Far Away by Avon is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1994, this composition was created by René Morgenthaler and Xavier Renard. The top notes unfold with coconut, ylang-ylang, peach, karoo karandé flower, and orange; the heart reveals jasmine, gardenia, violet, freesia, osmanthus, and rose; while the base notes settle on vanilla, sandalwood, amber, and musk.

  • I think it’s splendid! I bought it for my mother and she said it brought back memories. It smells balanced, neither too sweet nor sharp like other jasmines. It’s a good formula between flowers, vanilla, and coconut. It smells incredibly well and I love smelling it on her. Without doubt, Avon has small jewels in its catalogue that smell amazing and don’t have to be expensive.

  • The perfume with the greatest trail and longevity in the entire universe and I hate it 😫😫😫. To me, it’s a very strong talc with vanilla, but extremely potent. It has an indescribable smell, potent to the tenth power.

  • The opening hits me like a terrible slap and gives me a headache, but after drying down (about 20 minutes) I start to like it. Nice white flowers emerge; I never detect the vanilla. It lasts a long time on the skin. I agree it smells like an older woman; sometimes I mix it with a vanilla body mist to soften it. In the end, after 30 minutes, I detect very potent neroli, even though that note isn’t declared, or perhaps I’m confused. Conclusion: I wouldn’t buy it again, although it’s not a bad fragrance.

I had the deodorant in this fragrance. I love spicy and persistent scents. The bottle is a work of art. It’s not expensive and I’ll be buying it soon. Ideal for autumn and winter.

  • I used it long ago and it still evokes memories today. Exotic and unmistakable, warm, ideal for winter. Excellent longevity, the epitome of oriental, a triumph for Avon.

A commercial success, very popular in my country. It smells of talc, spices, and is conservative, nice and very convenient for the office given the price. Although I get bored of it quickly, don’t wear it every day.

I hate this perfume. On my skin, the flowers smell foul, like they’re rusted. It’s too oriental and gives me a headache. It’s exotic, but not for me. It requires a lot of personality and might be tiring if worn daily. If you enjoy intense oriental and spicy fragrances, give it a try. It’s a pity my skin rejects it, but I’ll try the cologne, which is cheap here in Chile; it has something that attracts me.

  • I love this scent! I’ve always adored it, but beware: it’s intense. If you like it, buy the cologne; it’s cheap and lasts longer than many mid-range EDTs. The cologne smells of talc, vanilla, and spices, sweet but less overwhelming, ideal for everyday wear. Be careful with sprays; overdoing it leads to nausea. With moderation and in cool weather, it’s exquisite. It’s not a fragrance for teenagers or older women; it’s for those who wear it with confidence. Everyone should use what they like without prejudice. I discovered it at 25 in an office and fell in love. Today, at 32, I own the cologne and plan to buy the perfume again. It’s perfect: feminine, potent, and sweet. Less is more to avoid being intrusive. It’s controversial, it doesn’t leave people indifferent, it’s exotic and bold. I’m fascinated by it. Test it on skin, not on paper; it smells different. A sweet beauty for those who love the intense and exotic.

  • A perfect balance between apricot, jasmine, vanilla, and amber. It has a vintage air without being outdated or annoying. It’s classic yet very current. Avon has jewels, and this is one of the best.

I’ve been wearing this perfume for years and will keep buying it. Its trail is a bomb; you can smell it from afar. Once it dries down, the tropical notes fade to let the sandalwood, amber, musk, and bitter almond shine through, leaving a warm, powdery scent that I adore. The ylang-ylang and peach are strong at first but disappear quickly. It’s a characterful fragrance, perhaps too intense for younger people due to that mature musk, but it’s a matter of taste. Considering the price, its longevity and projection are incredible, comparable to Dior Addict.

