  • One of the best musks I’ve tried, a classic from The Body Shop and cruelty-free. Lately, I’ve noticed an earthy note, not sure if it’s the vetiver, but I like it. It has great longevity, a lovely trail, and makes me feel comfortable.

  • One of the best musks I’ve ever tried, a The Body Shop classic and cruelty-free. Lately, I’ve noticed an earthy note, possibly vetiver, but I like it. It has excellent longevity, a great trail, and makes me feel comfortable.

  • The current White Musk doesn’t even remotely smell like what I bought 25 years ago; they must have reformulated it, which is a shame. It no longer leaves that lasting trail it used to. Just two sprays on the neck with the cap applicator meant you could smell it all day until the shower or laundry. Now it’s inferior.

  • The current White Musk bears no resemblance to the one I bought twenty-five years ago; they must have reformulated it, which is a shame. Previously, two sprays on the neck left a trail that lasted all day until you showered or washed your clothes. It’s not the same anymore.

A few weeks ago I thought of White Musk and how a friend always carried it over twenty years ago. Today my partner told me his sister had gifted me a perfume because it gives her headaches due to her sensitivity and migraines. I was filled with hope. Which one would it be? Then he pulled out a small bottle of White Musk oil, the round one in the photo. I’d never noticed it before but decided to try it. I put a single drop on my neck and wrists and realised: I can’t stand it, it gives me nausea. I waited, tried to remove it to see if less quantity (though it was only one drop) would let it settle, but no. It became more bearable only because it was less perceptible, not because it improved. What anguish. How is this possible? I didn’t remember it like this with my friend either; when she wore it, it was soft and long-lasting, not my style but it didn’t provoke this in me. Now it smells like when you enter a courtyard where cleaning has gone too far, dumping perfumed floor cleaners into the bucket. When this happens, I try not to breathe until I reach the lift because it bothers me. It seemed so strong and aggressive. Could it be that I’m sensitive like my sister-in-law? Of course, I returned the bottle so they can gift it on or throw it away if they wish.

A few weeks ago, I thought about the White Musk my friend has worn for over twenty years. Today, my partner told me his sister gave me a perfume because it gives her headaches due to sensitivity and migraines. I was filled with excitement. What could it be? Then she handed me a small bottle of White Musk oil, the round one in the photo. It never caught my eye, but I decided to try it. I put a drop on my neck and wrists and realised: I can’t stand it; it gives me nausea. I waited a bit, tried to remove some to see if a smaller amount would help, but it didn’t. It only became more bearable because it was less perceptible, not because it evolved. What anguish. How is this possible? I didn’t remember it smelling like this either; my friend found it softer, even though it lasted longer. It wasn’t my style back then, but it didn’t cause this reaction. Now it smells like when a cleaning company leaves too much scented floor cleaner in the bucket. When this happens, I try not to breathe until I reach the lift because it bothers me. It seemed so strong and aggressive. Could it be that I’m as sensitive as my sister-in-law? Of course, I sent the bottle back so they can give it away or throw it away.

  • I bought my first bottle of White Musk when the brand was unknown, about 27 years ago. It was plastic, small, white with a black cap and a long applicator, designed to use its wonderful oil with moderation. It was a miracle that smelled divine, lasting until the shower and on clothes until the wash; that bottle lasted an eternity… Then, with the reformulation, they killed the wonderful essence of what it once was. What a pity, today it’s a want but can’t, it doesn’t even come close to what it used to be.

  • The best musk. Delicate, not animalistic, yet it awakens your wilder instincts. It blends with your skin, mixes with your pH, and voila… It’s brilliant, simple yet standout.

  • I’ve always had the oil version. My relationship with this fragrance is a bit of a love-hate affair; I use it and forget it at times. Sometimes it can be piercing, perhaps because it’s synthetic. It’s said men adore it as it reminds them of sexual pheromones… Use it sparingly, a single drop is more than enough!!!

  • It’s a staple in my wardrobe. I always have it and occasionally pick up the gel and body milk too. I love all its variations: from the mist to the oil. My family know that if they gift me a White Musk pack, they’ve got it right. I own other musks, but only one oil I bought in an Arabic perfumerie in Muscat comes close to surpassing it.

  • It’s my wardrobe classic. I always have it and buy the gel and cream from time to time. I love all its versions, from the mist to the oil. My family know that if they gift me a pack of White Musk, they can’t go wrong. I own other musks, but this one beats them all except for an essential oil I bought in a perfume shop in Muscat.

I don’t know what’s in this perfume that I can’t stand. I bought it because of the excellent reviews and even smelled it on blotting paper before deciding, thinking perhaps that mixing it with others might make me like it more. When I wore it, I truly couldn’t tolerate it; I probably won’t use it again. What a pity.

I don’t know what’s in this perfume that I can’t stand. I bought it against my will after reading good reviews and even sniffed the blotter before deciding, thinking it might suit me better mixed with others. But once I wore it, I truly couldn’t tolerate it. I probably won’t use it again. What a pity.

Finally I visited The Body Shop and tried their fragrance; I loved it. Its sweetness, soft trail and longevity wrapped around me and I soon bought it in oil. I really liked it and will use it for quiet outings where I need olfactory peace, that’s its essence 💖. Update: another fragrance that has earned me compliments. Yesterday my family and acquaintances wouldn’t stop saying I smelled superb 😄. Highly recommended ✨👍🏻

  • Cosmicgirl

I love it. As a perfume perhaps it’s not my favourite, but using the lotion and shower gel is another world. It gives me that clean base I adore and on top of that I can layer other fragrances while keeping that soapy musk touch. It drives me wild.

