Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense by Guerlain is a woody oriental fragrance for women. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk. The top notes reveal lavender, mandarin and bergamot; the heart unfolds Tahitian vanilla, Madagascar vanilla, iris, sambac jasmine and rose; while the base notes complete the structure with coumarin, patchouli, licorice, benzoin, Australian sandalwood and white musk.

  • Mon Guerlain Intense, another flanker in the line I love (except for Bloom of Rose). If you didn’t like the original, this might not convince you either. It’s more woody and linear. For lovers of the vanilla in the saga, it’s pure delight. It shares the DNA with vanilla, tonka, and lavender, but here sandalwood and benzoin take the lead. I didn’t feel the astringent lavender-bergamot sensation; it goes straight to the warm phase of sandalwood-vanilla-tonka-benzoin. To my taste, it’s the most winter version so far. I can’t speak to the longevity as I only tried it in-store, but in fresh weather it will be evaluated better.

  • The Intense smells like Mon Guerlain but much sweeter. Being so sweet, it lasts longer and leaves a bigger trail, but it loses that tender elegance of the classic. It stops being sensual and discreet to become one that demands attention while juggling. It doesn’t smell bad, but the dry-down offends me: it leaves a super loud and graceless patchouli.

  • I tend to be picky about perfumes. I’m tired of the mediocrity where you see the pyramid and think ‘cedar, but what about sandalwood?’. I’m not looking for something overpowering or as cheesy as a cookie. This perfume smells a bit chemical and forced in its development. The rest is the classic saga: that secret note of butter cookie, vanilla, tonka, and soft lavender, with a base of patchouli and white musk that perhaps causes that forced tone. It lasts a long time and intensely. Personally, I prefer the scent of the Florale, even if it’s less potent.

  • La plus belle

Mon Guerlain Intense was a love at first sight and first sniff. The bottle is pure elegance and warmth, and the contents are even better. It keeps the essence of the EDP but with an incredible development. Super mega recommended.

  • The saleswoman told me it was vanilla, and an angel whispered, ‘Try it, it’s creamy’. A devil retorted, ‘You’ll get stuffed with sugar’. The angel won. The blend with lavender is top-notch. Although I’m not a fan of sweet things, this is balanced, classy, and performs brilliantly.

  • Absolute fragrance bomb. It respects the original but with more punch; as it dries down, the vanilla and patchouli take over. If you don’t have the classic Mon Guerlain, buy the Intense: it’s the same scent at 85% but with far more presence.

It has a super powerful opening, but then it fades. What I felt most at the beginning was the lavender; then, after a while, the floral scent remains, very similar to the original but a bit more intense. If you don’t have the first one, buy this: it has better sillage and greater longevity. Guerlain’s notes are always floral, a very well-combined talc with that element that doesn’t stand out or is there. Vanilla-forward and the lavender is very well worked. Moderate sillage and good longevity.

  • It’s a very pretty, simple and elegant bottle; this flanker has a darker liquid than the Original. I was eager to try it and based on some reviews I could have bought it blind because I love the Mon Guerlain so much. Don’t do it! It’s not a perfume to buy blind. I’ve worn it for two hours and I have a headache. The opening is extremely intense, overwhelming; it’s not a perfume to wear right before seeing someone. It’s one of those perfumes you smell and it even hurts your eyes. The opening is definitely an intense lavender; on me, the dominant heart notes are vanilla and iris, but the dry-down… God! The musk combined with patchouli and sandalwood smell extreme. I don’t smell much of the licorice or benzoin; it smells like a granny perfume, without intending to offend, like a perfume you’d give to an elegant lady over 50 who likes these scents. It lacks the lightness and freshness of the original. That said, it has a powerful sillage and longevity that won’t go away even if I wash myself many times with soap. I don’t like it, I wouldn’t buy it.