  • Avon Far Away. This review is about my bottle which is eight years old, so I have not tried the current version. Nor is it confirmed that it has been reformulated much; the current version looks like it will remain a beast. Peach is the king in the opening, a powdery peach that at first reminded me a lot of Lancôme’s Tresor, although that memory fades quickly. The opening also goes very high on coconut and ylang-ylang, giving it that characteristic beach bronzer aroma. One might think it would stay there, but with time it changes to become a scent where vanilla, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang predominate from start to finish. The last hours are a wonderful, extremely powdery, creamy, and dense as butter (8 hours after application). Longevity is very important; it does not drop below 12 solid hours, plus it has a minimum 6-hour projection and a brutal sillage that announces your arrival. Usable only in cold weather; in summer it could exterminate the staff. I find it more bearable in the afternoon and evening; I avoid it during the day because it can be too much. I do not see it as unisex at all; it seems very much a woman’s scent to me. I have used it a couple of times and have not received bad comments, but it is true that I do not feel comfortable with it. This fragrance is muuuuuch rich; the newly reformulated version tends to be a bit less heavy, more wearable. I smell the coconut more present, the vanilla, the peach, and the Ylang Ylang are the protagonists of this delicious fragrance. Sandalwood and rose give it that powdery touch and at the same time a bit sensual. It is a mature perfume, for those over 28, it has barbaric longevity and the same for its sillage. I will always buy it.

  • Budget perfumes do not necessarily have lower quality; quite the opposite. Often you can find small olfactory gems at phenomenal prices. When it comes to good perfumes suitable for every budget, I cannot fail to mention Avon Far Away, incredible in terms of value for money. What makes it special? It is a vintage classic with a complex profile: sweet vanilla illuminated by white flowers and an oriental woody base. There is nostalgia, but in the sense of a true classic that brings the distant close. The surprising part is the sillage and persistence, which are very high. It starts sweet but not too much, with a scent of jasmine and peach. Two or three sprays are enough; the sillage is impressive; I love feeling the power of a fragrance that flows and floods everything without hesitation, something I miss in so many perfumes that cost 15 times more. I would like a male version because this one is for gifting to a lady and eating it literally with kisses. The magic is not just power, but also balance; the powdery part is sweetened with vanilla and coconut without becoming sugary. Pleasant are the fresh notes of peach with the exotic ones of coconut, and the elegant base with amber and woody nuances. Girls, do not look at the name or the cost; approach this heavy floral fragrance with incredible sillage without prejudice; a beautiful blend of jasmine, vanilla, peach, and orange flower with a warmth that will leave you speechless. A hidden gem, a true gift at this price.

  • Cherrylicious

It has excellent quality and is super recognisable; I smelled it on so many people I did not buy it again, but perhaps now that I do not smell it so much I will, because it is the powdery type I like, even leaving a talc effect on the skin, and it has an impressive sillage.

  • I bought Avon Far Away in travel size and my first impression was so bad I was glad I did not buy the 50ml version; it has a powerful spicy opening, like cloves, but quickly turns powdery and floral, so delicious, smelling of expensive makeup and giant tulle powder. I was surprised by that transition into an elegant, vanilla, white gardenia and karú flower scent, powdery, classic, with the depth of ylang-ylang. It transported me to my childhood, to an elegant aunt’s perfume. I admit the base is very beautiful, although I do not smell the coconut. The first impression overwhelmed me, but two uses were enough to fall in love with it, and I love it more and more; I cannot stop smelling that beautiful dry-down. It is an misunderstood gem with longevity and sillage that any designer perfume would envy, and in terms of price, Avon is unbeatable for quality versus cost. If you can try it, give it a chance. Who will like it: lovers of classic and warm spicy perfumes.

  • Incredible and mysterious. At first I saw it as a classic, but researching its composition surprised me with the blend of notes and sparked my curiosity. I spent days trying to identify them unsuccessfully until I detected the predominant ones: sweet jasmine and ylang-ylang. It is penetrating, delicious, cheerful, strong, and characterful. The powdery base is soft. The surprises were the sillage and longevity: in the places where I was, people commented on a very noticeable perfume that lingered in the air, and 11 hours later, I never stopped smelling it. Finally, the coconut appeared. It is an excellent perfume, like the whole Far Away family which shares longevity and sillage. This blend of notes is a genius that I will continue to enjoy for its irreverence. I loved it.

  • I tried it before in deodorant and cologne form and found it exquisite. Now I am thinking of buying the perfume, although some say it smells like the classic Natura Kriska (which I do not like); I find it powdery but a very strong powder that makes little sense to my nose, quite the opposite of Far Away. I remember it with a rich aroma, wanting to smell it all day.

