  Poseidon The Black is rich, sweet, and has a spicy kick; if it were music, it would be ‘youthful pop rock’ with more pop than rock, like Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway or Avril Lavigne’s early albums. It’s feminine but with a dark edge; over-applying it can be overwhelming. The top notes highlight rose and pepper, with hints of jasmine and citrus, all built on a persistent vanilla base. On the skin, it leaves an intoxicating trail of red berries, especially black cherries with sugar and fermented pepper, which is unusual as they aren’t listed in the notes. It’s said to be a dupe for Paco Rabanne’s Black XS L’Extrême for Her; I haven’t tried it, but given the shared ingredients, there must be some truth to it. The trail is potent for the first two or three hours before settling close to the skin; it lasts about five hours. I highly recommend it for its sweet, warm scent, suits all ages, and is perfect for evening wear all year round, except in summer or when it’s very hot.

  Neither the scent nor the longevity are bad. I suppose it’s already discontinued, yet it’s still available. It’s the closest thing I’ve found to my beloved Lady Rebel Rock Deluxe by Mango, which I managed to pick up at a good price. Apparently, this style isn’t as popular anymore, and one has to admit, it does sound a bit dated.
