  • Although this fragrance hasn’t launched yet, I’ve noticed an extreme and savage decline in quality from Issey in general over the years. The packaging is becoming cheaper and more austere, fragrances that are timid and boring… well, I think this house is DEAD. Sincerely, I have no hopes… let’s hope they get back on track. We’ll see what they offer when it launches, let’s hope it’s not another water with no projection.

  • Obviously, it doesn’t declare all the notes… The fragrance opens with the same yuzu, bergamot, mandarin and lotus flower as its sibling ‘L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme’. Freshly applied, it seems identical, but after a few minutes the mandarin turns bitter like Bvlgari’s Aqva Amara and joins the cypress (undisclosed) and iris. After a few minutes, the vetiver makes its presence felt alongside the ginger and the fragrance moves away from its start to become almost a copy of Antonio Banderas’ Mediterraneo. The Issey version is more subtle and less intrusive than Banderas’, but quite similar. At 2 hours, the vetiver softens and returns to the memory of ‘L’Eau d’Issey’ with that soft musk and amber base. Do I like it? Let’s say yes but no. I already have L’Eau d’Issey and Mediterraneo, so it’s as if I already own it. If I didn’t have them, I probably wouldn’t buy it as I think it’s too expensive for how little it lasts on the skin (3 hours) and projects little (soft trail from the first half hour). That’s my personal opinion. Still, a good option for those seeking something formal but very usable.

svazquez, it would be good to comment on the scent and fragrance, mainly because this is a page for that. Commenting without describing the smell or, worse still, without having tried it, is just creating senseless hate.

svazquez, do you add anything about the fragrance or just the usual hate towards absolutely everything?

  • Psicostasis

A vetiver that gets along well with my skin, which usually transforms vetivers into very alien, caramelised turpentine. It has a touch that reminds me of a tomato leaf, although it might be my imagination. It dries into a nice, polished and clean wood, although too close to the skin. It changes quite a bit, but each phase is minimalist, a minimalism that I don’t connect with.

I had sky-high expectations. According to Max Forti on YouTube, it’s a super launch, ‘the next big thing’. I don’t know what world he lives in, as everything seems good to him. Marie Salamagne is an expert in phantom fragrances. This ‘vetiver’ version is even more watery than the original, massacred and weakened. A bit sweet, but nothing captivating. The current classic has more punch than this boring and unnecessary flanker. Weak performance and longevity. Expensive and, to make matters worse, mediocre.

  • L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Vetiver is aquatic, citrusy and woody. The citrus opening is pleasant; here they don’t use yuzu, but I think they do use bergamot and mandarin, although they last only 5 minutes. Then you note the DNA of the original: aquatic, with a dry and mineral vetiver base and fresh spices. No more twists. It’s for daily use, all year round: office, casual outings, day or fresh evenings. Decent longevity, about 7 hours, but after the first hour it drops close to the skin. I’ve liked the scent: citrus, fresh and woody, my favourites. The only drawback: I already have other better performers like Dior Homme 2020 or Sport 2021, but if I find it cheap, maybe I’ll buy a bottle.

  • L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Vetiver is an aquatic, citrus and woody fragrance. It has a very pleasant citrus opening; in this version they don’t use yuzu, but I believe they do use bergamot and mandarin, although they last fleetingly for about 5 minutes, and you start to notice part of the DNA of the original L’Eau d’Issey Miyake version, with the aquatic notes, but with a dry and mineral vetiver base and some fresh spices. From then on, this fragrance has no more olfactory twists. This Vetiver version is a fragrance for daily use, in any season of the year, as it is very versatile, being usable in the office, casual outings, daytime activities or fresh evenings, etc. Its longevity wasn’t too bad for me, it lasted about 7 hours for me, but after the first hour it drops very close to the skin. I’ve liked the aroma a lot, it has elements that are my favourites in fragrances, which are containing citrus, fresh and woody notes; the only drawback is that for the moment I have several fragrances in that style with better performance like Dior Homme 2020 or Dior Homme Sport 2021, but if I find it at a good price, perhaps I’ll buy a bottle.

