Descripción

Y Eau de Parfum by Yves Saint Laurent is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2018, this composition was created by Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent. The top notes unfold with apple, ginger and bergamot; the heart reveals sage, juniper berries and geranium; while the base settles on amberwood, tonka bean, cedar, vetiver and frankincense.

Smells like a mix of the lemon hand wipes you get in restaurants to clean your hands plus a pine/forest car air freshener. Nice, pleasant, functional scent, but excessively priced.

  • A great all-rounder fragrance, more than adequate. Goes well for everyday university wear and even for going out at night. An arresting scent that gives a feeling of cleanliness.

  • This perfume gives me dizziness and headaches. It smells lovely but feels very heavy to me. I work in a restaurant, and literally from behind the bar, I can smell someone wearing this from over eight metres away and identify them because I owned one until I sold it.

  • I don’t understand the hype. It smells like a nineties fragrance, boring, without personality, like something a nerd or a dull person would wear. But well, I’d rather that than people smelling like armpits.

  • Rich, pleasant, nothing that has driven me mad. Ideal for daily wear in hot climates (I’ve used it for sports). It smells clean, like expensive shampoo or soap. For that price, I prefer others.

Absolutely fantastic, though people do exaggerate. The trail is incredible but it doesn’t last a minute. Otherwise, the scent is an absolute bomb. The ginger and bergamot hit you instantly. Tremendous perfume; on my skin it performs even better. Simply suits me perfectly, a pity fragrances don’t last on me. The Parfum is equally impressive, and I adore this one. 10/10 I love it; I don’t care if it lasts ten seconds on my skin.

Let’s start with the obvious: yes, it’s synthetic. So what? It’s the most synthetic and elegant thing you’ll ever smell. It doesn’t try to be a niche scent smelling of a damp forest; it’s made in a lab with a single goal: to make you smell incredibly good, clean and modern. The opening is a solid, bright, juicy hit of green apple, mixed with spicy ginger and sage that keeps it fresh. It’s the scent of a man who has everything under control. It’s pure versatility: office, friends, date… it goes with everything. Without exaggerating, it’s one of the fresh fragrances that has earned me the most compliments. People love it, it’s magnetic and never offends. The performance is champion-level: it easily lasts eight to ten hours on me. The first two hours it projects like crazy, you’ll be noticed for sure. The third hour it drops a bit but remains present, creating a perfect personal bubble. If you want a workhorse fragrance that never lets you down and guarantees you smell good, look no further. This is the king. Just don’t expect it to be cheap.

  • A year ago I thought this was a scam: at that price, it lasted on my skin no longer than a fart in a basket and was gone after three hours. Today, for some reason I don’t understand (perhaps maceration?), I sprayed it three times at seven in the morning and could still smell it by seven in the evening. It’s now half past ten and if I lean towards my clothes, it’s still there. I walked for hours in the sun with the wind and was surprised by how well it held up. It’s not my favourite, but it’s no joke, brother: it’s extremely pleasant for those who notice it, impossible that anyone would dislike it, and it’s very masculine. It smells of crisp green apple, spicy from the ginger yet sweet at the same time. It suits almost all the year, except days over 28 degrees when you’ll suffocate whoever is beside you. Buy without hesitation.

  • One of the most complete and versatile designer fragrances I’ve tried. From the first use, I was surprised by its balance between freshness and elegance, with a modern touch for any situation. The opening is vibrant: bergamot, ginger, and apple that awaken the senses. It smells clean and sophisticated, like just out of the shower, with a more interesting fruity-spicy base. It feels young, dynamic, and has good projection. As it evolves, sage, geranium, and juniper emerge, giving it a masculine and aromatic facet that I love; it retains freshness but gains body and maturity. This is where it shows its versatility: day or night, office or going out, it always works. The base with tonka, vetiver, and amber leaves a warm and sweet trail, well-balanced, not heavy but with presence. On my skin, it lasts 8-10 hours, projecting strongly for the first three. What I highlight most is that it always smells good: clean, safe, modern, and well-constructed. It has that commercial DNA that everyone likes, but with superior quality. It’s the ultimate all-rounder. Scent: 9.5/10. Evolution: 9.3/10. Longevity: 9/10. Projection: 9/10. Value for money: 9.3/10. Final score: 9.4/10.

  • Scent 9/10, longevity 6/10 (for the price). I could have saved five times the cost with its near-exact dupe, ‘Yeah! Man’ by Maison Alhambra. What a shame.

  • If I put it briefly and being a bit blunt: it smells like green apple soap. It doesn’t evolve much from the opening to the dry down, but it’s a noble scent that never fails. Despite the notes, it feels versatile and fresh; there’s no loss, but it doesn’t surprise much either.

  • Villefragance

An expensive and overhyped perfume; the DNA tires the nose. Dylan Blue smells much better than this, for example.

