Far Away Royale by Avon

An absolute masterpiece. A dark, dense, balsamic, smoky, and spicy vanilla of brutal quality in an Avon bottle. Delicious. Try it before buying because it is a gem for everyone. Very mature with an elegant yet imposing aura. It leans more towards Dior Addict than Hypnotic Poison.

Personally, this is one of Avon’s fragrances that has maintained its quality. The notes are very prominent, especially the vanilla and amber which are the stars. The longevity is excellent and it lasts more than 10 hours on clothes. Good for any time of day, depending on the number of sprays.

I tried it on recommendation and it smells like something an old lady would wear; it is invasive, gave me nausea in a closed room, very strong, dusty, and the vanilla smells rancid. Now I am afraid to try Hypnotic Poison because people say it is similar to this one.

It is a rare and different perfume. I love the opening: spicy, fresh, and balsamic. If it stayed like that, it would be my favourite in the Far Away line. However, after an hour I like it less because a sweet aroma (Madagascar vanilla and Peru balsam) mixed with a green note appears that I do not like; it is like a tangled green branch mixed with a sweet that does not combine. I would prefer if it stayed in the opening or dried down to a more woody scent. Although many reviews say it is intrusive or scandalous, it does not seem so to me. It is wearable in cool weather, but not for jeans, rather for being well-dressed. It is not youthful, but serious or dark. To clarify, the Madagascar vanilla is not gourmand, but deep and dark, far from edible scents. The longevity is strong for the first 2-3 hours and then drops significantly; by 5 hours it is barely on the skin with that green note wrapped in sweetness that I do not like. I would recommend it to those seeking something different, exotic, and non-commercial. I think it is unisex, although my husband says it tends to be feminine; I believe if he had tried it without being told it was a women’s fragrance, he would have thought differently. The bottle is pretty, elegant, and I love it on the dressing table. P.S. Edited after trying it several times.

So many good reviews but I simply cannot stand it and I find it hard to sell because it is not a fragrance that pleases at first glance. It is very different from the others.

Today I want to talk about its longevity and the similarity many see with Hypnotic Poise… Let’s see: the opening is intense and lasts about two hours. Then it fades, and by five hours it’s skin scent. Projection and sillage? For the first two hours, then it drops… Similar to Hypnotic Poison? Hmm, no. I don’t see it. Perhaps they share notes, but it’s not the same. It is definitely strong, exquisite, like a designer fragrance and not a catalogue one. I tested one on each side and definitely not. In the opening it’s more potent than Hypnotic, but when it settles to skin scent, it loses out to Hypnotic which, although soft, lasts longer on the skin. Mind you, this is my experience; for others it might be different (pH issues). In summary, it’s a very rich, sophisticated perfume of great quality, and the best part is that it’s affordable and worth it.

Aayy Avon, now you’ve really scored a 10 with an honourable mention, you’ve done yourself proud with such beauty. It’s like entering a Buddhist temple with a thousand sticks of deliciously smoking incense, an ode to majestic and elegant orient, with an exquisite halo of mystery. Very in the style of MAGIC NOIRE by Lancome, a NU by YSL, but more like ABSOLU by ROCHAS. Myrrh, vanilla, and Peru balsam are the notes I’ve detected, but above all the smoky myrrh, which is one of my favourite aromas. I’ve bought three bottles and I’ll make sure to buy many more of this immense richness. I’ve definitely adored it, love at first sniff! The most wonderful thing is that it smells like millionaire luxury and at a laughable price! It reminds me so much of my beloved DIOR ADDICT. It’s like lighting up inside a censer and becoming ecstatic in a bath of resins, incense smoke, and anointing oneself with magical unguents from a mystical orient.

This perfume is a jewel, Avon’s latest great success in quality and longevity. My mum has it, she applies it in the morning and by midday you can still smell it in the hallway. It’s an oriental vanilla scent, very rich.

That perfume is truly impactful and luxurious! It is super similar to Vanille Fatale by Tom Ford. It lasts over 8 hours on my skin and projects for about 3 hours. Very well constructed, perfect for lovers of high-quality vanilla: here you find a boozy, elegant and prominent vanilla. 10/10.

If you are thinking of this perfume expecting something sweet, it is a resounding NO. It smells of incense and myrrh. I detect a vintage aroma and zero gourmand notes.

Far Away Royale and the word ‘sweet’ do not belong in the same sentence. I did well to try it before wanting to buy it, as I read wonderful comments and then ended up… confused. A totally intense and strong perfume down to the bone, vintage, nothing modern or youthful. I know there is no age for perfumes, but I picture an aroma typical of an older lady. Under no circumstances should you buy it blind. It doesn’t suit me and I would not recommend it.

Investing in this perfume is a good option: it is elegant and accessible. For me, it was love at first sniff; you can really smell the vanilla and myrrh. It will make you feel distinguished; you can sense the woody, talc, and leather notes, uuuuufff, it is a delicious explosion. That said: PLEASE TRY IT BEFORE BUYING IT.

Undoubtedly, coriander, jasmine and vanilla are the main notes. It is very long-lasting, persisting just as strongly from the first moment for hours and leaving clothes scented. It is very special; I consider it more gourmand or spicy than floral, so it isn’t for everyone. It is a very good perfume with an exquisite combination and quality. Highly recommended. PS: I suggest trying it before buying.

Smells like an expensive perfume. I don’t know the Tom Ford one, but it reminds me of Dior’s Addict, just more vanilla. It has a lovely trail and longevity. It doesn’t feel youthful; I’d recommend it for women aged 25 and above.
