It’s terrible; simply, the fragrance doesn’t last at all; you can apply quite a bit and by midday no one will notice you’re wearing any perfume.
I had it custom-made at a fresh shop at a very accessible price and it was my first Antonio Banderas perfume; although its longevity and sillage are rather weak, you can’t ask for much given the price. The perfume isn’t bad, and I agree with my friend Julián that it resembles 212 VIP by CH a lot. The one that is more similar to One Million is The Golden Secret, which I didn’t own but tried. Anyway, a good option for those who want 212 VIP at a low price, provided you bear in mind that sillage and longevity are poor, potentially reaching moderate levels with a bit of over-application. Cheers.
It’s an option for those who like One Million but something softer. I even think it’s better than 212 VIP. It’s very good, unfortunately the projection and longevity are very low. I’d like to try Halloween Man by Jesús del Pozo, which I’ve been told is very similar but with better longevity.
In general, the SECRET line smells very rich and the price is accessible; the only drawback of the entire line (The Secret, The Golden Secret, The Secret Game and The Secret Night) is that they don’t last at all. They disappear just a few minutes after application. Which takes away all their merits. What a pity for the aromas. I wouldn’t recommend them.
The Secret: I consider it a rich fragrance with a good aroma, starting with spices, between sweet and a hint of spice. In its middle phase, which arrives quickly within two minutes, you feel the warm spice alongside the cinnamon. Its initial trail is moderate for an hour, and the following three or four hours it’s soft, slightly with a bit more reach above the skin. It works very well in winter. I prefer it for everyday wear, daily use. In my personal experience, women like it, but it doesn’t quite enchant them. Very good price. I recommend having a budget fragrance and smelling good without spending much. Scent: 7/10 Value for Money: 7/10 Longevity: 6/10 – Moderate Sillage: 5/10 – Moderate Presentation: 6/10 Overall Personal Rating: 6/10.
I’m not sure whether to say that The Secret by Banderas is a clone of One Million. It has something of that, certainly, but it’s not as loud or tacky; its edges are more polished and it recalls many modern mass-market fragrances (I even get a hint of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male). The opening is wonderful, very spicy, with cinnamon and grapefruit taking centre stage, along with a touch of mint. The Secret evolves into a sustained leather note, with the cinnamon bringing everything to life and a certain metallic-sweet nuance. It is, without doubt, very well constructed and I feel it targets people over thirty rather than the youth. What disappoints me most is that, out of all the Antonio Banderas perfumes I’ve tried, this is the weakest in terms of performance. The trail goes from moderate to very subtle within an hour, and then lingers, but in a much less obvious way than with other fragrances from the house. The scent is definitely top-notch for a drugstore fragrance; it smells much more expensive. With bolder performance, it would have been a must-have.
It was a gift. A very generic and common aroma, low concentration, lots of alcohol, and it doesn’t last at all. I used to use it on furniture and curtains before travelling or after cleaning carpets.
What a pity they reformulated it; it lasted much longer before. Now, with luck, it reaches six hours. It’s a shame. The scent is exquisite and very reminiscent of fragrances from that era, sweet and festive. Previously, it was ideal for going out at night, but now, after the reformulation, I only recommend it for everyday wear.
Not bad at all, but its biggest flaw is the longevity… on my skin it fades very quickly.
Smells exactly like Versace Dreamer.
It has earned me compliments. I find it similar to Carolina Herrera’s 212 VIP, but with a touch less personality.
I didn’t expect much given the price, but it exceeded my expectations. The scent is pleasant and reminds me of the sweet cinnamon rolls I used to have in Mexico. Perhaps my taste is anchored in the past.
50% clone of One Million plus 50% clone of Le Male JPG = The Secret by Antonio Banderas. It smells good, doesn’t last long, and costs very little.
Of all my perfumes, this is the one that lasts the least: it doesn’t even reach an hour before disappearing. The scent is lovely, but it fades faster than a cologne, almost like 4711.
If you’re looking for something budget-friendly for a night out on a date, this one delivers. It doesn’t last long or project much, but for €14, you can’t ask for more; it smells great and beats other options at this price point.
Clone of One Million. Supposedly a party scent, unisex at the very least. I don’t feel comfortable with these perfumes. I prefer The Golden Secret from Banderas which is almost the same price.
I had my father smell it and he didn’t like it; it smells sweet with anise, like a pharmacy. I gifted him one from the Catalogue which smells much better 😂.
Bought it blind and was pleasantly surprised. They already knew it resembled the 1 Million and they were right; it’s about 80% identical. The difference is that One Million has a more intense cinnamon note, whereas this is less creamy. I loved the scent, and even better for the price. People say it’s for dates, but I wouldn’t recommend it for that reason as it smells like 1 Million and you’ll just think of your ex. Ideally suited for daily wear in cold weather. Lasts 5 hours with moderate projection for 2-3 hours.
Bought it blind and it was a hit given the price. On skin it lasts 4/5 hours, projecting well for the first two hours without being overwhelming. It’s a sweeter, less intense version of One Million. Totally recommended.
