Issey Miyake is one of the least-used perfumes in my circle. I like this version because it’s not so floral, but rather aquatic and woody, ideal for daytime and evening wear. It’s less formal and has excellent longevity. It’s a pity it’s a limited edition.
I’ve admired Miyake from the majestic Odeur Homme down to Majeure. I bought Bleue L’eau Fraiche, a discontinued version, at a good price online. It carries the DNA of its mother: a bright, intense citrus and menthol opening. The mint gives it a fresh, herbal aura until the rosemary takes over the heart for an hour. The dry down is an intense musk (a bit intrusive) and a sweet, woody patchouli. It’s refreshing, subtle, and exclusive for summer, like a flavoured fresh drink. It projects little, but perhaps that was the creator’s intention. I’ve taken it on and will try to finish it once summer is over.
Every Miyake fragrance is a small work of art. I admire the brand from the majestic Odyssée Homme through to Majeure, passing through some versions of the few that reach Argentina. I bought Bleue L’Eau Fraiche, daughter of Blue, both discontinued, at a good price online. It has its mother’s DNA: a citrus and mentholated opening, clear and intense. The mint gives it a fresh, herbal aura until the rosemary dominates the heart for an hour. The dry down is an intense musk (a bit annoying) and a sweet, woody patchouli. It’s refreshing, subtle, exclusive for summer, like a flavoured fresh water. It projects little, but perhaps that was the creator’s idea. I bought it and will try to finish it when summer ends.
I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more perfumes for a few months after getting the Pi by Givenchy, but addiction is a vicious cycle. This is my first Issey Miyake, and at first glance, I loved it: a fresh, masculine scent with great presence. I found out it’s discontinued and unavailable here in Uruguay, so I managed to get it at a ridiculous price from someone who had it as a gift and needed cash. A double win on quality and price; I’m very happy with the purchase.
This fragrance is really excellent, honestly. The Miyake line never disappoints; they all share that common DNA, those herbal notes. The opening is pure mint and rosemary; afterwards, from a few hours in, patchouli enters, a very refined scent. After Le Male, Sauvage by Dior and Bleu de Chanel, this is one of my favourites.
This fragrance is very good, truly. The Miyakes never disappoint; they share the common DNA, those herbal notes. The opening is pure mint and rosemary; afterwards, after a few hours, the patchouli enters, a very refined fragrance. After Le Male, the Sauvage by Dior, and the Bleu by Chanel, one of my favourites.
Excellent summer fragrance; the citrus and mint stand out. Its name says Fraiche, but on my skin, it is very potent, with a projection of a metre and a longevity of 5 to 6 hours. I like it more than L’Eau Bleue. It has been difficult to find in Chile; is it discontinued? At least I still have the 75 ml version.
Excellent for summer, highlighting the citrus and mint. Although its name says ‘fraiche’, on my skin it’s very potent: a metre of projection and 5 to 6 hours of longevity. I like it more than L’Eau Bleue. I’ve had trouble finding it in Chile; is it discontinued? At least I still have the 75 ml bottle left.
Right, here are the official notes: top of bergamot, mint and rosemary; heart of May rose, yerba mate and peony; base of musk and patchouli. I’m wearing it today and I was ultra-surprised and delighted, especially because it’s discontinued. The first spray reminded me of Acqua di Giò Profumo. For the first 5 minutes, 70% of the scent smells like Versace Pour Homme with mint and rosemary, then it evolves further. It’s spectacular for spring and high temperatures, with a touch of elegance and sophistication. It’s not for sportswear, but for shirts, jeans and polished shoes. Try it if you can get your hands on it.
