Yeah! by Maison Alhambra

The performance is inconsistent; sometimes I feel they swap the bottle. Inspired by Y EDP, it’s not identical but the tone is almost the same: apple, ginger, and that classic clean touch. It gets compliments, it’s all-rounder for any occasion and weather, unless you’re heading into freezing temperatures, as the fruity notes struggle a bit in the cold. I’d buy it again, though among dupes I prefer Halloween Mystery. Scent 8/10, Price 10/10, Projection 7/10, Longevity 7/10.

I don’t understand why people say it fails on projection; the first two hours leave strong trails on the arms. Longevity is low, about 4 to 5 hours maximum, but for the price it’s worth it—I bought two bottles, haha.

For dupes, you need to compare with the base fragrance. I have both, the Y EDP by YSL and this one from Maison Alhambra. They’re almost identical. Unlike many Arabic dupes, this is quite good, perhaps because the original smells very synthetic and here the ingredients are cheaper. The only difference is that Yeah Man smells more intense at first but doesn’t last as long. For the price (I’ve seen it for $18), it’s totally worth it; I’d even say it’s worth having more than two.

You might be wondering if it’s worth spending over 100 euros on a fragrance. This is an excellent Maison Alhambra interpretation, well-executed, though with some differences from the original. It comes in at roughly five times the price of the OG. It would be brilliant if they released a 150ml or 200ml version to really put the foot down on the trigger.

Upon opening it, I thought: no way, these Arabs copy even the box embossing and colours; they’ve gone too far with this copy. I was left with little of the original Y and decided to try this hyper-affordable fragrance bomb. It’s very similar; the original Y has a more shocking opening with lots of ginger that gives you a headache, and it wouldn’t last me more than five hours until I felt ashamed to reapply such an expensive scent. This Yeah is for that; it’s for spraying without fear, walking around with a decant and reapplying whenever you want, and enjoying it for the price of a Nautica Voyage. For its price, there’s no point criticising the Yeah; it’s very well done, and it is in the dry-down on skin where they match most closely.

I was short on cash and just wanted to smell like Y EDP until I could afford to buy it again. The scent is 90% similar in vibe, but it lacks refinement and feels extremely flat. It emphasises the apple note more than the other dupe I reviewed (Odyssey Mega) without losing the herbal-aromatic aspect, so it could be considered a better dupe in terms of aroma similarity. Regarding longevity, projection and sillage, it’s rather poor: lasts 4 hours and 15 minutes strong, decaying to moderate, and by an hour and a half it’s very soft, almost imperceptible. Projection is about 30 minutes at arm’s length. Sillage is moderate for the first 15 minutes and then, to be fair, quite soft. For the price, it’s a good option if you want to smell like Y EDP quickly and don’t mind applying 15 sprays initially, then 6-8 every two hours. But don’t expect more than that. It loses the elegance of Y EDP due to the lack of refinement, so it’s relegated to daily wear and close encounters only.

To start, I picked up Y by YSL a week ago, a fragrance I’ve always liked but, to be honest, at that price point, one reserves it for special occasions. I’ve always wondered if Yeah Man was a good dupe or pure nonsense, so after buying the original, I decided to try this one, with a clear idea: to use the DNA of Y without fear of triggering my wallet on a daily basis. Now, let’s get to the point. Do they resemble each other? Yes. And they do so immensely; they’re almost indistinguishable. If you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering whether to spend half your salary on the designer or go for a more accessible alternative. To settle the matter, I did the classic test: one spray of Y by YSL on one arm and one of Yeah Man on the other. Quick conclusion: they’re 90% similar. And when I say 90%, it’s almost identical in scent, just not identical. Where is the difference? The Y by YSL feels more intense, with better quality and depth. It has layers, more shine, a more polished and opulent feel. The notes are more discernible; everything is better constructed. Yeah Man, on the other hand, is more linear. The scent is there, the DNA is there, but without that depth. It’s as if you took the smell of Y, mixed it strongly with alcohol and left it flatter. It’s not ugly by any means, but it’s noticeable that it’s a dupe. The opening on Yeah Man is a bit more synthetic, alcoholic and diluted, but watch out: after about 15 minutes, the scent is practically the same. That’s where you say, ‘okay, it delivers.’ Performance: no surprise here; the performance is inferior to the original Y. It projects and lasts less, feeling more moderate. It’s not bad, but it doesn’t compete head-to-head in this regard. Conclusion: If you want the DNA of Y by YSL for daily use without guilt or fear of spending, Yeah Man is a totally valid option. It doesn’t replace the original 100%, but for the price, the similarity and suitability for daily wear deliver very well.

Ultra-synthetic ambroxan, sweet and loud, typical of Arabic perfumes, with apple and sage notes at the start, but a synthetic and generic dry-down that doesn’t appeal to me. For the price, one can’t ask for more, but I don’t see it as a worthy substitute for YSL. Edit: I realised it’s my skin that’s the problem; it highlights the synthetic aspect. On clothes, it smells exquisite and fresh, without the ambroxan dominating and everything balanced. Bad luck on my part; it happens with several perfumes.

It was one of the first I bought when I started collecting, looking for something blue and versatile. I saw on TikTok that it was similar to Y by YSL EDP and was encouraged by the notes and the hype. I went to smell the original to be sure, and they smell almost the same, with that green apple, sage and incense vibe. But until today, it hasn’t fully convinced me because it feels very synthetic (one can’t expect much from a $20 fragrance). If you want to smell almost like the original without spending, buy it without hesitation; you smell clean and elegant. It’s my personal opinion; perhaps it’s my nose. Ask if you want to know more!

Good dupe, resembles the original quite a bit, though the Arabic version is more synthetic, but then as it dries down it picks up its own personality. It’s easy to wear for daily use, lasting between 4 and 5 hours. A good perfume for the price.

I tried this Yeah Man! dupe of YSL Y EDP in a decant and decided to buy it. For under £20, it’s worth it. At first, the YSL smells better, but it costs five times more. After 15 minutes as it dries, they are practically identical (I tested them at the same time on each arm). The longevity surprised me: six hours with about an hour of projection. Don’t be alarmed; for the price, reapplying is painless, just like with the YSL. I recommend it 100%.

I had the old version that just said ‘Yeah’, it ran out, and I bought the new Yeah Man; it’s very good, with no notable differences. It’s a mix between Y EDT and Y EDP because the apple note feels more diluted and fresh, and honestly, I prefer it. Very good quality, almost identical to the original. Someday I want to smell them blind with reviewers and surely they’d get confused, although videos say people notice a difference. The YSL line is synthetic but rich, just like Yeah. It smells like designer without fear; if it doesn’t last, reapply at five hours. In the USA, the original costs $100 and this is $14-18, which is ridiculous.

Amazing perfume (Yeah! Man). I had the chance to try the YSL Y EDP and it’s identical. Very good longevity on my skin (I use moisturiser): more than nine hours close to the skin and good projection (about two hours). I let it rest (‘macerate’) to improve the aroma and performance, as many recommend. I’ll surely edit this in a month to report if it improved.

Opening: surprisingly good. Dry down: cheap tonka bean, disgusting. 🤮