Finally, I tried it at The Body Shop and absolutely loved it. Its sweetness, with a soft trail and good longevity, wrapped around me, and shortly after, I bought it in oil form. I really like it for casual outings where I need some olfactory peace, which is exactly what this essence gives me 💖. Update: Another fragrance that has earned me compliments. Yesterday, my family and acquaintances wouldn’t stop saying I smelled super good 😄. Highly recommended ✨👍🏻

  • Can a vegetal scent smell animalic and an animalic one smell clean? White Musk embodies these paradoxes. To me, it smells like clean musk, slightly sweet with a touch of animalic. It’s calming, soft, and comforting after a shower, ideal for travel and hiding away in the hotel after a tough day. It evokes childhood memories, something maternal that wraps you in warmth. Moderate trail and about four hours’ longevity on my skin (EDT version) if applied generously. It’s not much longevity but enough to help me relax before bed. Scent 6.5/10, Longevity 4/10, Trail 6.5/10, Value for money 6/10, Versatility 5/10, Packaging 6/10. I’d probably buy it again.

  • Can a vegetal scent sound animalic and an animalic one, clean? White Musk is this paradoxical. To me, it smells like pure musk, sweet with a touch of animal. It calms me; it’s soft and comforting to close out a hard day after a shower. Ideal for travel and meetings, it creates a bubble of peace in the hotel that helps me disconnect. It reminds me of childhood, that maternal hug that wraps around you. The trail is moderate and lasts around four hours (EDT version) if applied well. Not eternal, but enough to help me relax before bed. Scent 6.5/10, longevity 4/10, trail 6.5/10, value for money 6/10, versatility 5/10, packaging 6/10. Would I buy it again? Probably yes.

  • Gemasevilla

Sweet and tender, drama-free. Smells freshly washed, almost like a baby. People notice and compliment it. I just wish the bottle were bigger and the scent lasted a little longer, I swear that’s all.

  • What have they done to White Musk?! A friend used it three decades ago and I did two. It lasted a long time and projected a lot. I went back to try the EDT in a shop, and although the assistant tried her best, I only noticed alcohol at first, barely a hint of fragrance. She tried to fix it, assuring me it smelled better on skin, and referred me to the oil which I rejected; I didn’t know it was an old perfume friend. I thought as it dried some trace would appear, but nothing: if there was any scent, it vanished quickly. I kept the little paper thinking my nose was tired, but hours later it smelled of nothing absolute. White Musk was mortally wounded. This is today’s fate: paying more for worse products. RIP White Musk, it was a pleasure to have known you.

  • I was gifted this essence in oil and perfume versions and I’m delighted; it was a surprise. At first, I thought it disappeared quickly and wasn’t very convinced, but then people commented that it smelled great or if they had changed their fabric softener, and they were right: it smells like clean musk with something of iris at the base. I use the new version (glass bottle with speckled white cap) as the old one is discontinued and it doesn’t affect me. It’s a fragrance that makes you attractive instantly; I’ve received compliments from men. I use it as a base with other fragrances, it works well on men and women, no age range, from teenagers to adults. It’s for daily use or as a signature, any season. Although they say the old one was a bomb, the longevity hasn’t let me down, lasting half a day. I’ve liked it; it’s a ‘simple’ but effective essence.

  • They say classics never go out of style, and this is what happens with musk fragrances. White Musk is a timeless favourite, with good trail, reminding one of clean and tidy places. It brings me childhood memories of my first fragrances. It suits any age, although due to intensity I only use it in cold climates because the heat overwhelms me.

  • The White Musk from The Body Shop is the scent that has captivated me most of almost everything I’ve smelled; it’s an absolute top ⬆️⬆️⬆️. I never knew how to describe ‘musk’ because it smells similar in all of them but different at the same time; since I was small, I categorise it as a ‘blackberry’ smell 🍇 (perhaps a nonsense for experts xD), and this is the best at that 👌.

  • Love at first sight for me. Smells clean with a sweet floral touch. Although it leans feminine, in the right dose it’s unisex. It has now been reformulated and watered down, but fortunately, the White Musk from Aire de Sevilla is the clone that most resembles it in longevity and scent. I’ve tried several musks.

  • Monty Phyton

Pure animalic musk with a slight woody halo. Iconic, long-lasting, attractive, and clean. I left the bottle to macerate for two years and it improved in trail and longevity; it hasn’t turned brown, still the same. Same with the Body Mist. Both recommended, there’s nothing else like it. 9.5/10.🔥

  • Retrofuturist

Super clean and pleasant aroma; I’ve received many compliments. Both the body mist and eau de parfum have excellent longevity and projection. It’s fresh yet warm, which is why it’s my favourite fragrance for before bed.

  • I love musk essences and thought this wouldn’t be the exception. I liked it, but it doesn’t quite convince me; it smells strong and a bit more masculine, perhaps due to the animalic notes. It has good trail and longevity, but I stick with Alyssa Ashley’s Musk and Avon’s Soft Musk.

  • I only have it in oil, and as a young man, it’s a beast. Smells super unisex, like shower gel or fabric softener, with that animalic musk mixed with soapy aldehydes. Perfect for any season. Comes with a neck stick and every movement releases bursts. When stock is available, I’ll get the body mist, though I fear it might lose that soapy touch and become more floral. A total find.
