Descripción

Girl of Now by Elie Saab is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2017, this composition was created by Dominique Ropion and Sophie Labbe. Upon release, pistachio, pear and mandarin provide a fresh and fruity opening. The heart reveals a harmony of almond, orange blossom and magnolia, while the base settles on almond milk, tonka bean, cashmere and patchouli.

  • Girl of Now is the peak of sweetness in fragrances I know; it’s super potent and warm. For me, it’s totally nutty: almond, pistachio, and tonka bean. It has marathon performance and a moderate price. Who will like it: only those who love super-sweet perfumes.

  • VainillaDulce

I have tried (and I really do try) not to jump on the hype bandwagon; I try to smell different, so I struggle to stay away from very popular perfumes, alas, I’m not having much success with my goal, but I do try. Girl of Now is a fragrance that had incredible glory and I did buy it, in fact, because of all the fuss it caused. Today it doesn’t shine as brightly because it’s hard to find; I think it’s already discontinued, but against the wind and tide, it remains a very popular and beloved perfume. It’s hard for such a sweet fragrance to have ‘class’; in this case, Girl of Now certainly has that touch. Many people compare it to Poison Girl, and it’s true; they walk down the same street. However, I consider that Girl of Now has many more nuances; it’s more worked, more complex. Girl of Now is a beautiful, cheerful end-of-year dance, where the almond, pistachio, cashmere, orange blossom, and tonka stand out on the dance floor with rather eccentric dance steps. A little off to the side of the dance floor is the patchouli, struggling to stand out and shining with its own light. A comforting, warm, very sweet perfume that managed to stand out within a sea of sweets.

It’s a deliciously rich gourmand. It literally reminds me of a Turkish delight of pistachio, with almonds and honey (although the latter note isn’t on the list). On my skin, the dry down leaves a sweet, talc-like aroma.

  • Loads of almond/nut scent from the moment you apply it until it dries down, then it softens and leaves a rich sweetness… it’s not my type because the nutty scent is overwhelming. It gives me a headache; for me, it’s a cheap version of Pure XS.

  • Perfumesjuveniles

It smells of almonds, just as described. For me, it’s not as sweet as I’ve read; I don’t see that extreme sweetness people mention; if they say this is sweet, they’ve never smelled Pink Sugar; that is literally the sweetest thing I’ve tried. It smells exactly as the box says: almond, orange blossom, and patchouli. It was a blind buy; I purchased it because I smelled they were discontinuing it and it had always caught my eye, plus it was a good price. I like it; it smells different from what I own, and I think it’s perfect for winter if you don’t like vanilla; it’s very gourmand and I think it suits almost any age. I wanted a sweet gourmand that wouldn’t cloy me; it usually happens to me that I end up feeling cloyed. I like it, but I don’t see it as something to buy blind. If you want a warm winter perfume that isn’t overly sweet, give it a try; on my skin, it’s nuts. It’s quite a bomb; I think it will have excellent trail and longevity; I put it on a couple of hours ago and it still smells a treat. Edit months later: the opening is quite unpleasant, but leave it 15-20 minutes to settle and the almond notes will emerge. The positive is the dry down; the opening is very strong and synthetic for my taste.

  • I loved it. It’s incredibly sweet and creamy, with a wide trail and very good longevity. I recommend it to those who love sweet scents.

  • It’s a good fragrance, but I don’t see it for anyone under 25. It seems like a sweet but very mature perfume, à la Givenchy. I find it super-citric; on my skin, that’s what stands out most, like an orange cake with pieces of almond. The longevity is passable; on my skin it lasts 5-7 hours and the trail is quite wide.

  • I confess that seeing it on offer, reading the glowing reviews, and being in love with the little bottle, I bought it blind… and horror. It is not at all my style; in fact, I dislike it. It smells of pistachio, nuts, and vanilla. Being someone who prefers florals, I regret not choosing another version. I don’t recommend buying it blind; I’d never smelled anything like it before. I was more into florals and musks. I’m looking to vary my collection, but this is a definite discard. Fortunately, I bought the small size; as a decorative object, it looks lovely. Do you recommend layering it with anything? It’s a shame I can’t use it.