Hoola, here are the official notes from Issey Miyake: Top Bergamot, Mint, and Rosemary; Heart Pink, Yerba Mate, and Peony; Base Musk and Patchouli. Perfumer Jacques Cavallier. I am using it today and was ultra-surprised and happy, especially since it is discontinued. On the first spray, I thought of Acqua di Giò Profumo. After five minutes, it resembles Versace Pour Homme with mint and rosemary by about 70%, and over time, it becomes even more similar. I do not know the classic Bleue, but this is a marvel, more intense. It must be tried. I recommend it wholeheartedly. For spring and high temperatures, it is spectacular. It has elegance and sophistication; it is not for sportswear, but for shirts, jeans, and polished shoes, semi-formal. Try it if you can get your hands on it.
It is the scent of its older sister but more versatile, lighter, and less intense (without that meaning it is worse than L’Eau Bleue). It remains aromatic and deep, solid and well-constructed. Ideal for daily use, even on mild nights, especially alongside the original. It works perfectly as a backup for its older sibling; it seems not to be present, but perhaps it is olfactory fatigue. Presented in 75 ml, it is still available and easier to find than the original. I recommend it for those who want to be perfumed, going beyond the aquatic or sweet for warm climates. Medium-low price, fits into any collection. The downside is its spray nozzle, which can waste liquid or dispense too much; be careful with that.
It has the same scent as its older sibling but is more versatile, lighter or less intense (which doesn’t mean it’s worse than L’Eau Bleue). Perhaps it has some notes reduced more or less. It remains aromatic and deep, like its original version. It’s a solid, well-constructed fragrance, fresh but not light (it has its own consistency), perfect for versatile use, daytime and even warm evenings, especially alongside the original Bleue. This Fraiche works perfectly as a backup for its older sister, for daily wear, always taking care with the sprays; it seems almost non-existent, but perhaps due to olfactory fatigue, it gives the impression of fading to skin scent very quickly. It comes in 75ml, still available, easier to find than its sibling, despite both being out of production. I recommend it for those who want to be scented, going beyond aquatic or sweet fruity scents for warm climates. Mid-range price, it could fit in any collection and be enjoyed. The downside is its spray nozzle, which might waste liquid or release more than necessary; be careful with that.
It smells very particular; I tried it and now that I can no longer find it, I want to recreate it. Can anyone help me find heart notes to substitute them?
I own both fragrances, the Bleu Fraiche and the traditional Bleu. The traditional projects more, has a better trail, greater longevity, and the rosemary is much more noticeable. The Fraiche is softer, with a gentle trail and projection, and a longevity of 5 to 6 hours.
Delicious, original, and leaning towards fresh. It is very different from the regular Bleu, which is even more special and polarising. They share some notes but diverge significantly from the original Issey; however, I insist that they are quite different from each other, and people do not associate them when worn. This one is more linear and suitable for everyone, much more ‘mentholated’, and in my opinion, it smells of cold tea at the base. The rosemary note is much more subdued than in the regular Bleu, though it has a very characteristic, penetrating, evocative, and friendly scent that is not overly mass-produced. A pity it is discontinued; I managed to find a miracle bottle in December 2023 and I am torn between wearing it constantly despite the winter and keeping it like gold for the summer. – It has immense projection and, above all, a trail for the first three hours to be an eau fraîche, then gradually diminishes; in my case, 6-7 hours is good, sometimes more. One must be careful not to over-spray because, although the aroma is very pleasant, it is intense, and often less is more… its charm lies in the right dosage (two, at most three sprays. For comparison, I only use one on the regular Blue.) – Suitable for all ages and situations (mind the right dosage again); due to its originality, you can surprise even in formal settings and make more ostensibly elegant perfumes look pale. A classic cologne but very modern and very long-lasting. – Better for warmer climates, though I use it in winter too because I like it so much :). – More masculine than unisex. In short, an eau fraîche that is a wolf in sheep’s clothing; some EDPs would envy its trail, longevity, personality, and ability to dress so well and concentrate. The only negative point it might have is that fingerprints mark the cap and glass easily, but then again, it’s not a smartphone 🙂 – In its 40ml presentation, it is very cute, like a miniature Issey Miyake. – A jewel. (If you had them smell it blindfolded in a niche brand perfumerie and you had plenty of money, you would pay five times more than it costs, if you can still find it in a neighbourhood perfumerie. I fully agree that due to its originality and design, it could pass off as a niche product).
