Descripción

Wish by Chopard is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women. Launched in 1997, the nose behind this composition is Nathalie Lorson. The top notes unfold coconut, strawberry, blackcurrant, black acacia, pear, blackcurrants, Brazilian rosewood, honeysuckle, yuzu, and orange blossom; the heart reveals honey, milk, orchid, heliotrope, violet, osmanthus, magnolia, jasmine, and valley lily; while the base notes settle on caramel, vanilla, patchouli, toffee, incense, sandalwood, amber, and tonka bean.

Very pretty, but to my taste it stays very close to the skin, I have to hunt for it. The truth is, Chopard left Wish wanting: sweet and vanilla-infused, refined, but too weak for me. If you like very discreet perfumes, this is for you. PS: It also doesn’t last long, an hour and it’s gone.

  • Sweet, aromatic, and balsamic all at once. The opening can be intense; you need to let it settle. Then it leaves a pleasant scent that blends well with the skin. Some people say it reminds them of Angel; it can resemble it, but it’s less intrusive.

  • Sweet, aromatic and balsamic all at once. The opening can be intense; you need to let it settle. Then it leaves a pleasant scent that blends beautifully with the skin. Some people say it reminds them of Angel; it can, but it’s less intrusive.

  • I have a love-hate relationship with this perfume. I heard it in Aachen about 20 years ago, a gift from a Russian colleague, an elegant beauty. Its scent made me faint, not in a positive way. I tried to give it opportunities, but at the time I was more into DKNY by day and Gucci Rush by night. Wish didn’t catch me at my best, and I didn’t know how to give it its place; perhaps it’s my skin’s acidity, as I notice a sour smell in some scents that becomes unbearable. In the end, I gifted it to my mother and then I loved it with all my heart because on her skin it was a different story: sweet and clean, a scent that tempts you to get closer and keep it near. I recently found it online, it’s hard to come by, and I gifted it again. Smelling it on her again brought back a flood of memories. I rubbed my wrist and perhaps with the years my sense of smell seeks deeper, fuller, and heavier fragrances. This time it almost convinced me to keep it… but no, I preferred to let it remain its own scent and not mine, remembering it as such. It shares similarities with Angel, though lighter; I feel so much regret about not being able to wear Angel, it’s simply too much for me.

  • I wore it back in 2000 and couldn’t identify the notes that lingered on the skin. At first very fresh, then with many scattered notes, but it lost intensity quickly and after a few hours it was gone. I prefer to feel within the trail rather than wondering if it’s still emitting scent. I never wore it again; I think I even gifted the rest.

  • Never tried or seen this before. Years ago I placed a blind order and it went wrong, including this one. I expected something sweeter, but on my skin I don’t like it. I still don’t know whether to give it another chance or gift it away.

  • It reminds me of Mugler’s Angel; they almost seem like the same fragrance, but Chopard has slightly inferior longevity on skin.

  • I was really keen to try it and it has left me cold. The opening is dreadful, at least on my skin. The heart does let the honey and lily of the valley show, a note I value. I don’t find it as sweet as they say, so I have better florals. Once it settles, I like it more. I won’t be buying it again and will use it up this winter.

  • Exquisite! A beautiful diamond-style bottle with a liquid that changes colour depending on the light, neither sky blue nor dark green, but a shifting hue. A luxury made into aroma, like a fine rich dessert for fresh or cold days. It has reminiscences of Mugler’s Angel but with more European fruits and sweet notes. Uff, an endless array of pleasant sensations. You’ll enjoy its sillage and leave many men crazy.

  • Its opening is strong, very alcoholic, and smells almost identical to Lolita Lempicka; it’s a poor copy of that perfume.

