Golden Nose
What a wonderful thing! The blend of citrus and ginger with powdery iris and ambergris is a winning combination for the shoulder seasons. If you like the ambergris in Layucawam Ambergris Showers or Irish Leather, this has a similar effect but is more polished and fresh thanks to the ginger. Longevity exceeds 12 hours without fading like a hound’s trail, with a noticeable trail for the first 4 hours, then in bursts. Tested in spring at 23 degrees in a work environment. 8 sprays. 100% unisex. Semi-formal to formal use. Preferably daytime, though it doesn’t clash at night. Autumn and spring. Over 30 years old. Longevity over 12 hours. Moderate projection, 4 hours. Very prominent sillage. Scent: 4 stars. Versatility: 4 stars. Originality: 3 stars. Rating: 8/10.

KAFF by Tiziana Terenzi is an elixir in the air, a gin and tonic with spices. Virginia juniper, fresh and vibrant, blends with a soft, elegant iris, accompanied by the perfect citrus touch that complements a white leather wrapping up and closing a scent dance and a subtle journey. Projection is moderate to low but packed with quality and elegance. Lasts around five hours on skin. I inevitably compare it to Fauno by Agatho, one of my favourites; I see it as his cousin, sharing a very polished cedar note in the base, with KAFF being slightly more versatile and fresh.

Pure juniper essence, green and soapy, like that herbal shaving soap that leaves you smelling of the woods for a good while; it projects and lasts a very long time. The opening is top-notch but deceptive: on skin, only that green aromatic vibe remains.

Expert noses might say it smells of Virginia juniper and leather, but to me it recalls the taste of beetroot and celery juice; I adored the aroma.
