I bought a decant and started testing it at home. At first it seemed interesting classic and modern totally different from other marine scents like Acqua Di Gio Profondo. On the opening I noticed seaweed and leather on a salty base; as it dried woods and metal took centre stage with a cold underlying sensation. Then it started to bother me; I could no longer stand so much personality and power. I attributed it to the fact that it is not a scent I feel comfortable wearing at home. The next day I tried it for work and felt the same discomfort worried about upsetting my colleagues. Surprise: I received no negative comments; in fact they told me they liked it and that it was not strong. I do not think I will buy the bottle as it is a huge investment for a scent with which I do not feel comfortable but it is extremely interesting and surprising. The most appropriate description would be a harbour with wooden ships in a salty sea on a grey and cloudy day. If you find it interesting go for it although it is mandatory to test it first. Occasions? Any except extreme cold although I see it as more appropriate with formal attire.

  • I received a sample by post. I do not know if anyone has been near a mussel boat in Galicia. It smells exactly like that like a boat. Like the sea but for real. Like seaweed mixed with salt and tar (the oud note) used to protect the wooden structure of the boat. I suppose it is not for everyone; for me it transports me back to my childhood.

  • Incredible experience. I tried it in a Spanish department store; at first it overwhelmed me with a strange unidentifiable scent. As hours passed it evolved on my skin revealing marine notes seaweed and oud. By three hours it had become one of my favourites an absolute showstopper. The longevity is immense lasting over 15 hours on the skin with a projection of around 4 feet.

Not for blind buying. Broadly speaking it resembles a resinous slightly sweet oud. Please forgive me I am not one for mussels or the sea; at most I detect some rust or metal. If you push me perhaps a touch of fir or salt (with a lot of imagination). It lasts as long as my mother-in-law during Christmas and in several tests it has cloyed me (not many achieve that). The trail is very respectful and subtle nothing like Ombre Leather. Although personally we are not compatible I appreciate the risks and consistent quality of Tom Ford. A small dirty note to round off the presence of a ‘flag bearer’ but please try it before buying!

  • Zeón_liv

As others have mentioned this is not suitable for blind buying; it is a unique combination. Based on the notes I imagined something more marine like French Riviera or Megamare but on my skin it lacks charm. It is overwhelming and special highlighting the oud which I perceive as leather mixed with oxidised metal. It is not bad simply not to my taste. If you want to smell different unique and refined give it a try for its excellent longevity and projection although it feels versatile. However if you are looking for a fresh marine scent like those of the past you will not find it here.

  • My head is blown! The first contact left me cold, shocked me, I felt rejection… but after several sprays it has conquered me. It’s a marvel. It behaves differently depending on the person and the skin. Performance is excellent; a touch at 2 pm and now it’s midnight and it’s still there. It’s a walk through a maritime port of wood submerged in the sea. Another great creation by Tom.

  • carloslainezd

Fresh, marine, woody, masculine, and classy. It’s different from any other marine. Reminds me slightly of the sensation Bvlgari Aqva gives me.

  • Oud Minerale isn’t a challenging marine like Megamare. It’s peculiar but carries Tom Ford’s elegant stamp from start to finish. Its raw side isn’t wild; it’s port-like: ships, rusted hulls, salt on engines… just inspiration, nothing jarring. The opening is sharp and salty, might wrinkle some brows, but it fades quickly to give way to woods and that mineral touch. It’s elegant and versatile; goes with bermudas or jeans. Singular aroma, medium longevity, medium projection, versatile, good presentation, regular value for money. Formal for work, unisex, ideal for summer evening dates. Don’t buy blindly.

  • Smells old-school, quirky but not unpleasant. It’s not challenging, just peculiar. I detect woody, marine, metallic, and spicy notes. It’s elegant yet informal; suits both a suit and casual wear. It’s that kind of friendly Oud from Oud Wood (even though I hate that fragrance). Oud Minerale is niche but dull.