  • Maria Teresa

I’ve tested it quite a bit to form an opinion: it opens with a juicy, sweet mandarin, nothing acidic, green, or oxidised. It then evolves into a fine amaretto-style almond scent; I don’t detect the pistachio on my skin. It’s ideal for the change from autumn to winter, develops beautifully over time, has a good trail for the first four hours before fading. The quality-to-price ratio is good; it delivers on its promise.

  • Ilovelove

To the one who said it wasn’t for them, I recommend layering it with Alien; it smells absolutely fantastic.

  • I had high expectations and it disappointed me… It is sweet, warm and almond-y, nothing more. On my skin I detect the pistachio and a bit of mandarin at the start, then it is almonds, tonka bean and patchouli. I do not see any personality; it fulfils its purpose but is not addictive and I cannot distinguish it from others. The trail is moderate, lasting seven hours, although I reapply before because by five hours only a hint of tonka bean remains. I bought a decant before and I will definitely not buy the full bottle. Poison Girl and Black Opium have more personality and a distinct DNA than this one.

  • FloorPerfumeadicta

Love at first sniff ❤️. What a perfume! Ideal for autumn and winter with those sweet almonds, vanilla and pistachio. I eat it with my eyes closed; it is super addictive; every time I put it on I feel like eating almond paste with vanilla and dulce de leche. Exquisite. If you like intense sweets, you will love it. Test on skin first. Longevity 10, scent 10, packaging 10. I would buy it a thousand times. It cannot be missing from my collection!

  • Very rich, but it smells like Flancito, just more expensive. I will enjoy it a lot, but I don’t think I will buy it again because in my country it is expensive and there are many with a similar vibe that might be found on promotion.

  • Stephaniemvp

It arrived today and I melted 🤤. I am a fan of gourmands and it did not disappoint: it smells of fine patisserie, has a lasting trail and I loved it.

  • I love it!! I adore the sexy opening, like Poison Girl, which then changes into sweet, cosy almond milk. It has become addictive. I bought it blindly and I don’t regret it at all.

  • Eva_ambrossia

I just bought it and I had already been eyeing this brand. I love that it smells like Violet Blossom by Zara, my dream, but this one lasts longer. It arrived unopened and you can already feel its scent. I trust the reviews and I am happy: I think I have found another signature perfume and I am in trouble because I must get the 90ml quickly, as they say it is being discontinued. If you like sweet scents without being dizzy or cloying, you must have it.

  • I bought it completely blindly and it is sweet but soft, nothing cloying. The almond and vanilla are very noticeable.

  • Elizabeth_M00nlight

Sweet, though I find it a little cloying, so I reserve it for cold days. It smells of pistachio snow with syrup, potent at first like a mature sweet, similar to Burberry Her. I bought it blindly at 19. Would I recommend it? Yes, if you like gourmand scents. Would I buy it again? The bottle is beautiful, but probably not, although I still enjoy it from time to time.

  • It is one of the best with almonds, nuts and pistachio I have tried. It lasts eight to ten hours on my skin and smells delicious. It is cosy, very wearable and neither cloying nor overly complex. I always receive compliments when I wear it.

  • A perfume that caught my attention greatly due to its notes, but when I went to smell it, I didn’t like it. It smells too sweet and cloying to me, even with a synthetic touch that doesn’t quite convince me. I don’t know why, but it smells to me like a caramelised lollipop. Perhaps I’ll give it another try at another time. @fleurparfumée I have Macaron Amande and they don’t resemble each other; perhaps they share a family resemblance, but Macaron is more lactonic and its dry-down is lighter. I like it much more.

  • Emer Siabato

I deleted my initial review by mistake, but I can confirm the key is to let it settle: the magic appears with time. After weeks of use, I left it forgotten during the eternal summer, and now, at eight months, it is my favourite perfume forever. Warm and with an incredible pistachio note, it starts sweet like mandarin and turns bitter and creamy, like almond milk with vanilla. It brings me peace and joy. The trail isn’t huge but lasts eight hours on my skin. I’m dying to try the rest of the line, and those bottles are gorgeous.

