Everything changes, everything flows, but there are scents that stick. Putting this fragrance back on hits me straight: dark and deep, yet with an inner warmth that holds you captive. I feel pampered once more. It is intense and decisive, yet like a firm hug from someone who truly cares, or a caress from someone who genuinely appreciates you. What a beautiful sensation. I am talking about Uomo by GianMarco Venturi, that green bottle from 1987. It is an Italian classic of the eighties, elegant and charismatic, herbaceous and very green, with a bitter touch that unfolds its magic naturally, without arrogance; discreet, but it rises if you overdo the spray. On the skin, it is a different story: it merges with you and creates an almost magical halo. It is like walking through a fresh, aromatic forest where the sun does not reach, and suddenly you open into a sunlit clearing filled with pure citrus and floral water—pure magic. Venturi has managed to create something within everyone’s reach, yet few know how to wear it well. A nearly unknown treasure, a silent witness to an era and a style that only he could provide.

  2. Italian perfumery holds hidden treasures that are hard to find unless you are there. GMV Uomo is one of them, thanks to Jerry Drake. Like all art, a perfume is the reflection of its time and society. GMV was born in the late nineties but lives spiritually in the eighties. It is an austero fern, loaded with oakmoss, soapy nuances, and a light fruity touch that sets it apart from typical men’s fragrances. It is well-constructed, oscillating between the formal, the fresh, and the romantic; it is addictive and unusual. It is a mature interpretation of the fern. Modern perfumes often try to shine easily and superficially, but GMV Uomo is for people who understand life, who do not go for nonsense and look at things with honesty. It conveys that feeling of a serious, worldly person—fun, yet capable of sinking into the mud when necessary. Good performance and a sense of quality. Brilliant.
