  • Like millions of women, I love visiting MAC for lipsticks, eyeshadows and other cosmetics. Yesterday I bought some -I was going for the new ‘Viva Glam’ which wasn’t yet on sale! Ugh!- but, anyway, I took the opportunity to try these new fragrances inspired by the brand’s most iconic shades, of which I use ‘Ruby Woo’ and ‘Lady Danger’. I tried the corresponding ones and didn’t find them very peculiar (I’ll give them another go later), but I applied the scent corresponding to ‘Heroine’ -a shade I don’t like on my lips, though I admire how other women wear it- to my wrist. I suspected it would be intense and mysterious, and here’s what I found: it boasts long-lasting power and a potent trail, however, this ‘gloomy and dark’ aroma isn’t for me. It was like a ‘freak’ sibling to ‘Opium’, ‘Dew Youth’ and… the air of the times!…Sordid! I showed it to three gentlemen and all three rejected it with insults, calling it ‘ugly’, ‘sweaty’, ‘solvent-like’, ‘perfume for bitter women’…so I left it there. It must be the work of a ‘junkie’ paying homage to their beloved ‘heroin’…Recommended if you like peculiar and extravagant scents and if you intend to repel the male public, this will be a good option. I didn’t detect any incense whatsoever, but it was certainly ‘animalic’ and smelled of tobacco.

It must be the work of a ‘junkie’ paying homage to his beloved ‘heroin’… Recommended if you like peculiar and extravagant scents and if you intend to repel the male public, this will be a good option. I didn’t notice the incense anywhere, but it was certainly something ‘animalistic’ and smelt of tobacco.

I love this perfume; I tested it many times before buying it. It is one of the perfumes that lasts the longest on my skin, over 24 hours. I never recommend buying blindly because it is strong and some notes may not be well interpreted. Although it doesn’t have wood, personally it reminds me of some kind of wood. I do not sense the tobacco smell at all, unlike I sense it in Velvet Teddy from the same brand. Nor does the leather feel familiar to me; I think what I perceive most is the incense and saffron, which combined give it that woody air. It is one of those fragrances with super personality, unmistakable, and once you smell it, you never forget it… something quite uncommon in this sector lately. I see it for people with a well-defined, strong personality, women over 35. Confident, very confident in themselves. The ideal season to wear it is on cold winter days. I am really happy with my purchase, especially regarding the longevity! Well done, MAC!

  • It’s a dark perfume with narcotic, slightly smoky leather notes. It makes me think of a house where opium was smoked (although I don’t know the smell of opium, it makes me think of that atmosphere of dense, stifled air, loaded with delirium and pain). It starts very intense, but as the alcohol dries, interestingly sweet green notes emerge, somewhat powdery, which take away some of the initial harshness. Although the tobaccoed and smoky leather still predominates. Gradually, it takes on a powdery tone with some citrus touches and mellows a bit, although it is noticeable that it has great projection and longevity. It’s a difficult perfume for noses accustomed to mainstream scents. It has a lot of character and presence. It’s for those who do not wish to go unnoticed, especially for not smelling mainstream, being dark, somewhat masculine for female use and somewhat feminine for male use. It has left me enchanted! I don’t think the supposed male rejection is so great, but I do think it’s for those who enjoy those intoxicating atmospheres… It doesn’t smell ‘clean’.

It starts very intense, but once the alcohol dries, some interesting sweet, powdery green notes emerge, softening the initial harshness. Although the tobaccoed, smoky leather still predominates, it gradually takes on a talc-like tone with some citrus touches and mellows a little, though you can tell it has good projection and longevity. It’s a difficult fragrance for noses accustomed to mainstream scents. It has lots of character and presence. It’s for those who don’t want to go unnoticed, especially for not smelling like mainstream, as it’s dark, somewhat masculine for women and somewhat feminine for men. It has left me utterly enchanted! I don’t think the supposed male rejection is that significant, but I do believe it’s for those who enjoy those intoxicating atmospheres… It doesn’t smell ‘clean’…