Absolutely gorgeous, original and slightly fresh. It’s very different from the regular Blue, which is even more special and polarising. They share notes but diverge significantly; people don’t associate them when worn together. This one is more linear, suitable for everyone, very mentholated, and to me, it smells of iced tea at the base. The rosemary is much more subdued than in the regular Blue, yet retains a very characteristic, penetrating, evocative and charming scent. What a shame it’s discontinued; in December 2023 I managed to find a miracle bottle and I’m torn between wearing it non-stop despite the winter or keeping it like gold for summer. It has immense projection and trail for the first three hours, then settles to around 6-7 hours. You have to be careful not to over-spray as it’s intense; its charm lies in the right dose (two, at most three). For the regular Blue, I only use one. It suits all ages and occasions; due to its originality, you can even surprise people in formal settings and make more elegant perfumes look pale. It’s a modern, long-lasting cologne. Better suited to warm climates, though I also wear it in winter. More masculine than unisex. In short, a fresh water that is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The only drawback is that fingerprints mark the cap and glass easily, but then again, it’s not a smartphone. In a 40ml presentation, it’s very cute, like a miniature Issey Miyake. A true gem.
Exquisite perfume. Seeing that it is discontinued, I don’t want to spend what remains in the bottle, which must be around 30%.
Review of L’Eau Bleue d’Issey Eau Fraiche by Issey Miyake, which will be straightforward. A summer fragrance where herbal notes dominate, with rosemary as its star note, and citrus accents. Very fresh. Its projection and longevity are very moderate to low. Ideal for those summer evenings in a white shirt, strolling by the seaside, with the intention of reapplying after two hours. You can’t ask more of an eau fraîche; it fulfils its mission and will earn compliments. In summary, a fresh, pleasant, herbal summer fragrance with citrus touches, suitable for both formal and informal evening wear, featuring low projection and longevity that will garner praise. Regards.
A cousin of mine owns it and it smells like cheap women’s cologne for a forty-year-old. It’s overpowering and every time he sprays it and visits, I try to keep my distance, without first spraying a eucalyptus decongestant on my shoulders to cut through the foreign stench. Yes, friends, it’s one of those that invade a room and refuse to leave two hours after opening the windows. I don’t detect the bergamot or mint mentioned on Fragrantica; instead, I perceive a warm, velvety stench that would make me give up on using it in summer or spring. The sensation it transmits when smelled from afar is that of something dusty on the skin, like makeup that causes itching and discomfort; it’s like a wasp sting on the neck, due to how irritating and intrusive its expanding bubble is. But well, the advantage of having a relative with poor olfactory taste: it saves us from blind purchases and wasting time visiting the perfumery to sniff fragrances that inspire curiosity based on internet reviews.
A cousin of mine owns this, and it smells like cheap, middle-aged women’s cologne. It’s overwhelmingly strong; every time she sprays it and visits, I make sure to keep my distance, not before dousing my shoulders with an eucalyptus nasal decongestant to cut through the overpowering scent. Yes, friends, it’s one of those perfumes that invades a room and refuses to leave even two hours after the shutters or windows have been opened. I can’t detect the bergamot or mint advertised on Fragrantica; instead, I perceive a warm, ‘velvety’ stench, if such a term is possible, which would deter me from spraying it in summer or spring. The sensation it gives off from a distance is that of something dusty on the skin, like makeup, causing itching and embarrassment; it feels like a wasp sting on the neck due to how irritating and intrusive its expanding bubble is. But well, the advantage of having a relative with poor olfactory taste: it saves us from blind purchases and wasting time visiting perfumeries to sniff out fragrances that pique our curiosity based on online reviews.