  • I was eager to try Guerlain as I can’t find it in Chile… until I found a seller on Mercado Libre with good comments and ranking. I spent days debating between the original and the Intense and decided on the latter, and you know what… it disappointed me. It lasts very, very little and besides, it smells like all the gourmand types such as La Vie Est Belle. I don’t know if my heart can take so much pain… I give it a 3 out of 10 just because it does smell nice, but meh…

I let myself be carried away by the reviews and bought it blind. It’s a perfume whose opening is strong; after an hour on my skin its intensity drops. I recommend trying before buying, as in my case it’s a scent that doesn’t captivate me, somewhat masculine, and on me it doesn’t perform as the reviewers comment. To me, it’s like a car air freshener.

If you could have a signature fragrance, I’d wish it were this one, but I have a problem: I like to change scent according to my mood or location. What’s undeniable is that I love this fragrance because it makes me feel romantic, sensual and super calm. I don’t know if it’s the lavender perfectly combined with vanilla, rose and sandalwood, but it leaves me in total peace. As a bonus, it provokes many compliments, especially from men. Rating: Longevity 9/10, Sillage 9/10, Scent 10/10.

  • I can understand why it’s so highly praised by men because the fusion of lavender, iris and sandalwood is impeccable, definitely perfect. Personally, I’d love to wear this fragrance as a man; I love that intense, penetrating creaminess and I certainly feel it’s unisex. (Unisex that I actually like).

  • In the opening, the lavender and vanilla smell seemed very strong to me. The only thing I didn’t like much is how balsamic it can become; it fades after about an hour. I like it, but I don’t think it’s a particularly special perfume; I don’t think I’d buy it again.

  • I love it! I’ll be using it a lot this autumn and winter; it gives warmth and comfort. The opening is a bit heavy but of low intensity, with excellent longevity and sillage; just don’t abuse the sprays or you’ll go overboard. Obviously it has the DNA of the Mon EDP, but this one is sweeter and more vanilla-forward; I always want it in my collection.

  • I love it! It’s the most elegant and refined vanilla I’ve tried in perfumery. Ideal for autumn and winter. These are the fragrances that make you feel wrapped up and sophisticated… it’s sweet in the perfect spot. If I ever get married in the evening, this will be my fragrance… if it’s during the day, I’ll opt for Narciso Rodriguez for Her EDP.

  • It has a strong presence: it starts boldly, as the best reviews say, and later evolves into a beautiful scent where that typical Guerlain ‘guerlinade’ shines. On my skin, the patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla stand out the most, with a very soft lavender. Ideal for going out with friends or in the evening. Everyone will like it and it’s perfect for a confident, romantic woman. It doesn’t seem the same as the original Mon Guerlain, which is sweeter and more ethereal; on my skin, this one has the patchouli perfected. It doesn’t feel dated; it’s very current and contemporary. I love it: good longevity and very elegant.

Excellent work by Thierry Wasser and D. Jelk with quality components, mixed just right to achieve this Guerlain proposal: it pleases, lasts, projects, is seductive and elegant. I only tested it on female skin and on mine, smelling the same. It has a slightly aggressive opening that is uncomfortable, but after 5 minutes it shows its true face. Vanilla predominates almost always, of better quality than in other perfumes (e.g. Libre by YSL), combined with tonka bean and lavender. It’s a moderate and elegant sweetness. I struggle to perceive the iris, but I do smell the benzoin and licorice, which enhance it. It resembles the EDP, perhaps with less performance. They would classify it as a woody amber, but I note oriental traits and little wood; the sandalwood is soft. There are discrepancies in the categories, but the experts know. Ideal for informal outings in temperate/cold climates, or for executive women who want to turn heads. Worth trying. I’ve loved it, I really like smelling a woman’s skin with this. 8.5/10. Warm regards.

They classify it as woody amber, but I detect more oriental traits and little wood; a touch of soft sandalwood doesn’t make it woody. There are discrepancies between what I perceive and the classifications, but the experts are them. Ideal for informal outings in temperate/cold weather, or for executive women who want to turn heads. Worth trying and giving it more opportunities. I’ve loved it, I really like smelling a woman’s skin with this. 8.5/10. Warm regards.

