The composition explores the meeting point of liqueur-like fruit and soft sweetness, resting on a distinctly balsamic base.
At the top are alcoholic notes, prune and davana. Prune lends a full, stewed-fruit character, while davana introduces a herbaceous, gently aromatic lift.
The middle places cognac alongside rose, tobacco, cacao and labdanum. Here the rose provides freshness and poise, balanced by the depth of tobacco and cacao.
The base brings together tonka bean, opoponax, benzoin and burnt sugar. Burnt sugar gives a caramelised, toasted sweetness, rounded by the warmth of opoponax and benzoin.
The general impression is ambery, sweet and warmly spiced, with supporting facets of tobacco, roses, woods, cacao and balsam. The vanilla element sits within the resins rather than apart from them.
As it develops, the scent shifts from fruity and spirited to dense and cosy, finally resting on a smooth, resinous sweetness.