  • Curious. I feared my nose would amplify the salt note as it often does, but the marine aspect is tempered, balanced with a pleasant Oud. It adds a dark, resinous woody touch. It’s innovative: an aquatic/marine perfume with a twist and more sophistication. It dresses well. Performance is decent but not standout, and the price is high as usual. Worth a sniff.

  • Glorfindeil

This is a scent you won’t smell anywhere near similar to anyone else. It evokes driftwood for me, aged and very salty wood. It blew my mind, and I bought it immediately. In no time, it’s become one of my favourites. Being such a particular fragrance, it carries the seal of elegance and sophistication that Tom Ford is known for. As for performance, I don’t have particularly good skin, and with just two sprays, my wife told me at 12 hours that she could still smell me perfectly. In my case, it behaves like a beast. Occasions for use: being such a distinctive scent, it’s versatile; it has enough weight for cold seasons, but the salty marine notes make it suitable for summer (unless it’s very hot). I give it a 10/10.

  • Stones, salt, and pepper. I want to smell like this all the time… what a shame to be poor xD. The imagery is of visiting a pebble beach and taking a good handful in a cloth bag. Back home, once dry, they retain that saltiness and that lingering marine sensation that has permeated the fabric. It’s fantastic. Its longevity is very good, and I notice it quite a bit; it feels quite unisex.

  • Oud Minérale is a fragrance that surprises from the very first application. What strikes me most is its unmistakable quality, yet it’s hard to define exactly what it smells like. This mystery creates uncertainty: you know it smells good, but you can’t describe it precisely, which is odd because you’re not quite sure what you’re smelling. To me, it feels like a summer walk along the seafront in a freshly ironed shirt. It combines freshness, cleanliness, and a marine touch that intertwine intriguingly. It doesn’t fit into a specific category; it’s a sensory experience. It remains peculiar—imagine someone telling you, ‘Hey, you smell like a freshly ironed shirt by the port of Santorini.’ It’s ideal for those seeking something beyond the conventional, projecting mystery and sophistication without falling into the typical. Oud Minérale is for the non-conformists, those who enjoy the luxury of the indefinable.

I detect lots of minerals with realistic aquatic notes. It’s strange but not unpleasant; in fact, it’s addictive to sniff. It’s a disorienting scent. Wearing it on my hand, the trail that reaches my nose is incredibly rich. The oud smells woody, like old wooden boats invaded by seawater. Edit: I keep returning to the perfumery to smell and study it because it’s so addictive. I’ll definitely be buying it soon when summer starts to wear it all season. It smells quite strong in the air, very mineral and metallic—I love it.

  • Pabloquinte

Totally elegant marine fragrance; I’m genuinely surprised by how well this marine-oud blend works. I can’t find a close match anywhere. My only wish is that it lasts longer and has a stronger trail. Truly impressed. Update: I recently picked up the 100ml bottle and it lasts for days on clothes—I’m absolutely fascinated.

  • But now, only love can bring me down. In some way, love must bring me down. I became a fan of the tambourine player. Not me, not me. -The Chameleons. Tom Ford Oud Minérale 2023 has returned to stay. The first time I encountered it in 2017, it blew my mind; its unconventional combination fell in love with me from the very first moment: sea algae, styrax and pepper create a highly addictive scene. Later, it was withdrawn from the market and attempted to be relaunched under the Resort collection, which was a disaster, conveying an unpleasant plastic and artificial sensation. Fortunately, its 2023 renewal arrived with the bottle included, respecting its original formula a little more. We appreciate the opening with its characteristic salinity mixed with oily touches, giving way to very particular pepper and woody notes (a very westernised oud), before finally settling on the skin with that dry salty sensation in the sun. TF OM is not for everyone; I am not saying this pejoratively; it is for very particular and defined tastes. If you have the luck, like me, that it fits your personality, congratulations, you have found your signature! It has suffered a bit in longevity with each reformulation, but it still stands tall, fighting for 5+ hours. Without a doubt, it is worth knowing, whether you like it or not. In my case, I am very grateful that it returned to the market at a much more comfortable price than its original Private Line version (which I gladly paid when I found a bottle in the hands of someone who didn’t like it). Within my collection, it is the only one I am afraid they will discontinue again; my absurd reason for buying and accumulating bottles. And if it happens in the end, I will live happily knowing I experienced heaven for a couple of hours.

