It is a perfume very similar to XS Black and rich. If you want it to last a long time, apply 3 or 4 sprays, but be careful if people are nearby; apply less. I give it 8 points; people will compliment you, surely someone will tell you how nice you smell.
I bought this because it is too similar to the Black XS by P.R., which I already own, and I think it is a good alternative considering it is much more economical. So far, it has performed well.
This is one of Zara’s best fragrances for young people. It lasts two hours with good projection, then another hour closer to the skin. Be careful not to overapply as it is very economical. It is identical to Paco Rabanne’s Black XS, just with shorter longevity, but you can keep it in your pocket or glovebox and reapply. The praline and lemon notes are very prominent; it smells like a delicious dessert. Women love it and you’ll receive many compliments. I give it 7/10.

Zara Man Gold begins with bergamot and praline. The citrus part fades in 15 minutes to make way for the praline, which is an almond sweet with cream or hazelnut. To me, it reminds me of almond oil and that is its main note. With black cardamom and patchouli, it is not totally sweet, avoiding being gourmand and giving it a masculine touch. It is easy to use and versatile; the name ‘Gold’ suits it perfectly as it conveys opulence and fine luxury without being pretentious. It is suitable for work, school, casual outings, and daily use, but it is not the best for the gym or nightclub; there you need something with more projection. It is one of the few that has remained in Zara for years, which is rare as they discontinue many products. This and others from the Night Collection line, such as Silver, Uomo, and Blue Spirit, have stayed. YezusPerfumo.

As the reviews say, the first thing you think when applying it is that it smells just like Black XS. The praline note is delicious and has good longevity on my skin, from five to six hours, plus it lingers on clothes. I bought it along with Zara Silver, which I’ve read is a clone of Gucci Guilty. Overall I’d give this an 8 out of 10 and the Silver a 7 because it doesn’t last as long…
I’ll start by saying I don’t know if it’s a clone of XS Black as I don’t have one to compare, but my experience with Zara is that it smells exquisite. A touch citrusy, very deep, sweet without being cloying, velvety and aromatic. On my skin it lasts five or six hours, projects over a metre and has a moderate trail. I recommend it highly. Scent 10/10, longevity 8/10, projection 8/10, price 10/10. Final rating 9.5: EXCELLENT PERFUME!
I must confess I don’t have the original to compare, but my experience with this Zara version is brilliant. It smells exquisite: a citrus base, sweet yet not cloying, velvety and aromatic. On my skin, it lasts about 5 or 6 hours, projects more than a metre away, and has moderate sillage. I recommend it 100%. Scent 10/10, Longevity 8/10, Projection 8/10, Price 10/10. Final rating 9.5: EXCELLENT PERFUME!
A very rich fragrance and for the price, there’s nothing to say. You can feel the praline at full strength.
It’s very, very
Smells fantastic and projects genuinely. You can really detect the praline mixed with citrus and cardamom. It lasts about four or five hours. At first it doesn’t seem strong, but it is: yesterday morning, with the day fresh and after a motorbike ride, four sprays flooded my 4×12 metre workspace.
If you like the Black XS line, this perfume is a must-have. It smells a bit less sophisticated than the PR one; but as I said, you must have it. Edit: I found a very similar perfume, it’s the Di que sí by Yanbal. I know it’s a ‘feminine’ fragrance, but it’s nothing like it. It’s totally unisex. Try it combined with Zara Man Gold, you won’t regret it. Ratio 1/1.
One of my favourite fragrances is Black XS, the original. Zara has done a great job in approaching it. The opening is quite alcoholic and synthetic compared to Paco Rabanne’s, but after ten minutes, the great similarity is noticeable (80%). It has lots of praline, a touch of liqueur, some jasmine, and a floral base. I loved this option from Zara. Scent: 8/10, Longevity: 8/10, Projection: 6/10, Sillage: 6/10, Value for money: 10/10, Blind buy: 7/10, Season: mid-season.
Addressing what most people care about: 1) Does it resemble Black XS? Yes, it’s identical. 2) Does it last the same? Absolutely not, it’s very Zara: basically a trinket that evaporates in 60 minutes and leaves no trace when dry. 3) Is it worth it? Go to Zara, find a tester (like I did), and test the longevity and sillage (go with someone to help you). And check if you’re lucky: in my case, a disastrous performance. A thousand times better the Black XS 2018 (which isn’t that expensive either; you can get it at a good price now). P.S.: I’m baffled by those who talk about 6 to 8 hours of longevity. I’m going to steal their skin, hahaha.
