I have a sample; it’s brilliant, exquisite. Long-lasting with excellent projection. Along with African Leather, these are the best I’ve tried from Memo. Pure quality. You pay for something that lasts, leaves a trail, and projects; a safe buy.
It arrived today; I bought it blind with few expectations, and honestly, it left me with the feeling of going to the cinema for a premiere you’ve been waiting for, only to have the ending spoilt before it even starts. The magic, the illusion, all thrown in the bin. It’s not much different from Yuqawam Pour Homme, Godolphin, or Acqua di Parma. It keeps the same leather base but adds a layer of green floral notes that strips away the darkness and gives it a shine. Fresh at first, then as it dries, vetiver, cypress, galbanum, and iris emerge. Unfortunately, I already owned Yuqawam Ambergris over a year ago, and this smells identical. Everyone said Ambergris was the same as Irish Leather, but it seems our olfactory sensors and memories failed in the comparison. All the same, it’s very good for fresh weather. Scent 5.5/10, trail 8/10, projection 8/10, longevity 9/10.
What happened with this fragrance is that I can’t pinpoint which note stands out, from the opening to the dry down. It smells green, earthy, woody, and I sense the iris… but all at once. It seemed quite linear and not very complex. It left me wanting more; I feel it’s a masculine scent for autumn and winter. However, I wouldn’t buy it as Memo has options far superior to this.
I bought this blind, one of my first niche fragrances; I took a risk and I admit it. The opening was wild—very herbal with leather—but within minutes, the iris took over, turning it clean and musky without losing that green freshness or the leather. Then comes the mandarin, a luxury citrus. It caught me off guard; it’s very different, especially since I’m not a huge fan of herbal scents. I’ve worn it only a few times so I can’t comment on longevity, but it’s an 8.5/10 and super versatile for any weather or occasion, exactly what I was looking for.