Reading the reviews, I’m surprised they say this Intense has more lavender, when it’s the original that keeps that note clear. The Intense ‘intensifies’ the known notes (lavender, vanilla, coumarin) and adds vanilla and patchouli. To my nose, it’s much more vanilla. The opening has a flash of potent, aromatic and robust lavender (reminds me of Lavandes Trianon), but it sweetens quickly with vanilla, coumarin and benzoin. Guerlain’s vanilla predominates: balsamic, velvety and earthy due to the patchouli. It’s more robust than the original, which is floral and powdery for the day. The Intense weighs more, it’s nocturnal and strong. I use it in May without fear and find it fantastic. Perhaps the only downside is that it doesn’t last as long: it’s stronger but fades quickly. It lasts 6 or 7 hours. The choice depends on whether you prefer lavender or vanilla. If you don’t fancy the lavender, the Intense is your option. If you love it as much as I do, don’t stray from the original, which remains the best version.

  • I confess that, being in love with the original EDP, I resisted another flanker. How little originality, don’t you think? Same scent with a dash of vanilla. A bit of a bore. But I was curious. The first time I thought, ‘buaah, same perfume with a vanilla kick’. I went home. Another day, with a friend, I tried it again. This time I was more receptive. On my wrist, while talking and moving my hands, the scent became rich, and I thought, ‘wow, this is my friend the Intense’. I noticed lavender at full throttle in the opening, but above all elegant and powerful vanilla, nothing overwhelming, better than the previous time. I was surprised by how it settled on my skin; the longevity is like the original, perhaps a tiny bit more. I love the original: elegant, versatile, with marked bergamot and lavender and a balanced vanilla that makes it fresh and sweet. But this flanker is incredibly sexy. It’s a bomb in projection, standing out with class. I’ve loved it. Perhaps I’ll use the original for any season and the Intense in fresh weather or at night, though both are perfect if you fancy it. Will I stick with the original? Yes, forever. Would I buy the Intense? Of course, it’s different and seductive. I want both. Pure craving.

  • Although I was in love with the original EDP, I was resistant to a flanker. They release perfumes and then ‘intense’ versions with little originality. A bit of a rip-off. But I was curious and tried it. At first, I thought it was the same perfume with more vanilla, so I went home. Another day with a friend, I tried it again and was more receptive. While talking, a rich scent came to me: this is my friend, the Intense! I could feel the lavender at full blast at the start (more than in the original), but above all that elegant and potent vanilla, pleasant and not overwhelming. I was surprised by how it settled on my skin. The longevity is similar, perhaps a tiny bit more. I love the original, elegant and versatile, with marked bergamot and lavender and balanced vanilla, fresh and sweet. But this Intense is incredibly sexy. It’s a bomb in terms of projection, standing out with class. I’ve loved it. Perhaps the original is for any season, and the Intense more for fresh or night due to its powerful opening. Both are brilliant. I’d stick with the original forever, but I’d buy the Intense because it’s different and seductive. I want both! Living in anticipation.

  • Dama Incognita

It’s one of my favourite fragrances. I chose the Intense over the normal one because in the latter the vanilla stands out more (and Guerlain’s vanilla is one of the best). The performance on my skin is a perfect combination of vanilla with flowers, coumarin, and sandalwood, leaving the lavender faint in the background. I like that as it dries down it leaves a powdery trail with all those ingredients alternating. I’m fascinated by it, besides having great projection and longevity.

  • Dama Incognita

It’s one of my favourites. I chose the Intense over the regular one because here the vanilla stands out more, and Guerlain’s vanilla is among the best. The flowers, coumarin and sandalwood combine brilliantly, leaving the lavender subtle in the background. I’m fascinated by how it dries down to leave a powdery trail with everything alternating. It has great projection and longevity.