  • I’m already using it and enjoying it greatly. While testing Dior Homme 2020, I found a reasonable resemblance. The opening is fresh, less citrusy and bitter than the original Issey, and the vetiver appears very subtle, timid, adding cleanliness and brightness. It’s pleasant and penetrating, combining ginger with undisclosed woods. It opens softly, from a distance, almost imperceptible, with another transparent citrus tone. Perhaps the iris adds a subtle aromatic touch that balances that distant acid with the warm sweetness of the vetiver, making the original Issey essence almost disappear. It’s a simple aroma at first glance, but with hidden engineering and balances that only the brand’s sophistication achieves. Extremely pleasant, high quality without ostentation. Extreme versatility and medium longevity: it gives me olfactory fatigue after 5-6 hours, but people do smell it. It lasts 7 hours without losing its edge: the first 1.5 hours project, and afterwards it’s discreet but stimulating. Suitable for all ages, slightly more formal than the original, far from the Nuit or Intense versions, with no leather or incense, nothing resembling the Fusion. It’s not sweet. Ideal for any occasion, more daytime than nighttime. Perfect for daily wear, long-lasting and socially masculine. Ideal for signing or as a wardrobe staple if you’re a fan of the brand; it’s Issey’s vision of a vetiver cologne, just as Bones and Hall is the movie cannibal version: it’s the excuse for a personal story. Very different from other classic vetivers (Terra d’Acqua di Parma, Encre Noire, Terre d’Hermès, Guerlain); if you’re looking for those, this isn’t it. In summary, consistent, clean, captivating and versatile. If you like the original L’Eau d’Issey but want to rest that citrus scent while keeping the philosophy, it’s ideal. Scent 9, Performance 8.5. Cheers.

  • First time here, learning from the experts. Bought it by chance and I absolutely love it; it smells different from anything I’ve owned before. It has a sweetness my inexperienced nose can’t quite decipher, but it delights me, reminding me of cinnamon even though I know it isn’t. I don’t notice the stages (opening, dry down, base) due to my untrained sense of smell, but what I do smell is divine. I was looking for something different from my entire life and I’ve found it. I can’t specify the trail or exact longevity, but after a few hours I can’t smell it on myself yet others can, so it’s not short. Encouraged by this, I tried the legendary L’Eau d’Issey from 1994 and was disappointed: it smells similar but fresher, bland, and fades quickly with poor performance. Anyway, this Vetiver is much better in my humble opinion. I took 75ml and when it runs out I’ll move to the XL, because lately I use it as an aftershave, what a treat!

  • First time here, learning from the experts. Bought it on a whim and it’s won me over. It smells different to everything I’ve owned (and it’s not by much). There’s a sweet note that my novice nose can’t quite decipher, but I love it; it reminds me of cinnamon, although I know it isn’t. I don’t notice the top or base notes, I suppose it’s my inexperienced olfactory sense, but what I smell is delicious. I was looking for something new and I’ve found it. I can’t say much about the trail or exact longevity, but it stops smelling on me after a few hours while others still detect it, so it’s not short. Encouraged by this, I tried the legendary L’Eau d’Issey from 1994 and it disappointed me: it smells similar, a bit fresher but insipid. It doesn’t speak to me and fades quickly, poor performance (I’ll leave it in the forum in case anyone wants to swap). In short, this Vetiver is much better in my humble opinion. I took 75ml and when it’s finished, I’ll move to the XL, because lately I use it as an aftershave, what a luxury!

  • Here I am again, regretting buying blindly what, if I had smelled it, I wouldn’t have done. Never mind, I have it. Good promotional price. The concept of Miyake Vetiver is wood mixed with herbs and dampness. A fresh, gentle, ethereal, and soft fragrance. It opens with root vetiver and some earth, reinforced by a soft ginger. Halfway through, sage dominates, very aromatic, with a slight aquatic note filtering in at different moments, recalling the Miyake DNA. Soft, daytime, woody. The cap is not like the photo; it is rustic and realistic, like a piece of trunk. Nothing like Miyake’s Wood Wood, which is much more consistent. Clarifying just in case. We’ll see if over time I catch subtleties that aren’t there today.