Another gem from AB in my collection, the 3B: good, pretty and cheap, though I feel it’s half-baked. It lacks the quality of the The Icon line. It’s for intimate moments, sweet and boozy. The pepper opening sounds very synthetic and odd to me, but within 30 seconds the good stuff kicks in: a sweet dry-down with a leathery base, more suede than leather, and no noticeable mint. It’s linear, evolving very little. Lasts 5/6 hours, but I’ve noticed bursts at 10/12 hours (perhaps due to maceration after a year in the cupboard). Not a beast mode, but it lingers hours later. Lasts longer on clothes. Projects well for half an hour before settling close to the skin, soft and not intrusive. The resemblance to 1 Million is relative; I don’t feel it’s the same, perhaps only in the opening. I haven’t tried The Golden Secret to compare. Ideal for dates or going home, neither formal nor casual. Works well in cold weather, day, night and spring, but burns out quickly in intense heat.
It’s a good perfume; for its price, you can’t ask for more. Its longevity hovers around five to six hours and it projects fully for the first hour, then fades a lot. I see it as a perfume to use on cold days and especially if you are meeting a girl, not for outings with friends or parties as it’s not made for that. I give the perfume a good 8/10 for its price and good scent. I bought it in its 50ml version to see how it was and I loved it; when it runs out, I won’t hesitate to buy the 100ml version.
For my nose, perhaps not very refined, the ‘air’ of One Million is very evident. It seemed sweet and fresh at the same time compared to other sweet scents like The One or Uomo by Ferragamo, which are denser. Ideal for dates.
I bought it in its 30ml version and I liked it quite a bit, creamy and elegant to my taste. Pity its longevity and projection, but nothing that can’t be fixed by re-spraying. I use it to go out at night to shop or stroll. That said, it lasts longer on clothes; I picked up a jumper after a few days and it still smelled, haha.
(I clarify that the sample I have is over ten years old and my review might not be entirely accurate). First of all, the longevity is insane; I sprayed a few to test it and twenty-four hours later I could still smell it, I think nowadays perfumes like this are called ‘beast mode’. Its scent isn’t like many people describe it; I feel mint, pepper, and a citrus at the opening that I’m not sure exactly which one it is, then in the dry down it becomes sweeter, ‘ambery’, and only then can you faintly detect the air of One Million, very light. However, in the dry down, the cinnamon and a touch of wood/leather start to appear. I love the bottle, it looks like something Bruno Diaz would use. And finally, the price, it costs around thirty dollars and seems relaxed for what it is, 100% recommended.
Ufff, what a beast of a perfume from A. B! I have two bottles and it’s a brilliant mix of One Million and Le Male, with mint and leather. It lasts quite a while, about four or five hours. I have one 200ml and another 100ml, and I dare say I don’t know why the 100ml ones last longer… Anyway, good perfume.
This perfume is special because it’s the one I wore at my wedding in 2011, so I always try to buy it. The scent in 2024 is still the same: a sweet leather with cinnamon and mint, which is really nice and everyone likes it (even though I don’t usually like strong leather scents, this one being sweet makes me love it). The problem is that it no longer lasts or projects. You can only notice it if you put your nose right against the skin. That’s why it used to be for special nights, now it’s for daily activities where surely no one will notice it unless you are greeted up close.
This is the worst fragrance I have ever smelled; it repulses me. As soon as I applied it to my skin, I had to go wash my arm because I couldn’t stand the smell of this rubbish.
I bought it to gift to my dad; it smells similar to One Million but with a sweet middle note that makes me feel sick. I find it more of a night scent, not too strong, which is a plus. Its price is low and accessible, so it’s worth buying or gifting.
Good cologne, sweet with a strong hint of cinnamon. The atomiser is excellent. It lasts about six hours on the skin and between three and four hours projecting. For the price, it’s a very good cologne.