  • I confess I love lavender, so you know where I’m going with this. Ideal for cooler climates. It has a friendly vanilla that blends perfectly with the lavender. It might seem masculine, but the rose and iris give it a feminine and elegant touch.

  • Leticia Vazquez

On my skin, it smells like baby powder with a touch of lavender and vanilla. It has great longevity, but I couldn’t tolerate the scent.

  • I bought it today, I was dying for it. Guerlain is a guarantee of quality and longevity. My mum has the EDP and we both love it, just like my dad, who leaves the room permeated with it. I compared the EDP and the Intense: the EDP is more floral, fresh and cheerful, ideal for the day. The Intense has fewer flowers and more vanilla, more gourmand and sweet for special occasions, though I’ll use it daily. I love how it dries down to a powdery and vanilla scent but stays fresh thanks to the lavender. It’s soft, refined, elegant and long-lasting. A 10/10! UPDATE: It’s now one of my favourites, TOP 3, I LOVE it. It’s pure elegance, sophisticated. It could be my wedding perfume. I want it always.

  • I bought it blind and prefer the original above all. I want to like it, trying to understand that ‘elegance’ and exquisite vanilla they speak of, but to my nose, it smells like baby powder mixed with an old lady’s perfume. I’m sorry, it’s nauseating.

  • BeatrizBlackwood

What a madness! On my skin, it’s all about the vanilla and sandalwood. At first, the strong lavender makes it sound masculine, but then the vanilla and resinous notes explode. It’s super sexy and I’ve received many compliments.

  • It’s brilliant, but be warned: if you don’t fancy lavender, it might smell like fish to you. I absolutely adore that sweetness, but it’s a very personal taste. Best to try it before splashing out blindly, unless you’re a lavender and sweet-ness fan.

  • I love it especially in winter; it’s a long-lasting aroma that doesn’t become cloying despite being sweet; the woody notes feel perfect; I love it

  • I bought it eagerly due to the good reviews and after testing it in store. With its notes of vanilla, lavender, and sandalwood; I intuited it was for me; however, I can’t quite wear it. First, it has a very astringent opening; it makes my nose itch a bit and causes me to sneeze; after a few minutes, the vanilla starts to be felt, but not a sugary vanilla, not one of those gourmands I love, but a more earthy vanilla. It also gives me the impression of a formal and elegant lady’s scent. Undoubtedly, it’s a fragrance for special occasions, whether day or night. Lastly, the worst part is that on my dry skin it dries down very softly; barely a faint lavender-vanilla scent is felt in a very subtle way. I’ll give it more opportunities and more sprays to see if I can achieve the good longevity and trail I see in several reviews.

  • If I had to give it a note, I’d say 7/10. It smells of lavender, vanilla, and patchouli to the max, which I love; it feels like a feminine fragrance (not unisex) despite the lavender, it smells clean, elegant, and feminine. What I didn’t like was the longevity and how it fades; at the start it has a brutal trail and the scent is delicious, but as the day goes on I think it lasts a maximum of 3 hours and then you can only smell it if you’re right up close, plus the aroma degrades as if it were a fabulous lavender-vanilla mix 😭 I was very excited but I’m not sure if it’s worth the price; I’ll keep using it.

  • To be honest, I’m surprised by the good note this perfume has. In my case, it was a fiasco: it opens with a brutal patchouli-lavender and an excessively sweet vanilla. That mix gave me nausea after 30 minutes. It’s ‘strong’ but at the same time doesn’t last at all; by 3 hours there was no trace left. (Luckily) I give it a 3/10.

  • It’s magical 💗✨ Nowadays I prefer it to the regular EDP; I think it’s an improved and much more balanced version. The lavender isn’t as invasive as in the original (in my bottle of Mon Macerado I still feel it very strong). When I finish this one, the Intense will definitely be forever 🙌✨ (I remember that when I was 6 or 7 years old I had a doll called Pocaspecas and its hair smelled like Mon Guerlain… does anyone remember this? xD What elegance from France)

  • I didn’t like it; a lavender scent is noticeable, pfff, lavender just turns me off. Ruled out from my list.