For €3, I got the 30ml version of this more than decent Black XS copy. When you wear it, no one will say ‘you’re wearing something similar to Black XS’; rather, they’ll say ‘you’re wearing Black XS today’. It’s remarkably identical.

Absolutely not; it’s very ZARA: basically a trinket that evaporates in 60 minutes and leaves no trace once dry. 3) Is it worth it? Go to a Zara, find a fitting room (as I did), and test the longevity and sillage together. Check your luck: in my case, the performance was disastrous. I tried it in-store and had to buy it. For me, being a woman, or for my husband, something about it felt very familiar and pleasant. This perfume he used, I loved it! I told myself: ‘It’s the same!’. I wear it very cheaply. I barely spritz it, almost nothing. When it dries down, it’s identical to Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue for women! It was the same as the perfume I used to have and loved. I gifted it to him, but I’m going to buy one for myself. What a triumph! I recommend it highly. For women who love DG’s Light Blue Intense as well.
Zara Man Gold. Regarding the notes, Fragrantica shows a few, but Zara declares many more. I do not perceive all the ones Zara indicates, nor all of Fragrantica’s either… I say this mainly for those who want to know the notes to the maximum extent. It is quite linear; at the start, you smell the lemon, quite sweetened by the praline accord. Both are accompanied by an androgynous floral base that adds some freshness and depth to the dry down. The only significant change I perceive is the rise of the praline, accentuating that sweet lemon and the transition from the indefinite floral base to a creamy woody base. They say it is very similar to Black XS; I have not tried it so I cannot comment. The aroma seems good, simple but well achieved, and considering the price, it makes it a good option as a workhorse. It lasts its five hours with projection close to two hours and a trail that is normal, tending towards weak. I do not think it will clash or stand out in any season. I would use it in intermediate seasons, both day and night. Wear it when you feel like it, except for exercise where there are many better options; I do not see it as formal either… I would say casual is ideal. More masculine than feminine according to current trends, but try it anyway as I do not think it would clash on a woman in the slightest. Zara Man Gold. Regarding the notes, Fragrantica lists some, but Zara claims many more. I don’t perceive all of them, neither those indicated by Zara nor those listed on Fragrantica. I’m saying this for those who want to know the maximum. It is quite linear: at first, it smells of lots of lemon sweetened by praline. Both are accompanied by an androgynous floral base that gives freshness and depth. The only notable change is that the praline comes through more, accentuating the sweet lemon and changing the floral base into a creamy woody base. They say it smells a lot like Black XS; I haven’t tried the original so I can’t comment on that. The scent seems good, simple but well-executed, and for the price, it’s a great option for everyday wear. It lasts about 5 hours, projects for around 2 hours, and the sillage is normal, leaning towards light. I don’t think it would clash in any season. I would use it in intermediate seasons, during the day and at night. Wear it whenever you feel like it, except for working out as there are better options, or for very formal occasions where I don’t see it fitting… Ideally, it’s for casual wear. It’s more masculine according to current trends, but on a woman, it wouldn’t clash at all. If you want to see more content, check out my YouTube channel: Perfúmate Con JL.
Respecting others, it is the most faithful clone to the original Black XS you will find. I don’t understand those who are hallucinating that it doesn’t last or project like the original; we are talking about an 80ml clone for €10… For most people who can’t detect hidden notes, after an hour they are identical. I tested both with an old bottle and even with three glasses, it was hard to tell them apart. It was my night perfume; I stopped using it when they changed the formula because nowadays the original costs a fortune and the price is abusive. This one performs very well, flooding the room, sweet and creamy, with lemon and that spiced Moroccan tea touch. It’s the one that has given me the most compliments; there isn’t a night without someone asking what it is. Ideal for 20/30-year-olds, cold weather, and evenings. Scent: 19/10, Longevity: 6/10, Projection: 7/10, Sillage: 7/10, Value for money: 10/10, Blind buy: 10/10.