  • Finally, I have it in my possession and am wearing it on my neck for the first time… I absolutely love it! It’s super special. Don’t let reviews saying it’s for men or women sway you: it’s both! The opening has a certain powdery makeup note that is lovely; it reminds me of the Dior Homme effect, although here there is no iris generating that effect. The blog ‘Que Olor Tiene’ describes it as a ‘rubber’ scent, which is another way of putting it. It also says the opening (approx. 0 to 40 mins) leans towards ‘tobacco and leather bordering on a polluted masculine ambience’, which also seems like an adequate description. I believe the patchouli makes its greatest contribution to the opening, providing a strong, potent balsamic green frame that drops off considerably afterwards. So until it settles, those three aspects coexist alternately, something like rubber – barroom air – something reminiscent of makeup. The incense is smoky at times and powdery at others. Amidst that smoky-powdery sparkle of dry floral and citrus notes (there are no declared flowers, so it must be a floral effect from the combination of woods and spices), a beautiful green note emerges! But it’s not cut grass green; it’s green like leaf juice, dense, dark green, perhaps woody? It’s beautiful! I wonder if it’s tobacco leaf? I haven’t been able to identify that plant… In a video, they say it smells of seaweed and leather, which is not a bad description. But it’s more complex than just that… As for Narciso Rodríguez For Him EDP, they don’t resemble each other much (perhaps only in a slightly wild patchouli)… I don’t know the Intense PD: today my hairdresser complimented it three times; a woman aged 45-50. She kept telling me how good it was! Once it has settled, around 4-5 hours. That’s so they don’t judge it prematurely!

  • Spectacular unisex fragrance, though given its peculiar, rare scent, I find it more suited to men. The opening is strong and projects for several hours; the longevity is tremendous, easily lasting over 12 hours. As for the aroma, it’s a blend of tobacco, patchouli, leather, and incense. It’s not easy to come by, so whoever wears it will have a unique, exotic scent, well outside current sweet standards, and will definitely stand out. Ideal for cold climates. In my opinion, it bears little resemblance to Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather; perhaps only in the leather note, which is very light in My Heroine, whereas in the MAC perfume, the smoky and tobacco notes predominate. I recommend testing it first, given its rare and strong scent.

  • A clear example that NOT EVERYTHING THAT SHINES IS GOLD. The scent is spectacular, the performance is outstanding, and let’s not even mention the price, which is a LAUGH! Unfortunately, it’s very hard to find. How many perfumes costing three or more times its price would offer what this MAC offers.

  • Two nights ago, I wanted to wear it after a shower and reconfirmed that it’s not ‘pandemia friendly’… ugh, I had to take it off because the first phase of the perfume becomes quite unbearable in a closed environment… for me, this perfume is best worn outdoors in the first moments, running errands on the street, walking from one place to another, or travelling in a vehicle with windows open, or something like that… and better suited for cold weather. It was a hot night and it felt a bit linear… nowadays, I’d say I’d like it to have a bit more incense or tobacco sweetness (though perhaps ‘lack of sweetness’ is the impression it generates in warm weather)…

  • My Heroine is a fragrance with the spirit of the 80s. Sensuality, opulence. A citadine, nocturnal, exciting perfume. Wearing it is like stepping into a nightclub or a dance recital with sweaty, colliding bodies to the rhythm of hypnotic music. Clearly, it’s for after 6 pm. If you’re looking for a heavy, exuberant perfume, this could be the answer.

As soon as I sprayed Atomic, Narciso Rodriguez for Him EDT popped into my head, but with a twist I can’t quite decipher. In fact, I’m surprised no one has mentioned it. The resemblance to Tuscan Leather is perhaps only 10%. It’s something dark, powdery and synthetic; while it doesn’t seem like a feminine scent, it has a vibe of feminine makeup. With generous sprays, the longevity is very good, though I’m not sure about the sillage.

  • ATOMIC is a bombshell on skin for 18 hours and an absolute bargain; the best in the SHADE SCENTS line. Once again, I don’t know why such wonderful fragrances disappear or get discontinued. LEATHER, LEATHER and more LEATHER… CHAPEAU MAC!
