  • Maremma bears a striking resemblance to Black Orchid, yet without sharing the floral notes, the similarity is quite noticeable. It feels more feminine and sweet, more natural and less mysterious, though equally dark and alluring, with a silkier texture. You can detect the cocoa and patchouli throughout its entire evolution. It is sweet but not overwhelming, positioning it as an autumn-winter fragrance. The longevity is worthy of an extrait, lasting 12 hours or more; it becomes richer and more chocolatey in its dry-down, yet you still sense that blend of honey and fruit that keeps it creamy and sparkling. I would say it is like Black Orchid’s more refined, feminine, and natural cousin. And the bottle… simply gorgeous.

I was surprised to read so many comments claiming it resembles Tom Ford’s Black Orchid… I bought it today, expecting that similarity upon application. But noooooo… mmmmmmmMaremma! It is fantastic, fascinating, evolving, intense, anything but discreet, distinct, fabulous, and boasts an incredible projection. There is no trace of the alleged resemblance (at least on me), and that is wonderful, for otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. Do not be afraid of its intense opening; let it settle, and then you will discover that treasure within that black, square, minimalist, and simple bottle. 10 out of 10 to mmmmmMaremma!!!!

I was surprised to read so many comments saying it resembles Tom Ford’s Black Orchid… I bought it today and, upon testing it, my brain was prepared to expect the similarity. But noooooo… mmmmmmmn! mmmmmmmMarema is brilliant, fascinating, ever-changing, intense, nothing discreet, distinct, fabulous, and with a superb projection. Not a trace of what they say about the similarity (at least in my case), and how good that is, because otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. Do not be afraid of the intensity of its opening; let it dry and then you will discover that treasure hidden inside that black, square, minimalist, and simple bottle. 10 absolute to mmmmmMarema!!!!

  • In Maremma, I find a very creamy blend of patchouli and sandalwood, with a potent cacao and sweet floral nuances. Overall, it smells very much like Black Orchid; in fact, if I smell them separately, I struggle to distinguish them. Comparing them directly, however, there are differences: Maremma smells more natural and has better performance than the latest versions of Black Orchid, which are more watery and have just adequate longevity. For lovers of the original Black Orchid versions. Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Projection: 8, Value for money: 5, Versatility: 6, Originality: 6, Overall: 9.

It’s a dark and intense fragrance. It opens with an almost vintage floral top note dominated by ylang-ylang, which doesn’t quite suit me. Once it dries down (around 20 minutes), it transforms into a dense blend of cacao (not chocolate) and honeyed patchouli, with a wet oud base; interestingly, if you sniff it properly, beneath the wet woodiness emerge the sweet, delicate notes of sandalwood and rosewood. The notes feel natural. It’s an elegant scent, perfect for a gala evening party. Very beautiful and super long-lasting (12+ hours). Heavy trail.

  • Dupeolo Terenzi’s luxury equivalence house clones the original Black Orchid formulation, capitalising on the fact that newer versions of the original have toned down significantly.