  • I am surprised I haven’t commented on Avon’s Far Away before; it has been my mother’s favourite for ages and I smell it regularly. Unlike others I adore on her but cannot wear myself, I wear this with great pleasure. It is a potent floral-fruit blend with a delicious powdery touch and lots of vanilla. It has a vintage air and, being opulent, I would not recommend it blindly. It is versatile for any season; although it might seem like a winter scent, in summer its combination of jasmine, ylang-ylang, peach, and coconut is delicious. I love wearing it on warm nights for its tropical notes; it is very sensual. It has notable sillage and lasts about 12 hours. It is essential among budget perfumes, elegant and characterful, and can be found cheaply on Notino. The 30ml format is comfortable for travel. Scent 8/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 8/10, Value for money 10/10, Versatility 8/10, Packaging 7/10. I would buy it again.

  • anita1980

It is an Avon classic that I have loved since I first tried it; I started wearing it at 25 and I believe it is a matter of taste, sometimes I really enjoy the classics. It has excellent longevity and is super powdery—I love it.

  • Rossadeena

I fell in love with this perfume despite some calling it outdated or powdery; to me, it is pure elegance and transports me back to childhood, reminding me of a new doll. I detect a very soft hint of pink pepper that balances perfectly with the vanilla and ylang-ylang. The longevity and sillage are brutal; with just two sprays, it lasts 6-7 hours.

  • I used to wear this fragrance and I’ve bought it for two reasons: I like it and it reminds me of her; I love it. It never goes out of fashion for my nose.

  • The perfume of my grandmother for all time; now she gives it to my mother and I want to die. Thanks to it, I don’t like very vanilla perfumes or those with coconut in their notes; too invasive.

  • Out of three Avon perfumes I’ve bought in my whole life, only one didn’t smell of an older lady. This purchase wasn’t even worth it. Another gift for my mother who likes perfumes like these.

  • I discovered this fragrance when I was young and agree with a comment I read that it doesn’t fade; it’s true it may be liked or not, like any perfume. Initially, it’s not super rich, not one of those that overwhelm you, but after a while it leaves an exquisite scent. I haven’t yet defined if it gives me a headache; I hope not because I’m very satisfied with this fragrance. I remembered it and it was exactly the smell I felt as a child. I like sweet perfumes and this exceeded my expectations. It reminds me of the Lou Lou talc (which I don’t like), but this has that sweet sparkle, at least that’s my perception.

  • Jassiel Peguero

I don’t smell any coconut at all. I’ve looked for it, but no, I don’t perceive it. I smell the flowers, the osmanthus, and the dry down. The opening has just the ylang-ylang with the peach. I’m fascinated by it. It makes me feel elegantly good.

  • This perfume and Cacharel’s Lou Lou were the cause of developing that taste for pleasantly vanilla and gourmand floral perfumes, a very warm scent. I remember it around 1995 smelling very different from everything used at the time; what caught most attention was the longevity. When I returned from school after about nine hours, it was still there. I think it made me want to buy it again.

  • A fragrance I knew as a girl in the 90s or early 2000s. I loved it when I smelled it on someone else. I bought it and was happy until one day, with a headache, I couldn’t tolerate it. From then on, I got that thing where smelling it overwhelms me. Quite sweet and a bit generic.

  • Although I’ve never been a fan of catalogue or famous perfumes and had none from Avon before, I confess that Far Away and Imari Corset left me breathless this time. I can’t let go; they are the ones I have and the first I bought as a collector since childhood. Far Away hypnotises me; it has incredible trail and longevity. It’s strong, so you shouldn’t over-spray as it’s quite a bomb. In its notes, I enjoy the fusion of ylang-ylang; I imagine it with Karoo flower because it’s very peculiar, something I’ve never heard of. I think it’s that flower with ylang-ylang, jasmine, and gardenia. When it dries down, it’s a potent gourmand vanilla with hints of sandalwood and amber. I don’t detect the rest; they are lost before the power of what I do smell. I just say that for those of us who like perfumes with coconut, ylang-ylang, vanilla, or edible scents like fine pastry, Far Away is entirely for you. A great perfume with quality, trail, projection, longevity, and power. I recommend it widely. I lived underestimating Avon until I got to know it; it’s like vintage jewellery that is no longer found.

