  • I’m not sure if it’s my skin, but Hypnose smells to me like body cream with too much vanilla. It’s not sweet, but it feels overwhelming. I had high expectations, but I don’t sense any note other than vanilla. That said, it doesn’t remind me of other perfumes. Although it’s not to my taste, I think it could work for those who enjoy creamy and enveloping scents. Given its longevity and trail, I see it as ideal for cold weather. Pleasant: 4/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatile: 6/10 Original: 8/10

  • Beautiful perfume thanks to the vanilla and passion flower. I never thought I’d like something so sweet yet elegant, without being outdated. Every time I wear it, I feel sexy and empowered. It’s excellent for winter; in enclosed spaces, more than two sprays make its trail noticeable.

  • As a man, I love it; it seduces me. There are fragrances that enchant both sexes. Perhaps a lady might not be won over, but as a man, I say the dance of its notes is delicious and sexy. It hasn’t held my interest for the last few years and deserves a second wind. Although it’s not for every climate, it always has that sensuality, class and cheekiness. 10/10

  • Sorry, sweet, spiced, fruity and floral. Ideal for a romantic dinner or a night out. It’s a mysterious and addictive scent.

  • ele.ardizon

Its name describes it perfectly: it’s like trying to decipher someone. At first, it seems to say a lot, but then there’s a depth that obsesses and hypnotises you..<3

  • One of my favourite perfumes. I wear it on bad days and it relaxes me so much 💕. The vanilla is at full strength; I even use it to help me sleep. I can’t imagine my life without this scent. I bought a miniature a few years ago when I was 20, and now at 25, it remains the best for me 💕

  • Valeriapc

Absolutely delicious. I bought it blind and loved it straight away. Period. ❤️❤️🥰🥰

  • I agree that Hypnose is timeless and maintains its own identity, an indispensable requirement in a fragrance.

Since I first encountered it, love at first sniff, it became my personal signature: sensual, elegant, sweet yet fresh at the same time. For me, it’s the perfect combination of clean and sweet; I’ve never found anything like it. It relaxes me and makes me feel authentic.

I can’t stand this fragrance; it literally gives me headaches and nausea for hours. It lasts forever on skin and clothes, which is a plus, but simply not worth it. I loved vanilla and thought I’d adore this, but it’s a resounding no.

  • Satine.noir

I consider it a classic with a vanilla distinct from current trends. Personally, we haven’t gelled; I remember the massive headaches I got trying to reconcile with its aroma, all in vain, and I changed it. However, it has very prolonged longevity, beautiful bottles, and I think those looking to move away from gourmand vanilla or the coconut-vanilla duo should try it. It’s a distinct, unmass-produced, singular scent.

  • I’ve tried and worn it; it’s a classic scent, a bit stately, but it depends on who wears it. It reminds me of vintage makeup or a doll, a lovely perfume. What I notice most is a very fine powdery vanilla, making me think of a Renaissance princess. Edit: I agree, but definitely not for me. After applying one, I went on a trip and how unbearable it felt was not normal: cloying, too powdery, smelling of old lady, dusty vanilla that gave me a headache. Once I got home, I just wanted to shower. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone like me who prefers fresh, clean scents.

  • Dama Incognita

An elegant and feminine fragrance, very sweet but not a gourmand where the sweetness overpowers everything like the trendy ones. The flowers are so blended it’s hard to distinguish them, but they combine brilliantly with the vanilla, which might be the key. In the dry-down, it becomes powdery, sweet, and floral. Beware of the sprays as it can become overwhelming; it has potent projection and long-lasting performance.

I can’t quite put my finger on what I’m smelling because, according to reviews, it shouldn’t smell old-fashioned. I had my first bottle in 2014 at 18 and felt absolutely divine. It ran out, but since it’s Lancôme, it’s always in stores, so I’d occasionally try it. Now, at 27, I bought it again. I adore its opening: very sweet and sparkling, almost like a tropical fruit (which is why I don’t understand the negative reviews). Yes, vanilla comes out later, but that fruity sweetness remains. The longevity is wonderful and I’ve received many compliments. For me, it’s the best of Lancôme. P.S.: I just looked up that passionflower is the flower of the passion fruit. Now it makes sense; it basically smells like that fruit. Yum.

  • I’ve loved it for years. It lives up to its name ‘Hypnose’ because the moment you smell it, you’re hypnotised by how good it smells. It’s been my favourite since I discovered it at 18, and I’m still repurchasing it today at 30. I enjoy trying new things, but this always remains in my wardrobe as a signature. It has presence yet is soft and delicate. For me, it’s the perfect balance of sweet, floral, fruity, and powdery. It lasts quite a while, though I wish it lasted longer on my skin. Plus, the bottle and colour are gorgeous. I’ll always keep it.

  • I’ve worn this since I was 25, and now I’m 34; every time it runs out, I buy it again. To me, it doesn’t smell old-fashioned but rather elegant and spectacular. It has a wonderful trail and incredible longevity; I’ve received countless compliments, and nothing compares. I love it and will keep repurchasing it time and time again.

  • It’s a unique scent; I haven’t felt it in any other fragrance. Since I smelled it on my skin, my nose got hooked. My daughter says it smells like medicine, but I love it; it captivates me, and every time I wear it, I’m smelling it without ceasing. Some perfumeries have told me it’s discontinued; could you confirm if that’s true? 😞

  • Abgvanessafernandez

I loved it madly. Despite its vanilla base, it’s not heavy; it’s fresh… I could smell it all day while wearing it. Perfect for daytime. It’s not invasive and doesn’t bother others. I would buy it a thousand times over.