Respecting others, it is the most accurate clone of the original Black XS (pre-reformulation) you will find anywhere. I don’t understand people going crazy about the longevity and projection being worse; we are talking about an 80ml clone for 10 euros. For average noses that don’t detect 76 notes per second, there is no difference even after an hour; it is identical. I had a bit left in an old bottle, tested both, and with three sprays it is hard to tell them apart. It was always my night fragrance; I stopped using it when they changed it because finding an original pre-2018 for less than 80/90 euros is now impossible and the price is outrageous. This one performs very well, flooding the room just like the original, sweet and creamy, with a lemon opening and that touch of praline and spiced Moroccan tea. It is the perfume with the most compliments; there is no night without someone saying ‘I love it, what is it?’. True for both the clone and the original. Perfect for 20/30-year-olds, cold weather, and nights. Scent: 19/10, Longevity: 6/10, Projection: 7/10, Sillage: 7/10, Value for money: 10/10, Blind buy: 10/10.
I gifted this to my boyfriend, but in the end, I ended up keeping it myself. I love spices, both the obvious ones and the subtle ones. It’s a blast of sensations at first, citrusy and spicy. It’s frustrating how short-lived it is; on my skin, it’s gone in under an hour. Zara, what’s going on with the longevity? Did you forget it in another bottle?
It’s a clone of Paco Rabanne’s Black XS. The scent is absolutely delicious, but the downside is that it fades incredibly fast. I’m not sure if I’d recommend it for that reason.
I’ve had that bottle for about two years and I see it’s inspired by the Paco Rabanne Black XS. It’s 50% similar as Zara Gold is a bit sweeter, better to my taste. Longevity is low.
This perfume smells like a very sweet smoked pineapple in its opening; in its dry down, you can feel the citrus notes, it doesn’t seem to evolve much beyond that. It projects, it’s very nice, nothing cloying, very in the Bogoss style, but more citrusy and smoky. It has projection, what it lacks is longevity, but without problems it passes four hours. I see this as the gentlemanly version, and the Bogoss as the youthful one. I use it in warm weather.
Personally, I think it’s one of the best fragrances from Zara. Fortunately, it’s one of the classics that are always available. It opens with a very rich aroma, similar to a spiced pineapple, although it doesn’t actually contain the pineapple note. Zara Man Gold has excellent value for money: just 349 Mexican pesos (approximately 18 dollars) for 100 ml.
Edited because I just came across a Black XS L’Exces less than 12 hours ago to compare. The truth is it’s very similar in the sweet part, but they differ in that the Paco Rabanne is fresher, both in the opening, that addictive opening that is like pineapple, and afterwards there’s a herbal note that balances everything, whereas this Zara Man Gold is practically the same throughout and the sweetness gets tiring because I associate it with a more edible praline smell, which is the most identifiable note, like a caramelised treat. The Zara Man Gold with its performance isn’t bad, this Black XS I tried was a beast in longevity before and now it didn’t last me anything; it could be because it was old, the weather, my skin, or I simply had it too idealised. The Zara Man Gold (night or cold days) seems excellent for the price if it comes in a combo with the Silver.
Smells very well but doesn’t last at all, like everything from Zara.
Definitely for winter or autumn, for the evenings. I found it very heavy as I sprayed one on the left, one on the right, in front and behind, plus both forearms, and I nearly got a headache; it’s quite strong. It lasted all night. I would recommend using two sprays in front and one on each forearm, and testing durability according to each person. They say it resembles Paco Rabanne Black XS, but I haven’t had the chance to try it to check.
I notice an incredible similarity to Bogoss Vibrant Leather, except the pineapple in this one is a bit sweeter. Very wearable and fresh. A very pleasant aroma at an excellent price. Longevity is what it is, so there’s no problem in reapplying as needed.
Totally warm and sensual feeling. The touch of cinnamon with rosewood gives it a truly attractive and charming body, but its longevity in my case is very poor. It’s a very heavy scent for summer. My friends love it only when they smell it from the bottle; when I wear it, I think it evaporates before anyone notices. For the price, you could put a bit in an atomiser and maybe get more out of it.
I got it together with the Silver and I love both; they are among the few Zara perfumes I’ve actually liked. Good fragrance, but like everything from Zara, it doesn’t last more than about three hours, although it does last a bit longer on clothes. Its trail isn’t heavy, it’s good-average, nothing extraordinary. Perfect for the night and cold weather.
Smells great: starts with acidic lemon, then cinnamon and praline, and dries down to cardamomo on the skin. My skin is very alkaline and it doesn’t last long; the projection is weak, lasting at most half an hour and four hours on the skin at arm’s length. The bottle is versatile, ideal for keeping in the school bag for work or university and reapplying throughout the day. Suitable for everyone up to 50. I use it daily, perfect for autumn and spring, but in summer it might be a bit much as it’s not intrusive. In winter, it falls flat.