  • Clear opening to an undeclared yuzu. Less creamy than L’Eau d’Issey, this is sharper due to the predominant vetiver, vibrant and clean throughout the development. It is quite flat but solid and consistent for the entire duration. Of the three Miyake perfumes I’ve tried, the longevity seems limited, but the aroma is high quality with few clear notes. The citrus are hard to maintain and yet the fragrance fights for its life for a good 4 hours, two with strong presence, then it drops but resurges with movement. This vetiver mixed with ginger is very valid and refreshing with aquatic notes; perhaps it is more striking than the original but with less yuzu presence, which could be the signature. I think that, at least for one summer in your life, you must experiment with a Miyake.

  • A sort of Dior Homme Sport 2021 light. Very similar, but with less quality, longevity, and evolution. It smells almost exactly like the opening of the Sport throughout most of its life. Not a bad purchase if you like that DNA. If you can’t afford the Dior, this Miyake is a good substitute. Very versatile and masculine.

  • Second note to clarify: it resembles Dior Homme EDT 2020, not the Sport 2021. The Sport is different, more citrusy, aromatic, and incense-like. Without being a clone, it plays the same game and is as versatile as Homme 2020, especially in the dry-down: a fresh, masculine, and clean woody aroma. Dior is superior in quality, performance, and distinction, more sophisticated with its Iso E Super, rounder and brighter, but this Issey fulfils with dignity and is more sparkling at the opening, ‘Issey style’. I own and use much of this L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vetiver, the Dior Homme Sport 2021, and have just tried Dior Homme 2020, which I will buy when I finish this Issey.

I picked it up in December 2024 for 30€ for 100ml, a brilliant bargain. I see it as perfect for daily wear: fresh and easy to wear. The opening on my skin reminds me a lot of the classic, then I notice the ginger, and closer to the skin, a very fine and not heavy Vetiver. It lasts easily 6 or 7 hours projecting the first two notes. I recommend it without a doubt ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • I bought it in December 2024 for 30€ for 100 ml, a real bargain. Ideal for daily use: fresh and easy to wear. The opening recalls the classic, then I notice ginger, and close to the skin, a fine vetiver that is nothing heavy. It lasts easily 6-7 hours, projecting for the first two. I recommend it without hesitation.

  • On paper, the first impression was ‘I can smell the vetiver’. What a pleasant surprise. I loved it and see it for evening wear. The vetiver is exquisite because they add aquatic notes, turning it into a fragrance I’ll definitely keep in mind.

  • When testing it on blotter paper first, my initial impression was ‘I can smell the Vetiver’ and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved it and for a night out I see it as perfect. The Vetiver is rich because aquatic notes are added, making it a fragrance I will definitely keep in mind.

  • Very much in the style of L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme, but less herbal with a good vetiver balance. Very pleasant, fresh, and elegant for any occasion.

  • Very much in the style of the classic L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme, but less herbal with a very well-balanced Vetiver. Very pleasant, fresh and elegant for any occasion.

  • Very pleasant, but it needs time. The opening is rich, then it shifts to a mid-stage that is less agreeable, but the dry-down is wonderful. A fresh, spiced tone that transports you to a damp field full of flowers, to the top of a mountain. Suitable for all climates and occasions. Although I adore it, I don’t recommend buying without testing first.

  • DiegoSupertramposo

It smells like a pencil sharpener and citrus; although cedar isn’t listed, you can sense it. The opening is citrusy, then it becomes complex, but the dry-down is sublime. I love it, even if the longevity is moderate (around 6 hours). Being less known makes it more appealing and it doesn’t smell like everyone else’s. I don’t like Issey Miyake’s large bottles, but the wooden cap adds a lovely touch. Don’t buy blindly: it has vetiver, so test it on skin. It’s high quality, well-balanced, and the vetiver is expertly crafted. I wear it all year round, especially spring and summer (needs reapplication) and even before bed. It’s not identical to Dior Homme 2020 (I compared them and they differ), nor to the Sport, which is more citrusy. It’s a great daytime alternative at a fair price with enviable quality.

  • I picked up a tester and fell in love instantly. Fresh, with that vetiver note I adore. I detect a hidden yuzu, even though it’s not listed. Yes, it reminds me of Dior Homme 2020. I paid 900 pesos and it’s a gem if you like vetiver.
