Pleasant, quite so, but very similar to Armani’s My Way Parfum and Lancôme’s Iris Absolu. Having all three would be redundant, unless you are a total freak for that olfactive profile and don’t mind owning several. I’ll give it a second go to see how it behaves on skin.
A testament that it will become a classic and very popular, what a work of art. It bears no resemblance to My Way in the slightest; honestly, I’d rather have My Way… I can’t stop thinking about it since I tested it, just like the first time I tried Coco Mademoiselle. When I get it (hopefully soon), it will be one of the most detailed reviews. Oh my goodness, if you can, go for it NOW!
It bears no resemblance to My Way or La Vie est Belle Iris Absolu; those smell like makeup, whereas this Elie Saab does not. It is an iris and Ámberwood beast: sweet, ambered, talcum-powdered and resinous. It is a friendly talcum-powder scent, not smelling of old makeup; it is exquisitely elegant. If you like that profile, you will love it. It lasts a fortune.
It shares DNA: jasmine, orange blossom, gardenia, but with double the iris and no neroli. It includes dark chocolate. It is a beauty, although from the same brand I prefer Le Parfum Essentielle, White or Lumiere. Elegance and good taste.
Very elegant. I detect a gorgeous velvet iris in the heart. I disagree with those who equate it to My Way or La Vie est Belle, because it is not sweet at all. It is a woody floral. It reminds me of Givenchy’s Irresistible.
What a BO-NI-TO perfume! Full of neroli, obviously. Perhaps that’s why it resembles My Way or Scandal, but they have nothing to do with each other. If I had to compare, it’s with Scandal Absolu: same style but different, so having both isn’t redundant. It’s like that classmate who looks similar but isn’t, that’s how different it is. It’s fantastic, very evolving and long-lasting, sweet without being cloying (unlike the Absolu, which is). Buy it!
Elie Saab never fails. It is a jewel deserving of more fame. I tested it first on blotter: balanced iris and mandarin, neither powdery nor fruity, serious and elegant. Over time, a dark, mysterious vanilla (unlisted) with myrrh and resins emerges. It reminds me of the dry-down of L’Interdit Rouge Ultime; having both would be redundant, so when my Givenchy bottle finishes, I’ll go for the Elixir. Update: I’ve now tested it on skin. The opening is less good, very powdery and vintage, like Guerlain’s Insolence. But the dry-down is marvellous.
Emotional and disappointing in turns: at first it was pure magic, a dry-sweet blend with woody and floral notes giving it a sexy, characterful touch, plus a gorgeous bottle. Elie Saab usually nails longevity and projection, but here it doesn’t last long enough; eventually it smells like other dry sweets such as Eclat or La Vie est Belle, without the staying power to justify the price, leaving me with a ‘meh’ compared to what it promised. I ended up with another from the brand and sold my Elixir E.S.