  • karugervazoni

My first impression was negative. I hated the opening, as I detected a syrupy pistachio note, but after a few hours, it transformed into a sweet, intoxicating scent. I started smelling my wrist where I had applied Girl Of Now and, magic! It was this perfume. I loved it so much that I had to buy it. I won’t say I adore the opening, but we’ve made peace; it no longer offends me. Fortunately, it lasts only a few minutes before the charm begins. I don’t usually like almond or nutty perfumes, but this one stole my heart and automatically became one of my favourites. In fact, I own two bottles. Previously, I had GON Forever, but I must say they are not alike; I exchanged that one because I never fully liked it. Now I’m eager to get GON Shine. I forgot to mention what it smells like: to me, in the heart and dry-down, it resembles an almond cream with vanilla and orange blossom. A delight, ideal for cold climates, sweet but not cloying. It has excellent longevity and a moderate sillage. Have I convinced you to buy it? Haha.

  • Perfumesjuveniles

I’m writing a year after purchasing it and I absolutely love it; it’s perfect for specific occasions and very cold days. If the temperature goes above 10 degrees, I wouldn’t wear it, as I believe this fragrance is best enjoyed in the cold. The little bottle is the most beautiful one I own, 10/10, with good longevity and a lovely trail.

  • Well, it’s called Girl of Now, so what could one expect? I’ve laughed a lot imagining it’s the perfume the Malibu Stacy from Lisa would wear when someone pulls her by the string and she says: ‘don’t ask me, I’m just a girl’. It’s very rich, addictive, and cloying, but it falls into the same mould everyone uses: a caramelised vanilla little dessert (thanks to ambroxan and a waterfall of synthetics). It lacks personality and a surprise factor, but if you want to smell rich like everyone else, it’s perfect because it projects and lasts a long time. It’s the perfume for my new Tinder date where they ask what I do and I smile, holding my strawberry daiquiri with Malibu coconut. PS: please stop asking Mr Dominique for commercial fragrances, he’s meant for much more. PS2: if you’re looking for something in this style but elegant and refined, try Sound of Donna by Trussardi.

  • I tried this and Girl of Now Lovely a few hours ago. At first, I didn’t like this one, but I did like the Lovely (even my boyfriend preferred it). As the hours passed, this one improved and I found it richer, though nothing special, while the Lovely was no longer noticeable. The next morning, this one was still on my skin, whereas the Lovely wasn’t. The truth is, I don’t think it’s worth it because there are other perfumes that are rich from start to finish and last longer.

  • I had high hopes for this perfume, but what a disappointment. It’s a excessively sweet and cloying blend where neither the pear, the almond, nor the orange stands out, nor anything else; just a heavy, synthetic scent that, once I realised what it was, I was about to vomit and felt terrible all day. I remember it and it makes me sick.

  • Princesa2000

I’m a gourmand fanatic and had high hopes for this scent, but it disappointed quite a bit. I only detect an intense almond note mixed with a completely linear floral part. It seems like an ordinary and vintage fragrance. I wouldn’t recommend it.

  • cherrylady

Yes, yes, and yes. This was exactly what I was looking for: a Poison Girl that feels younger and more authentic. While the original felt too severe when it dried down (perhaps due to the spicy base), this one maintains its tender sweetness from start to finish. It feels very current, even if not groundbreaking; some might see it as a boring concept or cloying vanilla, but for me, seeking something for winter, it was a marvel. It’s a pistachio, almond, and vanilla gourmand that dominates everything, even the fruits. The white flowers appear later in the background, which I love because pure floral scents sometimes overwhelm me, but here they complement perfectly without stealing the show from the vanilla and nuts. Plus, the pistachio is a unique touch I haven’t felt in almost anything (only in Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc). For gourmand lovers, it’s a 100%. It’s exclusively for winter and, due to its tenderness, I recommend it only for daytime. Here in Argentina, we’re in autumn, and I tested it yesterday with high humidity and 20 degrees; it became too much, suitable only for very cold days. I’d have to keep it until July or August. By the way, I read it’s similar to Zara’s Violet Blossom, which I adore. I have the 2023 version and don’t feel much similarity on my skin: Violet Blossom is much more powdery and floral with soft vanilla, whereas in GON, the almond and tonka take precedence.

