The history of La Prairie begins in 1931 at Clinique La Prairie, a Swiss centre on the shores of Lake Geneva, where Dr Paul Niehans developed new ideas for skin care. Beiersdorf acquired the brand in 1991. Since then, La Prairie has focused mainly on treatment cosmetics and its own research into skin longevity.
In perfumery, its catalogue is related to body care and fragranced products rather than an independent collection of perfumes. Among its products is Energizing Mist, a body spray with fragrance and moisturising effect; the rest of the range is distributed across lines such as Skin Caviar, Platinum Rare, Pure Gold and White Caviar.
