Salum Parfums launched Midnight Diving in 2026 as a woody aquatic fragrance for women and men. The nose behind it is Luca Maffei.
The theme is swimming after midnight: a cool, ozonic surface, then darker green water, then a rich, balsamic depth. It favours shadow over sunshine.
At the top are marine notes, bergamot, aldehydes, pepper, Timur pepper and airy notes. The impression is mineral and windswept, brightened by citrus and sharpened by spice.
The centre pairs jasmine, patchouli, seaweed, violet leaf, lily and neoprene. Lily and jasmine lend a pale floral glow, seaweed and violet leaf bring a damp, vegetal coolness, and neoprene adds a distinctive rubbery, technical facet.
The base centres on oud wood, leather, vetiver, myrrh and ambergris. Vetiver lends a dry, earthy frame, leather introduces gentle animalic character, myrrh offers balsamic roundness and ambergris sustains the saline finish.
The overall palette runs from aquatic and ozonic to aromatic and ambery, with white floral, leathery and warm spicy inflections. Contrast, rather than simple freshness, drives it.
Worn, it reads as layered and composed: brisk and saline to begin with, floral-marine at its core, then mellow, woody and quietly resinous.
It will appeal to wearers who favour unisex marine-woody compositions, enjoy seaweed, violet leaf, patchouli and vetiver, and like leather, oud and ambergris balanced by white flowers.
