  • Green and fresh opening, a quality fougère with incredible realism in the cypress and fir alongside mint and lavender. It’s a pity it doesn’t last long enough; after an hour, that wonderful note fades into a very common dry-down of woody base notes that adds nothing. A miss. The longevity is good (6-7 hours), but the projection is weak.

  • Green and fresh opening a quality fougère featuring hyper-realistic cypress and fir alongside mint and lavender. A pity it fades so quickly; after an hour it becomes unnoticeable and settles into a very common woody base that adds nothing new. Not recommended. The longevity is adequate (6-7 hours) but the projection is weak.

  • The latest from Penhaligon’s a perfume I didn’t know existed until a friend at Julia de Andorra recommended it. It is the quintessential fougère perfectly capturing a tranquil spring morning in an English countryside. It is wholly green herbal and mossy with mint basil and lavender providing freshness while cedar cypress and hyssop add that herbaceous touch. It evokes walking through a field with freshly cut grass smelling of nature and fresh air. It feels very natural. While it doesn’t bring anything new to the fougère genre the quality of the ingredients shines through; if the price isn’t an issue go for it. The longevity is correct for this type of fragrance lasting around 5-6 hours on the skin with moderate projection.

  • Penhaligon’s latest release, which I didn’t even know existed until Julia in Andorra recommended it. It’s a pure fougère that captures that spring morning in an English field: green, herbal, mossy, with mint, basil, lavender, cypress, hyssop, and cedar. Smells like freshly cut grass and fresh air, very natural. It doesn’t bring anything new to the fougère genre, but the quality of the ingredients is evident; if the price isn’t an issue, go for it. Lasting power is decent for the gender, around 5-6 hours on skin with moderate projection. Scent: 6.5, Longevity: 6, Projection: 6, Versatility: 7.5.
