Descripción

Polo Blue Gold Blend by Ralph Lauren is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2019, this olfactory composition was created by perfumer Carlos Benaïm. The top notes unfold with ginger, citron, lime, grapefruit, pepper, and cardamom; the heart reveals melon, sage, lavender, and green apple; while the base notes settle with incense, amber, patchouli, and vetiver.

  • Sounds synthetic and generic. The opening is like the original, but once it dries down, it smells of amber. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t stand out; it’s just another one in the crowd.

  • It doesn’t stray far from the previous one, but it has its own charm. I’ll discuss its pros and cons later, but for now, I absolutely love this perfume.

  • What a gem! Blend and Polo Blue EDP are the kings of the line. I was blown away by the scent, an exquisite blend of sage and smoked melon thanks to the incense. Simply wonderful!

  • It is the Polo Blue EDP with a spicy touch and a bit fresher. While the EDP is ideal for intense heat and formal situations, this Gold Blend is not so much for super-formal occasions, as I notice it is even fresher. It is for intense heat. The only downside is that it can be confused with the scent of a window cleaner. Apart from that, a very good fragrance with good performance like the common EDP.

  • It does not reach the quality of the great designer brands; it is a clothing store perfume with a better performance standard, but not great in any way. I discarded it: generic and boring.

  • It doesn’t reach the quality of the big designer brands. It’s a clothing store perfume with decent performance, but it never stands out. I discarded it: it’s generic and boring.

  • What stands out is the incense; I liked it and it made me buy it, but it disappears in three steps. Then it smells good, but nothing remarkable. I did not wait to see how it developed (a novice mistake). I bought it in Liverpool for 150 dollars. Very suitable for a quick greeting and leaving immediately. Now I have it for a few occasional sniffs without spraying.

  • On paper it seems quite generic and does not stand out. On skin, especially how it floats in the air, it smells very good. The problem is that it does not project much or for long. I recommend it for the scent, but not for the poor longevity.

Polo Blue Gold Blend is aromatic and woody, maintaining the line’s DNA. The opening is identical to the EDP: fresh, fruity, and green, with a hint of incense that links it to Acqua di Gio Profumo (I always notice that connection). For those who know the family, no further explanation is needed. I liked it more than Deep Blue, perhaps because it’s more woody. Longevity is similar to the EDP, around 6 or 7 hours (though the EDP lasted less last time). It’s a bit more formal than Deep Blue, yet remains versatile and pleasant. If I had to choose one, I’d think between this and the original EDT.

  • Polo Blue Gold Blend is an aromatic and woody fragrance that maintains the DNA of the Polo Blue line. The opening is similar to the EDP: fresh, fruity with green touches, adding the incense that brings it closer to Acqua di Gio Profumo. No need to describe further for those who know the family. I liked it more than the Deep Blue, perhaps because it is a bit more woody, although the performance is similar to the EDP, lasting a maximum of six or seven hours. Its use is a bit more formal than the Deep Blue, but it remains versatile and pleasant. If I have to choose, I would think between this and the original EDT.

  • The melon is quite noticeable; it is not as sticky as it usually is, but it is sweet; it leans more towards summery and aquatic memories. The incense and ginger that are often mentioned, I would say are there to provide contrast to the melon and balance it, but I do not feel them distinctly, perhaps something very slightly smoky. Some acidic citrus nuances and herbal aromatics, all secondary to the melon. Unlike many, it smells to me with a certain confidence. It seems to perform well but does not amaze me. Let’s say it is not bad.

  • A citrus fragrance with sweet touches. At first, you detect ginger, pepper, and lemon, then it evolves and the sweet notes like melon and green apple appear. I love it; it has that Polo Blue EDP DNA but sweeter, and the dry-down fascinates me. It lasts about five hours, after which it clings to the skin without being annoying. If they made longer-lasting perfumes, it would be my favourite forever, but the longevity and excessive price take points off.

  • A citrus fragrance with sweet touches. At first, there are strong notes of ginger, pepper, and lemon, then it evolves and the sweet notes appear: melon and green apple. I like it very much; it has that Polo Blue EDP DNA but is sweeter, and I love the dry down. You should try it. It lasts about 5 hours; afterwards, it sits close to the skin, requiring you to bring your nose near, but not projecting at a distance. If this brand made more long-lasting perfumes, it would always be my favourite, but the longevity and excessive price leave much to be desired.

Without a doubt my favourite from the Polo Blue line: fresh and delicious. What a pity you can’t find it in stores anymore. I would buy a couple of bottles to keep a stock. Longevity and projection are good; not a beast, but it earns plenty of compliments.

  • Isaac Blanco

I regret throwing it away; it is brutal. It may be on par with, or even surpass, Acqua di Gio Profumo; it is intoxicating in the best sense of the word.

  • It is my crown jewel: a touch of incense dancing with melon and sage, absolutely delicious for spring and summer. The longevity is more than good, but the sad reality is that it is no longer available.
