I don’t know the original Megamare, so I’m reviewing only Aqua Pura: a powerful opening, salty and marine although not declared, ending with a slight medicinal note that isn’t annoying. It’s not a typical watery freshie; it’s super long-lasting and masculine. It smells rich, on par with an Acqua di Giò, with that marine vibe; perhaps due to the calone and musk like Essenza? It could be a flanker of ADG; I don’t detect much incense or know if it’s deep, but it smells delicious with a more palatable commercial touch.
After three weeks of use, it smells of a harbour, oxidised metals and wood dampened by the sea; it’s fresh, slightly sweet and very pleasant, certainly outside the mainstream. Nobody will smell like this, but the performance is average, lasting around 5-6 hours with a projection of about a metre for only the first two hours, then it becomes a skin scent. That’s why I wouldn’t recommend it and would look for other Megamare options like Megara or Atlas, though I haven’t tried them; they are said to have better longevity.
It’s my second fragrance from this house and smells like clones of Megamare, such as Atlas. It sticks well to the skin without being aggressive; it feels mineral and fresh with nothing dirty. Since I own Stallion 33 (Santal), I notice a similarity between them, likely a common ingredient from the manufacturer, much like cooking in a Thermomix where dishes taste similar despite different ingredients. I hope that component settles down over time.