  • Isaesparza

A delicious, sweet, almond perfume; I don’t smell the pistachios as much as I would like, but it is delicious. This perfume made me think literally, ‘this is the scent I’d want people to remember me by.’ It’s like a sweet almond cream dusted with pistachio, a touch of tangerine and tonka bean. This fragrance clicks with my skin in such a beautiful, clean way 🥹 my husband can’t stop smelling me when I wear it; it’s like a magnet for him… it’s tender, very tender. The trail is soft/moderate and doesn’t last long on me, but that’s my pH and happens with practically all perfumes, as it lasts on my clothes until I wash them.

  • marinalazo92

Mixed feelings about this fragrance. It was a mistake to buy it blindly… I wanted something different, I loved the descriptions about pistachios (a rare note) and almonds… I felt it would be a sophisticated sweet scent, but no; it’s very cloying. The aroma is rich, but I’ve smelled it thousands of times. On my skin, it has a style very similar to Scandal By Night, which is a good perfume, but the honey note is too much for me; it’s super cloying and gives me a headache, so I gifted it. It’s heavily duped, for example by Cher 18, and this GON takes me there. It’s a pity because I had high expectations… in short, just another cloying sweet scent. The good thing is that after a few hours the intensity drops a bit and it becomes creamy… but I wouldn’t buy it again and I recommend testing it on skin first.

  • Manu_speranza

It instantly reminded me of Reebok’s Inspire Your Mind. To be precise, I bought the Reebok blindly first, and later tried Girl in a perfumery, where it reminded me of that scent. Obviously, they are different qualities, but I can assure you they are almost identical. They both share the pistachio note, which is what stands out most in both. If you like G.O.N, you have a super cheap dupe from Reebok.

  • Yes and no, it’s a bit strong. I find it slightly cloying, and I must say I do like these kinds of scents. I think it has a faint resemblance to Scandal 🤔 perhaps I’m wrong, but that’s how I perceive it.

  • Elizabeth2004

I agree with the other reviews. I like sweet scents, so I thought it would smell different… it’s far too cloying; I didn’t like it. I have nothing against synthetic aromas, but I expected this to be more sophisticated.

  • Leticia Vazquez

Girl of Now is a lovely perfume. It has a slightly talc and vanilla aroma. Zara’s Violet Blossom has a slight resemblance to GON. It’s enjoyed very well in winter and has good longevity. Its bottle is gorgeous.

  • It’s a delicious perfume; I get many compliments when I wear it, especially in autumn and winter… ☺️

  • Casablanca77

Girl of Now is quite sweet, but in that playful aroma, the neroli dances with its soapy scent before the sweetness takes over. Personally, I don’t see more resemblance to Poison Girl than its ability to envelop you in sweetness, as the Dior is pure vanilla. However, the Elie Saab has a marked almond sweetness with a very toasted tonka bean that must be amplified by the pistachio. It’s a different pistachio from the sugary ice-cream pistachio scent found nowadays. It’s lovely and also very long-lasting. It seems harder to find and try now; I don’t know if it will be discontinued entirely. With so many sweet perfumes on the market, it wouldn’t be surprising, and being from 2017, as the perfume industry works now, it’s almost a dinosaur. If you like sweet with floral soapy traces (only at the start) and want sweet almond-tonka rather than sweet vanilla, give it a try; it’s very cute.

  • Can you imagine a child between Scandal and Yes I am? That’s Girl of Now, plain and simple. It smells like a mix of those two fragrances; it’s very, very sweet, too much for me. Nothing new, just another hyper-sweet scent.
