Les Tourterelles by Zelmis: Starts with an intense, spicy ivy that fades quickly. Then the ivy and the sting disappear, leaving a very brash rose with geranium (without the peony). As it dries, the blend loses a bit of intensity, which is good, and an aromatic beeswax note emerges. Projection and longevity: around 4-5 hours, but it easily lasts over 8 hours close to the skin without issues. Verdict: A mixed disappointment; the opening is interesting but vanishes in minutes, leaving a shrill, petulant and invasive rose-geranium mix that becomes nauseating. What a pity, because if they weren’t so overpowering, it would be a beautiful and well-matched combination. The ending saves it, where the earlier notes drop in tone and leave a delicious beeswax trail, though always with that rose lingering underneath.