  • HolaSoyRengar

There isn’t much more to say: it’s easy to like, versatile, and has good performance. On my skin, it lasts 8 hours, with notable projection for the first hour (more than an arm’s length) and then maintains a moderate aura for another 4 hours, sitting close to the skin at the end. It conveys freshness and youth, fitting almost everywhere except very formal events. It’s an ideal basic for the day, the office, or school. My only drawback is to avoid it in extreme heat, as the sweet base can become intrusive. In three words: versatile, youthful, and accommodating. Rating: 8/10.

  • Lucapereirafitperfumes

An all-rounder perfume for any occasion, very versatile. It’s nothing extraordinary but it fulfils its function. It’s rich, masculine, and complimentary. The performance isn’t the best but it’s not low either; just right and sufficient for 6 hours. The trail dominates everything for the first two hours, then obviously drops. I really like it; I recommend buying blind.

  • It seems wonderful to me, ideal if it’s your first perfume or the only one you own. You can use it daily, for dates, at the office, or for any circumstance. I really like it; it lasts between 9 and 10 hours and projects a lot. The price isn’t bad at all, especially the 200ml version, as the price per millilitre approaches that of an Arabic perfume.

  • A good fragrance, good performance, versatile, fresh with sweet nuances but without becoming cloying.

  • It’s a super versatile Yves Saint Laurent blue. I really like it; it’s designed for any occasion. Perhaps it’s slightly overhyped and didn’t blow my mind, but it conveys elegance and sobriety. It reminds me of a young man stepping into adulthood, dressed semi-formally. At first, it smells synthetic, like green apple soap, but then it evolves: clean, attractive, and with a seductive touch. It’s very accommodating and leans more towards a female audience. Suitable for ages 20-40. Performance is 6-7 hours, projecting well at the start before fading. Scent: 8.5/10.

  • Eau de Parfum is a contemporary classic. It completes the triumvirate of blues with Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel. These three will define our era, just as Acqua di Gio did in its day. It follows the fougère script: citrus top, aromatic heart, and a wood base with tonka bean that adds sweetness, which is the least I like. It’s super versatile: office, afternoon, night, any season. It feels less youthful, leaning towards over 30. It lasts about eight hours on skin and much longer on clothes. Anecdote: one drop on the wrist with a silicone watch and it lasts a week. As a downside, they are very overused, just like Bleu and Sauvage, but like Acqua di Gio in the 90s, they are authentic fragrances that transcend. A man’s collection must have one of these three. The price isn’t excessive for a top tier today.

  • Nicomandressi

Ideal for everyday wear and the office, it projects a sophisticated image. It smells fresh without being cloying or intrusive. The green apple notes mark the beginning, then fade according to skin pH. The bottle is elegant, though the packaging isn’t as refined. It lasts 6-7 hours on skin with 5 or 6 sprays. The bergamot refreshes, the ginger spices it up, and the woody base with tonka bean balances it all. It’s herbal, with a slight sweetness, but above all fresh and citrusy. Perfect for summer or autumn, though it also works well in winter without being too heavy for night. For young adults aged 23 to 40. Reasonable price for the quality.

  • Absolute stunner, the definition of versatility. I got a weak batch on performance; several confirmed it. It’s a great option, but given the price in Argentina today, it’s worth considering Arabic alternatives, especially Maison Alhambra, which I liked more; it reduces the ginger sting and boosts the green apple sweetness.

  • It’s a proper stunner, fresh, sweet, smells clean, projects brilliantly, lasts a good while, and is super versatile. I wore it for a party, work, class… it never fails, a compliment bomb.

  • One of the best blues. Excellent longevity, compliments guaranteed, and good quality. The only drawback is the price.

  • GUISPIMAMANI

After trying it carefully, I conclude it’s not the big deal, despite being super hyped. I almost bought the original but went for the Arabic dupe ‘Yeah Man’. At first, it seemed mediocre, not evolving or projecting; I thought the YSL original wouldn’t smell like this. I went to the official store and tried the original: it smells the same as the Arabic version, synthetic and not much more. Yes, the original projects more and is a bit deeper, but at first glance, they are the same. I’ve tried better blues. My recommendation: if you’re a fanatic, buy it, but for me, it’s not the big deal.

  • CrankCesarmc

I love it; it smells very clean and soapy with a touch of green apple, spectacular. I wear it in winter and it suits the cold perfectly, not intimidated by low temperatures. I can’t wait to try it in the heat, where I think it would stand out even more. It’s a 10/10; live the hype.

  • I fell for the hype and thought it would be spectacular, but after smelling it and the Fahkar Black (which is identical), I say it’s a forgettable aroma with almost no projection. It smells clean but synthetic. It’s not ugly, but for the fortune it costs, I expected something that would urge me to buy it immediately.

  • Rich, fresh, versatile, nothing cloying. 100/100 blind buy, my favourite fragrance, simply exquisite.

