A niche Acqua di Gio? It smells good, it’s easy, refreshing, with a summer cut that recalls the coast and breeze, with a soft citrus tone. The first thing that comes to mind is Acqua di Gio. The problem is it’s very similar to others, costs double or more, and offers the same or less. It has quality, but the composition doesn’t stand out nor is it original. I don’t ask for complexity, but for a twist, and this doesn’t deliver. Second problem: performance. About four hours, one projecting to a palm’s width, then close to the skin. Pleasant, yes, but generic, and at that price it’s a NEXT manual. A pity, but try it, it might work for you.

  • I agree with the previous one. It’s unisex, good quality, opens citrusy and dries down soapy at the end, like expensive soap. It smells very well but there are many similar things; it lacks personality and charisma, which is indispensable if you’re paying nearly 200 euros.

  • Simple review: Acqua di Giò Profumo less synthetic, with a nice initial leather touch, but poor trail and longevity, lasting no more than four hours. Pleasant at the start with that leather, but excessively subtle. My skin appreciates it, yet Ocean Leather lasts very little; from the first hour it stays close to the skin, with occasional bursts. It smells good but for me it’s not worth the price.

  • Generic citrus opening like any 20 euro cologne, with a dark basil touch. Same quality as that price range and a composition inferior to other fresh scents like Lanvin L’homme or CK All. After three hours, it smells like Encre Noire Sport but more volatile. Performance is very poor. Scent: 3, Projection: 2, Longevity: 4.9, Originality: 1.5. Not recommended.

The worst of Memo Paris, basically an AdG Profumo twice the price, with a nicer bottle and presentation. A true rip-off.

  • I tested it on skin with a travel sample. I agree with others: it’s an archetype similar to Acqua di Giò, with quality ingredients but lower performance than the Parfum. It’s a niche fragrance with a strong resemblance to designer scents and low performance despite the quality, just like Russian Leather. As the experts say: ‘Perhaps it was once, but today cost and origin do not define creative value’.

Ocean Leather by Memo Paris doesn’t smell bad, but I wouldn’t buy it honestly. It’s fresh with a strong green note at the start, with something citrusy and floral but very subtle; I can’t detect any leather. It’s unisex, though I’d prefer it on a man. It reminds me of a generic cologne; I don’t find much personality in it. It smells nice but nothing that turns your head. There are better options for the price.

  • While many say it’s like Aqua di Gio, for me it isn’t quite. Perhaps in the opening, but this Ocean Leather smells cheap for a niche fragrance. I detect quality ingredients found in any designer brand. The note I notice most is mandarin; it’s a CK One Summer that costs 200 euros. My wife smelled it and said ‘it’s nice, but it’s too soft’. In other words, it doesn’t project much either.

  • Although many compare it to Aqua di Gio, it’s not the same for me. Perhaps in the opening, but this Ocean Leather feels cheap for a niche fragrance; it uses quality ingredients you can already find in designer scents. The most noticeable note is the mandarin, reminiscent of a CK One Summer that costs 200 euros. My wife smelled it and said ‘it’s nice, but a bit too soft’. So, it doesn’t project much either.

  • Fresh, aquatic, with a spicy and woody touch, very green and citrusy. Honestly, I detect no floral or leather notes at all; the house seems to have an issue with the names, as this smells nothing like leather. Ideal for scorching Spanish summers or holidays in Menorca, it handles 42 degrees easily. However, be warned: there are very similar, better-performing options at half the price. If you’re spending 500 euros, then yes, it’s perfect for your yacht.
