Despite having a simple formula and the typical base Gorilla uses everywhere, it’s now one of my favourites. If it were totally natural, it would almost be perfect for my taste. It depends on the skin; I imagine an unsuitable one could be disastrous. In my case, it’s far from smelling unisex; what predominates is the incense and vanilla. It’s warm, a strange blend of spirituality, femininity and seduction.
It has impressive staying power. I received a sample with a Lush order and the first contact was disconcerting, but once applied to the skin, I was instantly smitten. It smells of jasmine and white flowers with a powdery and sweet base, very feminine and sensual. It also has a hint reminiscent of incense.
Probably my favourite perfume. If you like white flowers, oriental scents, Nag Champa incense and intense fragrances, Sikkim Girls will captivate you. The neroli, jasmine and plumeria are well balanced, with none dominating. Although only these three flowers are mentioned, there’s a noticeable resinous and woody base, like Indian incenses, probably sandalwood or bejuí. It’s a crafted base that adds great complexity and quality. I don’t detect vanilla, despite some websites mentioning it. The result is a mysterious, mystical, dark and romantic fragrance that should be much more popular. I haven’t smelled anything like it. You might like it if you enjoy Lust by Lush, but Sikkim Girls is on another level: more complex with that woody oriental hint.
I have a small bottle and it just doesn’t quite convince me. It’s very concentrated, and although I adore neroli, here they seem excessive. If you’re looking for something floral, strong, with a hippie touch, this is for you.
I tested this in summer and found it far too potent for the heat, so I’ve saved it for now. At first, it smells like soap—those white florals from the 90s (24 Fabourg, I’m being serious). Then the soap fades and it explodes into plumeria and sweet neroli, an exuberant scent that transports me to southern Mexico. After three hours, the intensity drops, leaving a vanilla and resinous base reminiscent of Tom Ford Noir. It lasts until the next day: beastly projection at first, then settling into a pleasant cloud. It’s floral, cheerful and feminine, ideal for any day. However, in the final phase it loses freshness and becomes very oriental, which takes off some points. I think it would shine more in spring or autumn than in winter. I recommend it to neroli lovers, though it’s more complex than a standard floral. Pleasantness: 7/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 5/10
