From MiZNAR Essencials and composed by Christel Gaven, Brutalist Oud arrived in 2026 as an Oriental for women and men alike. Its premise is contrast: weighty raw materials kept under disciplined control.
Despite the formidable title, there is plenty of light inside. Warm spice, blossom and resin are balanced so the severity never quite closes in.
Black pepper, cardamom, saffron, oud wood and neroli shape the first impression. The effect is arid and spiced at first, lifted by a fresh, almost citrus brightness.
At the heart, Damask rose meets lily of the valley, pine and Cosmone. The rose gives the bouquet its colour, lily of the valley lends clarity, and pine contributes a cool, resinous green note.
Amber, patchouli, oakmoss, coffee, vanilla and white musk form the foundation. Roasted coffee is rounded by vanilla, grounded by the earthy dryness of patchouli and oakmoss and finished with a neat musk.
The broader character favours rose, amber, warm and fresh spice, white flowers and earthy, green touches. It is this play of dry versus smooth that defines the fragrance.
Best reserved for evenings and colder months, it asks for a light hand. With wear, the initial crispness relaxes into something more mellow, yet the outline stays firm.