  • Mon Guerlain, both the EDP and the Intense, are perfumes you have to learn to love (at least in my case). When I first became interested in perfumes, I bought decants of both without considering my untrained nose, and my first impressions were: ‘Are these the perfumes everyone loves so much?’ The lavender was too strong, I didn’t find it feminine, and it didn’t last. If you’ve ever had bad first impressions of a perfume, I recommend giving it time without prejudice. In my case, although it didn’t convince me at the start, I kept using them, spacing out the days, letting the decants air out, and testing them day and night, in heat and cold, over 3 or 4 months to see if my impressions were real. It turned out they weren’t, and I bought the Intense, thinking I couldn’t let this gem slip away. The Intense has a vanilla-lavender blend, sweet, pretty, and feminine (don’t expect a cloying sweetness; it’s a moderate sweetness that adds femininity). When I wear it, I feel elegant, secure, and powerful. I use it at meetings to convey that, or when my mood calls for an extra boost of security, or simply because I want to smell it; it’s very lovely. Technically: the Intense has high to moderate projection and lasts 7 hours or more; I see it as suitable for any season if you take care with the sprays, perhaps only at night in summer. Testing decants of both, I stuck with the Intense due to the longevity (7 hrs+ vs 3-4 hrs for the EDP). The Intense, being sweeter, I liked more, although lately I notice the EDP has a very lovely and different dry down. Plus: my husband always says ‘Wooow, what a beautiful perfume’ whenever I wear it. I recommend giving all perfumes time and patience to see how they evolve over the months; you can get very lovely surprises. If you still don’t like it after giving it time, at least you know you gave it a chance to appreciate it and you’ve improved your sense of smell.

  • Aishalulunim

I tested it on a blotter and out of the whole Mon Guerlain range, it was the one that came closest to my style. But when I tried it on my skin, it was a disappointment 😞. It’s potent and has a strong trail, but that’s not the problem. On my skin, it becomes very sweet with the vanilla becoming the protagonist from the very first moment. As it dries down, the woody notes darken the composition and the result feels too old-fashioned to me; I don’t feel identified with it and it slightly overwhelms me. What a pity because I had heard wonderful things, but clearly it’s not for me for now.

  • What a beautiful perfume! It’s super feminine, delicate, and elegant, with a mysterious yet clean and sweet touch. Although it has common notes, it smells like something unique I’ve never encountered before. At first, I thought I wouldn’t like it, as I’m not a lavender fan and usually avoid perfumes with it. However, in this Intense version, the vanilla stands out more than in the regular one, and yet the lavender is still noticeable; it’s one of the best I’ve tried and it completely changed my opinion of the note. The longevity is incredible: I wore it at 6 PM to go to university and the next day at 9 AM it was still detectable on my skin (though up close), and the trail was noticeable from miles away. It brings me a lot of peace and satisfaction while walking. It’s one of my best purchases of the year and I’ll always recommend it. I see it as versatile for university or work, going out with friends day or night, or a romantic date. It gives vibes of a woman between 25 and 40 years old, attractive, clean, and bold (in a good way), with a sweet personality but no complexes. Imagine a lavender field at sunset, a vanilla ice cream in hand, and a freshly washed dress with vintage detergent.

  • I love it because it has projection and that vanilla is addictive; the lavender keeps it fresh and the rose isn’t the main character, somehow reminding me of Angel Muse without knowing why. It’s a fresh yet imposing and indescribable trail. I don’t see it as old-fashioned, but rather sensual, ideal for night outings where you want to stand out. Note: it’s not a super potent perfume, it’s very pleasant and lasts about 6 hours on the skin and a bit longer on clothes.