Over 10 years ago (I don’t remember the exact dates) I started buying perfumes without realising I was building a collection; I simply wanted variety for work. Usually, I bought inspiration perfumes like Fraiche, Perfumes Factory, Perfumes EF, etc. Since my finances weren’t very good, I ended up with around 7 fragrances. The Secret by Antonio Banderas, from now on TSAB to avoid writing the full name; it was the first designer or rather artist perfume I bought. I remember feeling very good, it was like an achievement to be able to treat myself to something original; I didn’t even know it was similar to One Million, which I had already tried since my father-in-law owned one at the time. Nor did I know that AB perfumes were categorised as cheapies; for me, it was like buying my first Dior or Chanel. Later, after emigrating to another country, I bought it again because it was what I knew. Setting aside the story and the sentimental aspect this perfume brings me, now let’s get to the review: TSAB is a very, very pleasant perfume; if you haven’t tried many perfumes in your life, this will stand out in a very pleasant way. I won’t go into notes as I dislike those pseudo-experts who in their lives haven’t smelled ambergris and detect it as if they were bloodhounds, plus everyone detects aromas differently. It has a seductive, sweet, masculine, pleasant style that won’t disgust anyone, nor is it difficult to understand or tolerate. It’s perfect for short dates as it doesn’t last more than 6 hours, with someone who will be right next to you since it doesn’t project much or feel strong. I won’t go into notes as I dislike those pseudo-experts who in their lives haven’t smelled ambergris and detect it as if they were bloodhounds, plus everyone detects aromas differently. As a good cheapie, its performance will never stand out, but it’s an excellent option for those teenagers who can’t afford something more potent and long-lasting and need something to help them conquer. Note: it will never beat a gourmand in that regard, and it’s also likely that someone who has smelled many men with One Million might find it unpleasant. As I mentioned at the beginning, it’s supposed to be a dupe of that Paco Rabanne. TSAB is completely recommended for novices; if you are more advanced in the perfume world, I don’t think it would be a good addition to your collection. I, after having sniffed over a thousand fragrances, and despite the good memories of this perfume, wouldn’t add it to my collection again; maybe I would try One Million again and settle for that, even though I’m not a fan of the brand. We’ll see. It’s not very versatile; as I mentioned before, it’s good for dates, also for the night or cold weather; in summer and heat, I don’t see it as very wearable, but I’m one of the crazy ones who would use it anyway if I fancy it. Aroma: 8/10 Longevity: 5/10 Price: 8/10 Projection: 6/10 Uniqueness: 6/10 Usability: 6/10
To be honest, I bought it purely because of the hype. If you like One Million, then yes, but not really after that. I think it’s more suited for guys aged 27 and above (don’t worry, that’s not an insult). It projects nothing, literally; I have it and use it at home for sleeping, but not for going out because I feel there are better options. The Icon EDT or the Elixir would make you feel more comfortable as they are scents that are easily liked, and I think more so than this. Scent: 7/10, Longevity: 6/10, Price: 8/10, Sillage: 4/10. Note: I have the 200ml version of The Secret.
If you don’t like sweet perfumes, don’t buy it, it’s extremely cloying. If you over-spray, you’ll smell it on your own nose for a while. I didn’t like it at all, but it’s a matter of taste. As a perfume, it looks good and lasts about 5 hours. For those who like sweet perfumes, go for it… I wouldn’t use it for everyday wear, but rather for special occasions…
Very rich and sexy aroma, but the truth is its longevity and trail are very low.
Sweet fragrance without losing the fresh touch, rich.
I had it when I was a teenager, a very good perfume for going out… lasted almost an entire party… plus it was cheap.
It has that something similar to 1M, but I wouldn’t say it’s a cheap alternative to this. The price is very good, the scent is quite pleasant, sexy, and inviting. If you’re looking for it for parties, I’m not sure if it’s the best alternative because it doesn’t project much, but if you’re looking for a pleasant and sweet scent that invites people to get close, it’s a very good alternative. I see it as an attractive fragrance. Its longevity should be between 5-7 hours, quite acceptable. For its price, it’s a good choice. It has brought me compliments from the opposite sex, so it’s good for that, hehe.
The first time I wore it, I felt that classic ‘Banderas touch’: a sweet, spiced, slightly mysterious hit. It’s one of those perfumes that don’t aim to be complex, but rather pleasant and seductive, almost like an ace up your sleeve for an impromptu date. Notes: opening of grapefruit and fleeting mint, heart of cinnamon and pepper with a nearly gourmand touch without being cloying, base of soft leather, woods, and an enveloping vanilla hint. The transition is fairly linear: starts sweet-spiced and ends sweet-woody, with no big surprises. Occasions: ideal for cool or mild evenings, dinner outings, first dates, or a drinks plan. In the office, it can come across as a bit sweet if you over-spray, but with moderate sprays, it holds up. Performance: 4-6 hours on skin, moderate projection for the first hour then more intimate, a short-to-medium trail that works better at close range. Value for money: very good if you can get it at its usual price: affordable and delivers. Don’t expect premium designer quality, but within the Banderas range, it’s one of the most interesting. Similarities: vaguely reminiscent of Paco Rabanne’s 1 Million in the sweet-spiced part, but in a much softer and more accessible version. Personal opinion: it feels comfortable and fulfilling to me; it doesn’t stand out for originality, but it’s a good all-rounder when I want something sensual without spending my ‘big guns’. What does my lady say? ‘Smells nice, good for going out for a drink, but she doesn’t go crazy for it. It’s more ‘charming’ than elegant.’ In summary, The Secret is an easy-to-use fragrance, affordable, and with a seductive air without complications. Ideal for those starting in the perfume world or looking for something simple for the night. Is it worth it? Yes, if you find it at a good price. Who is it for? Young men or those wanting a sweet and spiced touch without spending a fortune.
A friend owns it, and I can totally detect the DNA of Armani Code Profumo or the new Code EDP. Nothing like One Million.
Pleasant and rich, similar to One Million but softer… suitable for a 15-year-old. Outside of that, it lacks punch and longevity. I think it lasts a bit longer than its sibling, The Golden Secret.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t last long, but I’d recommend it for boys aged 13 to 18 for school in winter.
