To me, Al-Khatt is the best Xerjoff perfume (at least of those I’ve tried). To start with, it features the most exquisite, crafted, and sensual jasmine I’ve ever smelled anywhere. It’s a battle between two actors: a wild oud clashing head-on with this idyllic jasmine, and from that collision emerges something special, captured by a benjoin that acts as a supportive base. An accord is created between them and the other notes, resulting in something unique. An elegant, unisex fragrance of rare quality that deserves to carry the banner of its price and remain worth it; class and elegance without falling into austerity. It pleases everyone when it drifts in the air. Rating: 10/10.
I noticed comments about this perfume when ordering a sample from the official house. I don’t understand much about notes or olfactory families, but I love perfumes and the images they conjure. With this, I expected a good hit of jasmine, but no, it wasn’t the jasmine that impacted me; it was a tremendous stable-yard smell!!!! But a stable-yard where you leave with your shoe sole stained, and as you walk, that smell follows you. I waited for it to dry, waited hours, and the perfume wouldn’t stop smelling. Undoubtedly, this house uses select ingredients and every fragrance seems spectacular to me. But this smell simply didn’t suit me.
This one does have an oud that smells like poo at first. Loads of jasmine and vanilla mixed with that faecal note at the start. After an hour, the poo side fades a bit; it was a risky investment, but the payoff is a very pleasant, sweet, woody oud. A far from conventional fragrance, highly recommended; I think the aromatic assembly is flawless. Of course, if you sniff it close, the poo note lasts about two and a half hours and is noticeable, but the sillage is delightful. It feels exotic and daring, sweet without falling into the vulgarity of tonka bean, coming from vanilla and beyond. Perfume opinions are highly subjective; my humble take: Khatt is floral, exotic, elegant, and with a sensual touch.
It is probably one of the top five Xerjoff fragrances. An indolic jasmine, literally another level.
