  I’m confirming again that Instituto Español fragrances are top-tier. Air de Sevilla Azul Fresh starts very citrusy and lemony, perhaps which is why the hyacinth lingers slightly in the background, but the beauty is that it doesn’t disappear; it blends seamlessly into the base. The opening is super fresh and refreshing (living up to its name to the letter), but it soon evolves into something almost ethereal. It’s a union of a well-noted cedar that supports a floral group without edges, featuring subtle, blurred borders that smell wonderful. That freshness transforms into cleanliness, tranquility, and well-being—a total comfort. I see it as a feminine fragrance, ideal for young women realising their world is changing towards something unknown but exciting. It’s a very good choice as a first cologne for spring or summer. The longevity and projection are modest but astonishing for a cologne. It reminds me of that childhood era when girls my age smelled so good and one wondered why. I sensed they knew things I didn’t, and that was as intriguing as they themselves. I don’t know if that innocence still exists today, with all the internet and mobiles, but I sincerely hope it does.

  I’ve picked up another bottle of Air de Sevilla and tested it on my wrist; it’s a beast. It bears a striking resemblance to Light Blue—super fresh with lemon notes and that very subtle hyacinth. It’s a fragrance that wears well; people smell it and ask what it is. Simple and reliable, the classic choice.
