  • I gifted Mefisto Gentiluomo for a year of hard work. I know I often look for excuses to spend on luxury, but my wife gave me a kiss and said I deserved it. I applied several sprays because I hate mediocrity, especially when I am about to write; I do not dare to offer an opinion based on cheap samples, so I bought the bottle. I held my breath to see if it was worth it and… Shazam! What a beautiful presentation. Bells ring out and you are transported back to the best days of your life. It reminds me of Vietnam Opium and I vanish into an impossible garden. Everything is beautiful until you wake from the trance, and amidst the mirages and the harsh reality, you suddenly see a familiar image: Creed Silver Mountain Water. The effect passes; you shake the grass and grapefruit and bitter orange flowers from your shoulders. The resemblance to SMW is tremendous in the second phase, giving you a grimace, a small disappointment if you still have 60 ml of Creed. The truth is, the quality of Mefisto is incomparable and lacks the metallic touch of SMW. It lasts at least two hours, but its deep dry-down endures for over 16 hours. It is beautiful, clear, and navigates between masculine and unisex, a style that Italians love. It is almost universal, hardly rejectable, with a boomerang effect in its opening and second phase, almost plastic in its movement. In this final phase, clean and creamy, sweet floral and bitter vegetal (mint) notes emerge with a subtle citrus spirit of Xerjoff quality. It still has much to demonstrate; I have loved it immensely but it is not yet a definitive work of art; time will tell. For now, it has a story to write with me. I need to experiment more with that deep dry-down, which is a radiant day, the kind of scent that recalls light, wind, and the harmony of those days that exist and few live. Perhaps its greatest virtue is reminding us of that. Moderate-to-high projection and superb longevity.

Everything is beautiful until you wake from the trance, with the mirages and the orgasmic harshness, and you see a known image calidoscopically: Creed Silver Mountain Water. The effect passes; you shake the grass and grapefruit and bitter orange flowers from your shoulders. The resemblance to SMW is tremendous in the second part of its three acts, giving you a grimace, a small disillusionment, especially if you have 60 ml of SMW left. The truth is, the quality of MGU is incomparable to Creed and lacks the metallic touch of SMW. Mefisto Gentiluomo lasts at least two hours, but its deep dry-down exceeds 16 hours. It is beautiful, clear, and moves passing through a razor’s edge between masculine and unisex (a style that Italians like), almost universal, hardly rejected, with a boomerang effect in the opening and second phase, an eternal moving perfume almost plastic. In this final phase, clean, positive, and creamy, sweet floral and bitter vegetal (mint) notes burst forth with a subtle citrus spirit of quality that only brands like Xerjoff back. Mefisto Gentiluomo has much to demonstrate and although I have adored it, it does not reach the status of a work of art; time will tell. For now, it has a story to write with me. • In terms of notes, it is almost identical to classic Mefisto, sharing the same opening but far brighter and fresher. The lavender appears quickly and is noticeable within the first five minutes. Then, in the heart, the rose, iris, and violet blend from the original emerges, though less prominent; here, the lavender takes precedence, imparting an ozonic sensation rather than an aquatic one, more like a herb-covered hillside brushed by the fresh sea air. As it dries, amber appears, creating an oscillating warm-cold feeling that is soft and creamy. As Sergio Momo puts it when naming it Gentiluomo: a proper Italian gentleman, cool, calculating, elegant, and clean. It projects better than the classic, with bursts that carry well. Although it is a top pick for summer, it wears perfectly in autumn because its dry-down is creamy and less fresh.

The lavender note appears quickly and is very noticeable within the first five minutes. Afterwards, in the heart, the rose, iris, and violet combination from the classic appears, but it is not as prominent as in its older brother; the lavender is accentuated more, providing a subtle ozonic sensation, not marine or aquatic in itself, rather a hillside of herbs brushed by the fresh sea air. In the dry-down, amber appears, giving an oscillating warm-cold sensation, soft and creamy. Sergio Momo defines it so well when naming it Gentiluomo: an Italian gentleman in the full extent of the word, cool, calculating, elegant, and clean. It has more longevity than the classic, with occasional bursts that project very well. Although its best performance is in summer, it can be used perfectly in autumn because its dry-down is creamy and less fresh.