  • What more is there to say? After wearing it daily for two weeks, I haven’t received the compliments promised, not even from my girlfriend, yet it’s an absolute stunner. The opening is a juicy apple that gives a boost, the dry-down is a creamy cleanliness, and it settles into wood with ambroxan. I recommend it to everyone; even if you can’t afford the bottle, buy a decant and experience it. It’s my favourite fragrance, it lifts my spirits. If you’re looking for something for any occasion or weather (avoiding extremes), this EDP delivers. Blind buy? Yes, if you don’t mind spending, although at £1,000 it’s pricey (here in Argentina). I’d go for an Arabic clone that replicates the scent, though sometimes they smell off at first. This is the Stephen Curry of fragrances: it never fails.

  • Batch 2024 performs well and leaves a trail; my partner asked what it was and loved it. However, compared to earlier versions, the ingredients smell more synthetic and the quality has dipped.

  • ikamikamika

I tried it in the store with my boyfriend and truly hated it. It must be because it reminds me of an old man… But my comment isn’t meant to offend its users; I’m young and I understand that this fragrance was at its peak in years when I and my boyfriend weren’t even born. It’s pleasant to a certain point but it evokes thinking of elderly gentlemen.

  • Aka_Kaiser22

I won’t reinvent the wheel, but this perfume is THE KING in capital letters and will remain so. It’s the quintessential clean, daily, versatile blue. If I had to go to a deserted island with only one scent, it would undoubtedly be this. It performs in all seasons (perhaps it loses a bit in winter as it’s a blue), but the scent is so bright and the performance so good that the season doesn’t matter. Office, gym, dates, events… it covers everything; it’s the winning horse. Forget about Fakhar Black or Odyssey Megas. Those perfumes where people ask what you’re wearing. The Ayrton Senna of scents. Absolute number one.

  • I bought a 150ml refill as a blind buy. A common and ordinary scent, scarce longevity. It has too much hype.

  • Perfect balance between sweet and fresh. The apple and tonka bean provide a sticky sweetness, while the incense and cedar in the background give it that masculine and elegant touch. Receives compliments left, right, and centre and never fails. A must-have in any man’s collection. A solid 9/10.

  • Oscarreckhardt

@ikamikamika but do you have three years? Are you that young? The perfume is from 2018, a very modern blue. It’s rare to associate it with that. I’ll tell you a Sauvage and reluctantly accept it if you’re 18 years and 3 days old; it seems like three years is a lot for you when one is young, time flies… since we’re on the subject, something about the perfume: This blue is a pleasure (especially to women), YOUTHFUL (I’m turning 43), fresh, pleasant, fruity aquatic, with a sweet base, very good projection although rated moderate, and acceptable longevity: around 7 hours. As a good blue, it serves for any occasion. It’s a mix between Dylan Blue, Sauvage, and Invictus Parfum. It doesn’t turn my head, but it’s rich.

  • It’s the best fragrance I own; everyone likes it and you can use it for any season and any occasion. It will generate plenty of compliments, it lasts a long time, and projects very well. It’s definitely a blind buy.

JOLLY RANCHER IN A BOTTLE: Yes, it’s unusual but interesting. I went to buy a regular perfume, saw this amidst all the hype, and decided to give it a try. Wow, the initial green apple note is indeed synthetic and quite noticeable. At first, I didn’t like it, but as it developed, I could perceive how it ‘caramelised’ and that slight synthetic tone faded until it smelled exactly like a green apple Jolly Rancher; I know no one will tell you it’s gourmand, but that’s what I felt. The evolution was curious and very well executed: that slightly gourmand sweetness of the apple blended with sage and geranium in a sparkling, bright bouquet thanks to the juniper berries. Again, my mind thought of a wedding; that light, soft floral scent with a gin & tonic in hand and that stubborn apple sweetness made me say: wow. After many hours (around 8), I felt the base: it was about 40% sweet to my mind, with woods and incense; the other 30% was a floral scent that lingered with an almost imperceptible hint of that green apple. What surprised me most were the transitions between top, heart, and base; the top lasted, by my calculation, up to 2 hours, then the heart for about 4 or 5, and the base for quite a while, around 6, although here the fragrance feels softer and softer until becoming almost imperceptible at around 8 hours. But each stage leaves a residue in the next, and that blew my mind. If I may, I’d say yes, it’s a gem for daily use, but not in summer, and certainly not if it’s a very intense summer. In my opinion, that sweetness can be quite overwhelming with much heat (it happened to me too). My rating: Scent: 10, Longevity: 10, Projection: 8 (Note, it’s not beast mode, but it lasts and projects quite well). Total: 9.3.

If you’re looking for ‘versatile’ in the dictionary, you’ll find a picture of this fragrance; suitable for any occasion and any month of the year. Totally recommended, whether for yourself or as a gift, because it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t like it. Although for my wallet it’s a bit pricey, I think it’s totally worth it for what you pay, plus the longevity and projection are more than decent, lasting easily a full workday, an afternoon with friends, a special event, or a date.

  • Quick: Versatile, masculine, fresh for daily wear and a safe bet for a blind buy… a surefire hit if you don’t want to search too much.