  • I bought it blindly (we addicts love that risk, haha) for its attractive notes and because it was said to resemble my favourites, Angel and Lolita Lempicka; they were right: it has that powdery, sweet style I adore, enveloping and mysterious without being explicit. It resembles Angel more but is subtler and doesn’t last as long (without being bad) as Lolita, which emphasises the violets and cherry (speaking of the old version, the latest one disappoints) and also lasted longer. On Wish, the vanilla adds sweetness but isn’t the main note; it’s balanced, just giving a touch and not overpowering. If you’re looking for something gourmand but softer, perhaps Wish is for you, as it smells clean without being soapy or citrusy. The bottle is beautiful. At first I thought it lasted three hours, but then I saw it does, especially on clothes where it soaks in for days, although it doesn’t have a huge sillage or is invasive. It’s a good alternative to Mugler’s Angel at a ridiculous price. In the opening I sense shy strawberries, something soft and citrusy, perhaps yuzu (for me it’s like a sweet lime without acidity) and flowers. After five minutes, the powdery aroma of heliotrope, violets, creamy milk and nectar sweetness with vanilla appears. Once dried down, it leaves caramelised sweetness, vanilla, talc and sandalwood holding it together. I feel it has many declared notes and I struggle to identify them. It’s not a very current scent, but I like the feeling it gives.

  • I bought this blind (we addicts love that risk, hehe) because I saw its attractive notes and they mentioned similarities with Angel and Lolita Lempicka, two of my favourites, and they were right: they are of the powdery and sweet style I adore, which envelops and has that non-traditional mystery and sensuality. It’s more similar to Angel but subtler and with less longevity (not bad) than Lolita, which has more marked flowers like violets and fruit like cherry (I’m talking about the old Lolita; the latest version leaves me wanting) and also had greater longevity. On Wish, the vanilla adds sweetness but isn’t the most prominent note, so I feel it’s balanced; it gives a little touch rather than a stinging invasion. If you like gourmand fragrances but seek something softer, perhaps Wish is for you, as I also sense a clean aroma without being soapy or fresh citrus. Mention separately its bottle; it’s gorgeous. The first few times I used it, I felt it lasted no more than three hours, but in later uses I realised that while I don’t smell it much, it is there, especially if applied to clothes where it stays impregnated for days, though it’s not a perfume with huge sillage or intrusiveness. It’s a good alternative to Mugler’s Angel because it’s a ridiculously low price for its quality. In the opening, I sense shy strawberries, something slightly citrusy but not strong, perhaps yuzu (I don’t know that fruit); for me, it’s like a sweet lime (the non-acidic ones) and flowers. After five minutes, that powdery floral aroma of heliotrope, violets, creaminess (probably from milk) and sweetness appears, but not honey-like, rather like floral nectar with vanilla. As it dries down, the caramelised sweetness, vanilla, talc and sandalwood woods remain, holding everything in the base. I feel it has many declared notes, but I struggle to identify them on my skin. I also feel it’s not a very current scent, but I like the sensation it produces.

I bought this blind, mainly to own its beautiful bottle and understand why, being a Chopard fragrance, it was so much cheaper than the brand’s others. It is true that, regarding longevity and sillage, it leans more towards an EDT than an EDP, but for me, its blend of notes creates a delicious, cosy mist that invites closeness. I’m not addicted to gourmand perfumes, yet this one fascinates me; it’s not so much for winter as for autumn and cold springs. I’ve received many compliments, especially from men, more so than with more intense or famous perfumes. On my skin, it lasts at most four hours, but given the price I paid (less than $20 for 75 ml), I happily reapply.

  • A total delight. The opening is sweet, with caramel, milk and my headspace going straight to marshmallows and cotton candy. After five hours, I detect honey, milk, strawberry and coconut. Delicious. The longevity exceeds six hours.

  • Fragrantica should review the notes; this scent, once delicious, has been utterly ruined. They’ve stripped away all its sweet elegance, leaving behind a green, swampy, acidic and soapy liquid that’s sharp and reminds me of old Avon fragrances. It’s not worth a penny.

  • CookieCat

FRAGRANTICA needs to review the notes; this scent, which was once delicious, has been destroyed in the worst way possible; they left nothing, absolutely nothing of its elegant sweetness. What is in its place now is a swampy green liquid, acidic and soapy, stinging; strangely, it reminds me a lot of some old AVON fragrances; it’s not worth it at all.

  • Thaiss🌷

I own it but it doesn’t suit me much; it smells like milk with a hint of honey, incense and patchouli. My mum likes it more, though she isn’t crazy about it either due to that incense note. Longevity: good, around six hours. Sillage: moderate.