I think it’s a great perfume, the best from Casamorati in my opinion. Great similarity with SMW, fresh and pleasant opening, feels weak and shy at first but nothing to do with that. After 10 minutes, the party begins: soapy citrus with a soft, tasty, and sweet violet. Very good longevity, it leaves a skin scent that lasts me 12 hours and on clothes for days. A charming fragrance that could even be worn by a woman without any problem. A very good bet for summer and warm climates. Like this.

A scent very similar to SMW, this one a bit soapy but delicious… a scent to wear with a white dress shirt, suitable for formal meetings. SCENT: 9 LONGEVITY: 10 HOURS TRAIL: MODERATE

  • A flanker of Mefisto/Silver Mountain Water that surpasses the originals. There is little more to say after the good description by @Jimmyvrod. Being less intense and ‘heavy’ than Mefisto and lacking the metallic character of SMW, it is more spring-like and summery, and in my opinion, better and more versatile. It is an ode to lavender, but at the same time fresh and sparkling in its beginnings, then settling into powder and remaining for hours and hours. Not only is its longevity notable, even in summer and in hot weather, but its projection is dilated in time and space. In fact, I would recommend starting to use this perfume with few sprays, just a couple, to later reach the appropriate quantity according to each person’s skin, because this perfume deceives: it seems it will not have great longevity and projection, but it does. Excellent in spring and very good in summer as well.

  • A nice masculine floral, citrusy, with fougère tones of lavender. The star flower is the violet. These aren’t the dark, mysterious leaves of Fahrenheit or Narciso; here, there are flowers, soft and sweet violets. It smells like those purple violet sweets sold in metal tins (I don’t know if they still exist). As it dries, I note a soft leather or suede accord that I love. Interesting.

What a rich and elegant perfume, Mefisto Gentiluomo. It is inspired by old-fashioned barbershops where men not only groomed themselves but held social conversations, but beware, this does not mean it smells old; that would be a great mistake. It is a fresh, invigorating, and elegant scent; being citrus-based, it has significant longevity, projection, and trail, just like its cousin Fiero. It is not just another citrus; it is a floral citrus. I have read many people saying it smells like shampoo, but I will not enter debates; it does not smell like shampoo at all. Continuing with the review, it is a citrus punch mixed with flowers and plenty of musk that gives it cleanliness and sensuality. In the dry-down, that iris and violet emerge, and with the combination of lavender and other citrus notes, it gives a exquisite metaphysical sensation that can recall Creed’s MSW, but for me it is light years away from being the same, as in my opinion Gentiluomo is much better in every aspect. It is more than a perfume; it is a journey of magnificent sensations. 100% recommended for spring and summer, but if you need a boost of elegance and something to lift your spirits on those low days, Mefisto Gentiluomo is a perfect choice.

  • Absolutely magnificent. A perfume wonder. Versatile to the extreme, generating compliments by the bucketload. It’s a shot of energy and elegance. It makes me happy, it brings a smile to my face. Splendid.

  • A classic barbershop masterpiece but modernised, much more versatile for those over 25. Smells like a clean, fresh man, yet not for the elderly. It opens with a fresh citrus note, then lavender and violet enter to aromatised the blend, leaving that typical musky finish. Everyone will love it: novices, collectors, and perfume enthusiasts alike. Simple in concept but they hit the nail on the head. Suitable for daytime wear, but beware: in the war of sweet scents for evening wear, if you put this on, you can hit the target. Good longevity, though it loses a bit in extreme heat; under normal conditions, it lasts about 10 hours (between 9 and 12). Valid all year round and in any situation, informal or formal. Projects heavily for the first two hours (the first hour is sublime) before dropping to a personal bubble but always perceptible. A simple scent taken to the extreme in refinement and balance. Absolutely recommended. I give it a 9 out of 10.

A scent that doesn’t trample or shout. You’ve probably heard it before; in fact, it reminds me of Percival by PDM. Vivid citrus, lavender, and an almost imperceptible violet create a modern fougère that seems innocent yet clings to the skin. I expected more floral strength (I don’t detect the iris) and greater impact, but after trying it several times, I admit that despite its simplicity, it’s very well made. It’s not intrusive, gives a sense of cleanliness, and accompanies you without making a fuss, crying out for spring and summer. Yes, I like it.