  • anamaestracorreo

Without a doubt, the most different vanilla in my entire collection. I perceive a super-sweet vanilla, like nectar, with a tropical touch. I have nothing like it and it seems very unique and original. It can be overwhelming in heavy heat, but it’s perfect for summer evenings. The rest of the year, it’s ideal.

  • Lady Wallis

I’m going to be ‘tough’ on this fragrance. Watch out! I like it and have owned it since I was young; there’s no doubt it smells good, sweet and feminine, but to me it smells like cheap perfume… it reminds me so much of the little pots given away at Christmas by the pharmacy in my neighbourhood with purchases. Identical. Now, aside from that, it’s a perfume with excellent longevity and a trail that, in my opinion, is excessive… if you wear it, you know it and it’s noticeable.

  • Sweet floral; it doesn’t cause a headache despite its sweetness. You can detect the passion fruit at first, but after half an hour the jasmine and gardenia take over, keeping the sweetness slightly softer with the vanilla. In my opinion, it’s an elegant feminine fragrance, far from other more youthful and sparkly scents. My verdict: a scent for +40s perhaps.

It came out when I was eight, and in the Cable magazine (so vintage, ah yes) it featured a sample in a metal envelope with ads covering the back page. Does anyone remember? What times those were. I only recall the liquid was blue and the scent… I still get a hint of it. I haven’t smelled it again, but it was certainly elegant and distinct. Always mischievous; I opened it and drenched my neck with it, hehe. I’m not sure if anyone noticed, but it was a lovely fragrance. It’s a bit pricey, but sometimes I feel like buying it to relive that summer of 2005. I don’t remember the scent vividly, but I have a vague olfactory memory. If they reformulated it, I doubt I’d notice. Nearly twenty years have passed.

  • I’d seen the bottle in advertisements but it never caught my eye until I tried it. Simply gorgeous. I detect no vanilla note; it feels fresh and light, ideal for work. I just adore it.

  • Coni Macarena Miel

It’s strange because passion fruit is my favourite, but this scent doesn’t agree with me at all. It’s not a bad perfume, but it sounds very vintage and too powdery. Although the vanilla is different and lovely, it doesn’t convince me. Plus, it gives me nausea and a headache. Everything is wrong, and the price doesn’t help either.

  • I absolutely love it, and by God, the longevity is incredible! I wore it to work early, lasted my eight hours, then went to the gym (about ten hours later). A girl told me: ‘I love that perfume, the longevity is amazing’.

  • Elizabethshelby

How strange; it has no declared fruits, but I smell an orange, a caramelised orange. Every nose is a different world.

  • Hypnôse is lovely, feminine and has an original touch rarely found in the gourmand family thanks to its tropical passionflower note and the vetiver that balances the sweetness of the vanilla base. Vetiver, an Indian grass with green, wet and ambery notes, prevents the sweet touches from being cloying. It’s ideal for autumn and winter and versatile for any time of day. Longevity and sillage are moderate on my skin; a good option for work. I don’t find it powdery or vintage as I’ve read. When the fruity opening fades, it leaves a charming blend of jasmine and vanilla. As its name suggests, it can result in a hypnotic effect at close range, something akin to a cold, calculated seduction.

  • Hypnose was my first designer perfume. It captivated me, although I still don’t know how to describe it. Around 2009, it evoked a chewing gum scent for me, but with many nuances, very elaborate, although I’ve never actually smelled chewing gum like that, it’s what comes to mind. Perhaps due to its sweetness or vanilla, I don’t know. What I do know is that it’s very lovely, sweet without being cloying, vanilla-infused, slightly fresh, easy to wear, nothing shouty, no vintage touches, smells like a fine confection. I really like it very much and it has good sillage and longevity; it’s one of the ones that project most on my skin. I see it as versatile (taking care of the sprays according to the occasion), versatile in age, timeless and easy to like (except for those who don’t enjoy sweet scents). Now I have another bottle that I rushed to get because it’s sadly discontinued. What a pity; it’s an uncommon fragrance, but I understand why they discontinued it. Generally, when one smells a perfume, they think: smells clean, fresh, dessert, sexy, strong… Hypnose doesn’t fit into categories. If someone asks me what it evokes, I’d say: something lovely. It smells lovely, but it’s not easy to categorise either by notes or by feelings, which can make its use difficult due to lack of identification. However, I think this makes it unique and worth having or knowing before it disappears. Something curious: smelling Chloé Nomade Nuit D’Egypte, its opening is very similar to Hypnose (at least for me and on blotter paper); then Chloé follows another path, but they have a slight resemblance.

  • At first, I didn’t dislike it; I noticed more the combination of flowers and vanilla, but as it dried, only that tropical touch remained, which is now the only thing I smell. No, I don’t like it; I think the passionflower note isn’t for me. All the Lancôme fragrances I’ve tried have a common base that I don’t like; I don’t know if I’ll try many more…

  • I tried it in a duty-free shop and loved it; my 12-hour flight lasted and the fragrance remained. I think it’s sexy without being harassing or annoying. I want to buy it; I believe it’s money well spent.

  • Perfumadict

Clean and soapy. I don’t find it fresh, but rather floral and creamy. Very lovely, timeless, suitable for all ages and occasions. Perfect for smelling clean and refined without trying.

  • I love it; I wore it in my 20s back around 2010. But, is it going to be discontinued? I’ve had trouble finding it in stores (I’m from Chile).

  • Yeli parfum

Passionflower to the max with a sweet base and woods… Elegant; I see it for special occasions. Super feminine.

  • anamaestracorreo

Buaaaa… It’s the most unique vanilla in my collection. I don’t know why I don’t wear it more, but I hope they keep selling it. Here, you don’t smell like a mass-produced scent, so if anyone asks, don’t tell them! I bought the bottle three years ago and it has sweetened up considerably.