I just picked up Oud Minerale at the beach and am sharing my impressions. In the end, this is subjective, but I sense a smell of the sea (salt), something green (algae) and woody (oud). It is a combination that reads as unattractive but is quite the opposite. The scent is addictive; you spray it on your arm and have the tic of smelling it constantly. It is unique; I haven’t heard anything like it, and neither has the people around you. I saw a review on YouTube saying it was unique but that they saw no occasion to wear it; I disagree. It can be worn in beach heat, during the day, at night, for semi-formal occasions and even with a suit (though perhaps there are better options). Longevity is 8–10 hours on skin (surpassing Ombre Leather EDP), projecting well for 3–4 hours and lasting on clothes until the next day. It is not a blind buy if you are new to perfumery, but if you already have an all-occasion perfume, I recommend it too much as an essential. I used it to test it at home; soon I will wear it out and comment from the perspective of receiving compliments.

This fragrance is somewhat unusual in the designer world, something Tom Ford achieves with almost all his releases. It has joined my small group of favourites. It has a strong, heavy scent; if you are looking for longevity and projection, you will be pleasantly surprised. The scent is not common and may not appeal to everyone; it is highly polarising, generating both terrible opinions and great praise. It opens with aquatic and salty notes, accompanied by very prominent sea algae and small traces of woods and oud. This initial marine sensation is usually not liked. Over time, the algae loses prominence, giving way to a woody character where the oud dominates, adding sophistication and making it more wearable, while maintaining the aquatic and salty base. It evokes stories, reminding me of a mineral cave on the shore between sea and desert, surrounded by algae dragged by the waves, with saline minerals, sand, and an old ship oxidised by salt. I recommend it to those who like aged marine scents and to collectors seeking to convey stories.

  • I don’t know if I’m going mad, but everyone who has tried it confirms what I say. I don’t want to be crude, but this fragrance smells of clean vagina. I hope I’m not offending anyone, but that is exactly what it is, especially at the opening when the mineral notes are very prominent.

  • How curious, it’s Costarela by Carner Barcelona with Oud. Both perfumes are by the same perfumer (Shyamala Maisondieu) and I imagine they’ve borrowed the formula from the first. It’s a magnificent perfume, very masculine and in my case extremely long-lasting, about 12-15 hours or so, with good projection throughout. This makes me think of buying it, it works very well on me. A fresh, mineral oud accord that blends with a salty sea-breeze-like scent, all without losing the woody character that makes it so masculine. One of the best from designer houses in recent years (not even that difficult to achieve). As I said, if anyone wants to try a more unisex or feminine version, try Costarela.

  • Excellent, stunning and long-lasting; it projects like a dream. Although I’ve never been a fan of aquatic fragrances, this one changed my mind. I almost made it my signature scent; I absolutely love it. No vaginal odour or negative stories here—it smells of class, of a very well-dressed and prestigious individual.

  • Honestly, I disliked this. Unfortunately, I’ve tried it several times, never to my liking. The quality isn’t felt, at least not as with other TFs, and the price is high. It says little: salt and some oud with musk and a touch of pink pepper. It’s quite linear, lasting a good seven or eight hours before starting to fade with the skin. It’s not my style, perhaps a bit bold, for fans of that type of aroma.

