No. 905 Mystic Amber by Depot is a men's Oriental centred on amber. Expect a mellow blend that leans sweet, woody and balsamic.
After a fresher, lightly spiced introduction, it softens into vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood, a creamy thread that runs to the finish.
Top notes are bergamot, ylang-ylang, coriander, opoponax and myrrh. Bergamot lends brightness, ylang-ylang a buttery floral facet, coriander a green, aromatic lift.
Opoponax and myrrh already hint at the resin-led character, laying a balsamic warmth under the opening and easing the scent towards its richer middle.
The middle brings together amber, labdanum, vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood. Labdanum deepens the resinous side, vanilla and tonka bean turn up the rounded sweetness, sandalwood keeps the texture supple.
The drydown features ambergris, labdanum, vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood. Ambergris gives a soft, enveloping depth while the woods stay smooth and the vanilla holds. Best kept for chilly evenings and cold-weather dressing, worn close for comfort.