  • Benjamin Alamo - 1389

There are hidden gems at Avon, and this is one of them. It was a gift, and it’s elegant, long-lasting, and leaves a lovely trail. The vanilla stands out most; it’s not gourmand at all, more like powdered vanilla with sandalwood. The violet makes its presence felt without being loud, helping the blend. It smells of makeup powder or lipstick, without iris. It’s beautiful for autumn evenings, addictive, and has good staying power. It lasts on clothes for over a week due to the quality. You must try it because, although sweet, it has that vintage accord. Highly recommended and it generates compliments.

  • Dani Mckill

I’m not sure if it’s just my nose, but it smells of patchouli to me, which is the least I like. What could it be? 😞

  • Lady Wallis

Good heavens… seeing this unlocked a memory. Far Away, my god… Has anyone in their life never owned it? I can’t believe it. Right, I’ll get to the point. It’s something I wouldn’t buy today or wear now, but with my 15-year-old self, yes. I confess I drenched myself in Far Away and overwhelmed everyone around me, yes, and I don’t regret it 🧐 Today it’s far from the scents I seek, but this proves we evolve and change in every stage. Hey! It was so cheap and lasted in a certain way; if you didn’t rub it well in the shower, it wouldn’t go away. What about its sillage? Shall we talk about its sillage? That knocks someone out with a sensitive sense of smell when opening the door. And look at me… Now I’m discreet, seeking delicate aromas. Before, soaked in Far Away, it was noticeable that I had arrived? Now, joking aside, it’s a high-performance, intense and sweet perfume… I loved it back then. It brings fun memories thinking about this bottle; I can smell it without having it 😜☺️

  • lizzystm1

Definitely it’s stately, sweet and powdery. It doesn’t have the good longevity that many people mention here; I don’t know if they reformulated it. I had high expectations from the comments, but it was a miss.

  • I bought it in ’94 and it was different from those of that era; everyone was using Escape by CK. It’s exquisite, long-lasting, potent but not overwhelming, addictive. An unforgettable and unmistakable fragrance. I never noticed the coconut; for me it’s powdery vanilla with violet, with the subtlety of amber and rose.

  • Maria Antonieta

One of my favourite perfumes in life. It has no comparison with any other and not everyone understands it. What I perceive most is the orange, and I love that. An orange bathed in musk and something unique I wouldn’t know how to describe. I also tried the Exotic (discontinued) and it’s delicious. Today I ordered the Far Away Glamour (the black bottle) because of the reviews and combinations, and I’ll wait to try it before commenting, but I know it won’t disappoint me being from this line.

  • It’s my grandmother’s perfume; it smells good because I associate it with her, and who doesn’t love their grandmother? But I feel that because of that, it’s for ladies, not very youthful… nor does it reach being very serious.

  • I’m not fascinated by it. I had it a long time ago; my mum used it a lot. Last week someone gifted me one and I decided to give it a chance. It’s strong, sometimes invasive, but well… wearing it takes me out of my olfactive comfort zone.

  • danzaesencia

I remember being a student and seeing Avon’s Far Away in the catalogue, but I didn’t order it because of the price. Finally, I ordered it in 2025, seduced by its olfactive journey and its creators, and I love it. It could be the mother of all Far Away scents of the 21st century. If you don’t like vintage, abstain; you need to be an olfactive adventurer to wear this floral gem with vanilla, talc, and a delicious sandalwood reminiscent of Cacharel’s LouLou, alongside ylang-ylang. This fragrance, a witness to stories, stays in my collection.

  • It’s a bouquet of sweet white flowers with a background of violet vanilla and talc. It seems elegant and lovely; the floral and sweet notes are balanced without being invasive. I think it’s suitable for any time of day or night.

  • Yesie Haned

I’m a man and I remember 2004 when my friend showed it to me. At 36, I’ve emptied a vintage 50ml bottle and I dare to use it because the scent is a 10 out of 10; nowadays fragrances don’t match its longevity and quality. It’s a bargain gem for everyone. The same goes for the vintage Gloria Vanderbilt, which I also wear, haha.