  • eliexerferrer

My favourite Tom Ford alongside Costa Azzurra: you either love or hate this aroma. Its dry-down is the best. Try it now, because salty notes don’t suit everyone, but it has earned me good compliments that I smell good and different, and from girls, not men xD. Something I like: there are some who seem to enjoy receiving compliments from men hehe. Another thing: those who say it resembles Encre Noir Sport, I truly don’t know where they get their noses, nothing alike. Maybe an Encre perfume but nothing like it. Anyway, a gem for collectors.

  • Jose Luis Tov

At first it seems like a challenge, but in reality it’s very pleasant within its category of clean, soapy fragrances; it brings a refreshing feel. I would have liked the amber dry-down to be more pronounced to add some sweetness, but overall it’s excellent. It won’t earn you compliments, but you’ll stand out for being distinctive. It demands good clothing to match the scent and create harmony. Good longevity and moderate projection.

  • Nothing to add that hasn’t already been said. A peculiar scent that may seem ‘ugly’ or ‘weird’ at first, but after a few minutes begins to reveal the quality and elegance it possesses. A very different scent from the conventional, but one that I absolutely adore. Good projection and longevity.

  • After trying it alongside other Tom Fords, there was something captivating about it. I finally decided to buy it and it was a brilliant success. It’s a very particular, different scent, with those aquatic and wet wood notes. It’s the kind of fragrance you need to test on skin to see its evolution. A wonder that I’d love to wear in spring with a linen shirt and an Aperol Spritz at sunset.

  • Ren Majestic

It doesn’t really smell of the sea as they say. The opening is soft, earthy, and damp oud, with reminiscences of a more refined Encrè Noir. It resembles a Zara perfume called WO/02 very closely. If you’re looking for salt and sea, try Megamare; this is more mineral with a touch of oud.

  • I went out of curiosity and didn’t buy it, but over time I matured and returned to try it until I bought the large bottle. It smells of an old port, corrosion, and an expensive perfume worn by a conceited person. It’s not a summer blue or anything green; it plays in its own league. It’s niche, experimental, and versatile. It’s super masculine, asking for sun and temperatures above 15 degrees. I use it seven times and it lasts six to seven hours. It’s controversial: there are compliments and negative comments. You need personal security to wear it. It’s an undisputed masterpiece if you know what you’re buying.

  • bananalola

As a woman, I adore it. My circle can’t stand it, but it’s incredible. At first, it’s strong and dark, but with heat and humidity, unique marine notes emerge. The oud is soft and clings to the skin all day. The next day, it lingers on clothes and the pillow. Elegant and playful, only for those who know how to choose themselves.

  • I’m a Tom Ford fan, but this Oud Minérale is the most unpleasant. It smells of oxidised iron, as if you’d wiped your trousers and smelled them. As it dries, it smells of sickly old age, not complexity. I’d reject such a gift. Tom Ford has better things; this isn’t one of them.

  • It’s my third Tom Ford and it’s not for everyone. The opening blends marine notes with old leather, and as it dries, a fine oud appears that gives it character. It lasts about eight hours with a light but recognisable trail. The Nika.

  • It’s my favourite Tom Ford. On my skin, it highlights that musk base alongside the aquatic wood. It’s pure niche, with good longevity and trail. It looks distinguished and serious, not for everyone, and don’t buy blindly. Unisex, though with more masculine character.

  • I’ve tried hundreds of perfumes and never thought it would happen to me, but this gave me a gag reflex. Literally horrific.

  • I’ve always avoided Tom Ford for straying from the commercial mould, but this left me speechless. Applied under the arm, the trail was impactful. Don’t buy blindly; it demands character and invites you to assert yourself. A marvel that commands respect.

  • It smells like Betadine mixed with clean oud and a touch of rose as it dries. A very interesting and different combination.

  • Rafaheco13

Smells like a docked boat: aged woods, clean metal, and a salty hint of seaweed. It’s dark yet fresh, not sweet. It conveys quiet sophistication and security; perfect for semi-formal or formal events if you want to stand out without shouting. Not for everyone, but it leaves an intriguing trail.
