I tried this fragrance out of curiosity, as I adore the original. It’s citrusy and light, and although it’s not the original, I liked it enough to consider it worthy.
Today I tested this fragrance among a dozen others. I was very curious because I love the original Gucci by Gucci. Although it is too rushed to delve deeper, I will just say three things: 1) I liked it. 2) It is a citrus fragrance, not necessarily original. 3) It is somewhat light. As a flanker of its mother, I think it is worthy.
I use my 30ml (Travel Spray) bottle of Gucci by Gucci Sport and I can state something: I believe I have found the leitmotif of ‘Sport’ fragrances. Basically, they are a ‘citricisation’ of their mothers. The same applies to Allure Homme Sport or L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Sport. In this version, the unique bergamot of the original is replaced by tangerine and grapefruit, a very pleasant blend. However, I warn you: in both versions there is an undeclared lavender scent. Anyway, this version feels more familiar to me, leaning closer to Allure Homme Sport than the original Gucci. It is not very unique, perhaps that will deter the demanding buyer. I like it because I like it, and because it is Gucci. As a flanker, I think it is worthy. For connoisseurs and collectors.
Un recognisable and very delicious scent.
I’ve had this for a long time. It opens with a strong citrus burst that soon settles into a spicy, citrusy note. It’s very sporty/casual and doesn’t last long on the skin; in the dry down, you can clearly detect the wood and calm citrus. Personally, I don’t like distinguishing individual notes; I prefer to experience the scent as a whole. However, with this one, being simple and direct, the notes are very easy to pick out. It’s a rich fragrance, unsurprising at any stage, but it’s a good perfume. Just my two pence, greetings.
Gucci by Gucci Sport wasn’t to my liking. It felt insipid, like a handful of herbs in water, leaving a watery scent trail. If it hadn’t been created, nothing would have changed. On top of that, the price is too high. Its original fragrance has a lovely aroma, but the longevity is terrible.
Gucci by Gucci Sport has let me down; it smells like bland herbal water and isn’t worth the high price. The original is better, but this one fails on longevity.
A very distinctive scent with an Italian signature: it smells like classic old-school fragrances with modern touches. In my opinion, it’s delicious; the blend reminds me of mint, almost like my beloved Colgate Herbal toothpaste. It opens with cypress, a characteristic note of the house, beautifully executed. As it dries down, it becomes citrusy with mandarin and a grapefruit base, followed by fig, berries, and a musky touch. It closes with an almost imperceptible vetiver, sweet patchouli, cardamom, tobacco, and leather. A great fragrance in terms of aroma… but its longevity and projection are terrible. My skin lasts longer than average, and this doesn’t even make it past four hours before it vanishes without a trace. There are better Sport options at this price; while they don’t smell the same, they certainly perform better.
A very particular scent with an Italian stamp: it smells like old classics with modern touches. In my opinion, it is delicious; the blend reminds me of mint, almost like the Colgate Herbal toothpaste I love. It opens with cypress, a characteristic note of the house and very well executed. As it dries down, it becomes citrusy with tangerine and grapefruit in the background; then fig, berries, and a musky touch appear. It closes with almost imperceptible vetiver, sweet patchouli, cardamom, tobacco, and leather. A great perfume in terms of aroma… but its longevity and projection are terrible. My skin lasts much longer than average, and this does not go past four hours; it vanishes without a trace. There are better Sports for this price, although they do not smell the same, they certainly have better performance.
Explosive opening of cypress, fig and juniper with that turpentine and pine resin touch, all perfectly blended. But beware, the projection fades quickly: by the hour, the magic is gone. On my skin, the EDT is useless; in EDP form, it would be my absolute favourite. There are fresh green fragrances with monstrous power, like Jaguar Classic, that outshine it.
Neither like nor dislike it. Bitter-mentholated opening where cypress, cardamom and juniper berries appear. Finishes with vetiver. I don’t feel the fig. Quite passable for a Gucci. Poor performance. For spring and summer, daytime. Moderate longevity. Soft trail.
