80% or more. Casimir is a previous creation worthy of admiration. Finally, the performance on my skin is better than the other, so the quality/price ratio is very good. If I could go back in time and had to choose one… I’d choose this.
I just picked up this fragrance, which has been around longer than I have, and I absolutely love it. It’s super warm, cosy and sweet, yet not cloying or overpowering. It smells deliciously feminine. Among the floral notes, geranium and some white and yellow flowers stand out to me. As it dries down, it leaves a trail of amber and vanilla that is pure bliss. I consider it a timeless scent, ideal for women over 25 seeking amber fragrances. The projection is moderate, but the longevity on skin and clothes is remarkable. I think it’s more for enjoying yourself than for everyone to smell, though it’s unlikely anyone will dislike it, so you can buy it blind. Best for spring and hot days. Plus, in Spain, it’s available at a bargain price.
If you like Rihanna’s Rouge, believe me, this smells much better and has superior quality ♡
What more is there to say about Casmir that hasn’t already been said? It’s sweet and rich. When I was 13 or 14, it was my gateway to sophisticated perfumery, very different from what was popular back then like Boston or Don Algodón; this was more oriental and crafted. Nowadays, even though I buy it occasionally, it smells a bit more common and lacks that sophisticated edge it had 30 years ago. Anyway, things happen… still recommended.
I want to like it but there’s no point. There’s something in its DNA that reminds me of my mother’s perfumes that I couldn’t resist stealing, something like Balenciaga’s Rumba. It smells vintage but doesn’t stick to my skin. The chemistry just doesn’t work, but it’s certainly worth trying if you like its notes and a well-made classic.
The vanilla is very noticeable. It’s a delicious, highly vanilla perfume with a hint of cane sugar and smells like Frescolita, that Venezuelan soft drink. It’s divine; I love it.
This has always been my mother’s go-to perfume since 1994. I absolutely adore it: elegant, fine, intense ambered vanilla that lasts forever and leaves a trail. The best part is that it’s still available. It’s divine.
This smells of super dense, almost syrupy ambered peach. The sweetness is at its peak, so if you’re looking for something dry or fresh, it won’t be for you. But if you love intense fruity scents with a warm, resinous base, you’ll adore it. The price is mid-range, it lasts around eight hours and projects well. Perfect for autumn, winter, or when it’s cold and rainy.
