Something strange happened with this fragrance: I love the opening and the dry-down, but not the middle. The opening is promising, super fresh thanks to the mint and slightly herbal (I think coriander), but it gave me a toothpaste sensation. In the heart phase there’s a note I didn’t like, I suppose it was the rhubarb, as I don’t know what it smells like, while I recognise the other notes. The dry-down is good, woody and with a sweet touch. I think it can be used in any season and for a wide age range. Longevity between 5 and 6 hours.
Finally managed to get this discontinued fragrance. It’s mint, rhubarb and lemon. It smells like a drink designed for summer, like lemonade or flavoured water. The mint gives freshness, the citrus a summery and youthful touch, and the rhubarb adds the herbal element that softens the blend. It has nothing to do with the original Jazz; it seems they wanted to appeal to younger people with this, whereas the original was aimed at their parents. Ideal for any age and a sunny day. It’s one of the best mints in perfumes, a pity they’ve discontinued it. With the heat the mint dominates, but with lower temperatures the rhubarb and lemon take centre stage. If you like mint and find a bottle, don’t hesitate, buy it.

It’s a fresh, versatile scent for spring and summer that doesn’t fall into the generic aquatic lemonade trap. It’s very wearable and refreshing; the mint gives it the perfect kick, especially in the heat. At first I liked it, then not so much, but after the third time, I loved it and now I rotate it with my main seasonal fragrances. The opening is fresh, herbal, vegetal and mentholated, with a pleasant citrus touch. After 15–30 minutes, it becomes a calming green scent reminiscent of peppermint tea, my favourite part. The dry-down is similar to the heart, just a little smokier with vanilla. Overall, a great success for your money. If you like greens or mint, give it a try; it stands out for being different, semi-unique and, being out of circulation, almost no one will smell the same as you.
I owned it, it’s in my top 5 of YSL. Unique and unrepeatable, fresh and herbal, with moderate longevity and sillage; that strange combination of coriander with mint is peculiar. What a shame things like this are discontinued while they keep producing rubbish like Y L’Homme (and its thousands of flankers) and La Nuit de L’Homme.

What a surprise to find this late-90s gem in 2019. I love how fresh it is. The blend of grapefruit, lemon, mint and coriander at the top refreshes anyone on a hot day. The base notes of vanilla, amber and cedar make it warm and very agreeable. I haven’t been able to smell the original JAZZ line except for ‘La Collection Jazz (2014)’, but I would love to. It’s one of those fragrances that makes enjoying a summer day even more pleasant. Here’s another excellent perfume from Yves Saint Laurent, from the good old days.
I bought it by mistake because my dad was gifted the original Jazz and I didn’t realise until it became a pleasant surprise. It smells fresh, aromatic and minty, with notes of grapefruit and cinnamon. Ideal for hot days or summer afternoons. The trail isn’t very strong, but the dry-down lasts a long time; even after washing my shirt, it still smelled of perfume. That speaks volumes about YSL’s quality. Rating: 8/10
Live Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent. I bought it because my dad was gifted the original Jazz and I acquired it without realising it was Live. It was a pleasant surprise. Fresh, aromatic and mentholated fragrance, with notes of grapefruit and cinnamon. Ideal to wear on hot days or summer afternoons. The trail wasn’t very intense, although the dry-down lasted quite a while; many shirt collars still had the scent even after washing, which demonstrates YSL’s quality. Rating: 8/10.