Shaving gel: it’s a modernisation of Brut. Smells like that cheap cologne, especially shaving foam. Not much to say, only its price which is not inconsiderable for a Gucci.
Gucci by Gucci Sport will go down in history as one of the most unknown scents created by the house, and undoubtedly as one of the best at using the cypress note. It is a proposal that should be taken seriously. For me, it is what Romance Silver by Ralph Lauren could not be: an ageless cypress blended with juniper berries, fig sweetness, and the clean, transparent, ozonic part that a young vetiver adds, touching unexplored grounds. Without this vetiver, it would not be the marvel it is. It seems like the green version of Intimately by Beckham. It is semi-linear, adds refined air and a ‘zesty’ feel with a light green forest character, and works wonderfully in any season. Its longevity is decent and very good if applied on clothes; the projection is medium-low, but after several hours you feel how it envelops you. After testing it well in different seasons, I have bought a second bottle of this despised Gucci marvel, which touches similarities with CH Sport but is infinitely more refined, round, and classy. It is expensive and discontinued, but worth every penny and can still be found with some ease. A highly recommended 4X4!

A work of art, very little known and valued for the perfume marvel it is: fresh, clean, and luminous.

I tried it again after a long time and think I judged it too harshly the first time. I see my previous review, which I won’t delete as evidence of my first impression. This time it seemed pleasant, a classic yet modern green scent, like shaving lotion, very fresh and masculine. The downside is that all Guccis in this bottle, whether called Gucci by Gucci, Sport or Made to Measure, have very poor performance. This didn’t last more than 4 hours and stays very close to the skin. Only for that reason they should be cheaper. What a pity for a pleasant scent.
One of my favourite battle testers. Well-designed and perceptible development. Opens citrusy and green, a fresher opening than it later turns out to be. Evolves into fruity and sweet, dominated by fig, becoming woody over time. In the dry-down, fig and vetiver are in dialogue, always with a green touch, never dark, a fruity/spiced vetiver. Very well-developed. The sweet fruity fig isn’t for summer, it can cloy and saturate at high temperatures. Better for moderate temperatures: spring and those luminous autumn days.
Intense opening, alcoholic, fruity and herbal. Aloe vera freshness, resinous and bright, almost certainly fig and cypress, very natural, green and comforting, smelling of Aloe vera juice. Middle phase: earthy and rough vetiver with subtle patchouli, trail with a touch of green grape. It’s an intense, fruity-floral green scent, meditative, mature and reserved. Reconciling, it neutralises and calms the mind, attracting peace and silence. For spring and summer, morning daytime, with the dew of flowers, walking in the morning before the sun. Gratifying, nothing invasive, plasticky or metallic, very natural. Longevity 1 to 2 hours, moderate trail as it’s herbal. Its SPORT character isn’t for the gym, but the delight of contact with nature.
Gucci by Gucci Sport, a subtle fragrance. A well-executed green fig accord with milky nuances, wrapped in a faint fresh opening of tangerine and grapefruit, slightly mentholated by cardamom, very energising. Ideal for daytime. Average performance; I don’t feel the patchouli and vetiver earthy notes on the skin, but do on the blotter alongside musky tones. In my view, these delicate fragrances are enjoyed more on clothes, as the skin absorbs the base notes. A little unisex, nothing invasive.
A rich fragrance but very pricey now. I grabbed it at duty free on offer for $30 for 50ml, a good price. Herbal, citrus opening, then fruity with fig, settling into a woody, earthy base with vetiver and musk. During the day it doesn’t last long, fading with the dryness, about 5 hours. But by night, after a cocktail, it explodes: brutal projection, a spectacular herbal and fruity touch, reminiscent of Bad Boy without the smoky note, lasting 7 hours richly. In-store it was $85 and they told me it was discontinued, hence the price.
Irrelevant until I caught it on sale at a chemist. I bought the travel size for the original bottle, but the scent is dark green, nothing fresh or citrusy. It’s not bad, but it smells mature and vintage, lasts a mere breath, doesn’t even cling to clothes, and stands out for nothing.
