Luxurious and refined perfume, it smells of money and nothing common, just as its price suggests. I have a decant and I know it will be mine soon. It is a powerful, powdery, sweet, and enigmatic blend, intoxicating and, above all, you won’t find it in the masses. The bottle and presentation are 10/10, representing classic perfumery at its finest. I could describe Empire des Indes as a special perfume; based on the listed notes, you might think it is extremely strong, but the interesting thing is that it isn’t, yet it projects immensely. It is bottled ‘class’.

Empire des Indes: Opening: An intense note of talc (not declared), bathed in Nag Champa, greets us (its scent is identical to the classic Nag Champa incense sticks, whose blue, grey, and black box is sold in any Natura store). Heart: The Nag Champa mellows and the talc dominates as the resines appear; here the fragrance gains sweetness as it dries. Dry down: Curiously, in this final phase and not at the start, the ginger appears (in my case), intermingled with heliotrope and other notes. The combination of talc and Nag Champa is omnipresent, with notes of vanilla and almond (not declared). Projection and longevity: 4-5 hours at a distance, over 8 hours close to the skin. Conclusion: Another success from Oriza L. Legrand; its blend of talc and Nag Champa, though sweet (almost gourmand), is not invasive or dizzying, but an aroma that invites you to enjoy it by bringing your nose close. It has that characteristic vintage touch of the brand, a unique and very special fragrance.

I am surprised they do not mention cinnamon, because what I perceive is a very sharp and rough cinnamon. Sometimes the scent is smooth and sleek, when the resines blend into something like tyre rubber, although I believe that aspect is deeper down. It also has a touch of milk infused with orange peel, but do not expect great edibility; this is more spiced than gourmand, more powdery than juicy. It is friendly and cordial, but nothing extroverted. If it is pastry, it is pastry that does not abuse sugar.
