  At first I notice sweet citrus notes, but the pineapple gains strength in the essence. I don’t detect any coconut. Although many compare it to Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle, for me they aren’t that similar; perhaps it has a hint of that, but it’s a different essence. I wear it from spring until late summer, exactly what I’m looking for in these seasons. The longevity is very good, surpassing six hours, and the sillage is moderate to wide. It’s not a weak or feeble perfume. I’ve really enjoyed the experience and am enjoying it to the full.

  I thought that by the name it would smell of Cuban tamarind, that acidic and sweet-sour pod, but Moschino’s Toy Boy surprised me: its opening is more of a spiced, smoky rose with elemi. Memo’s Tamarind, on the other hand, evokes the coastal beaches of Costa Rica. It’s solar, fruity and delicious, with a central pineapple tied to clean, musky aldehydes. It’s not soapy, but rather feels ‘fizzy’, like a pineapple soda with bergamot and mandarin. There’s a phase that very faintly recalls Coco Mademoiselle and Miss Dior 2012, sharing patchouli, jasmine and vanilla, but without copying them. Its heart is a soft patchouli with jasmine, the spiced pineapple with cardamom and sweetened with vanilla. It’s luminous and tropical, fresh but not watery, fruity-citrusy-ambered. Daytime, though usable at night, unisex (though some might see it as feminine due to comparisons). Perfect all year round except in extreme cold. A real delight and my first foray into Memo outside their ‘Leathers’ collection.
