  • Excellent fragrance… Woody and spicy, with a just-right touch of pepper and soft leather, with a balanced presence of lavender and a light musk base… Masculine, serious, and sober. To be used in cold weather or at most on spring nights, better for serious occasions, though not elegant ones. It’s quite similar to the new Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée, a bit lighter, but without that liqueur-like whisky note and without the iris. Performance is excellent for the intended use… Moderate projection, nothing explosive, lasting between 6 and 8 hours on skin, up to 12 hours on clothes. It’s SPECTACULAR and SUPER recommended, with very competitive value… Hard to beat in its price range!

  • I picked this up at Christmas; at first, I thought it was an office scent needing some spritzing, but now it’s one of my favourites and I don’t need to add anything. The longevity is top-notch, the trail acceptable. It’s a manly and very pleasant aroma. Watch out: people often confuse it with Benetton Black EDP, but this is the Intense version, which is an Eau de Parfum.

  • Great fragrance, I’ve loved it. It smells manly, spiced, woody and I detect a hint of vanilla, even though it’s not listed in the notes. It lasted 5 to 6 hours on skin with three sprays, which is enough for me. Recommended for autumn, winter and evening, even for the office but not for daily use. Also, it’s very economical.

  • I think it’s a great fragrance; I loved it. It’s a masculine, spicy, woody aroma, and I even perceive a slight touch of vanilla, although the notes don’t specify it. It lasted around 5 to 6 hours on my skin, which is more than enough for my needs, this with three applications. I recommend using it in autumn and winter, and for late afternoon or evening, even for the office, but not for daily wear. Also, it’s worth highlighting that it’s an economical perfume.

A very good fragrance; some compare it to Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée, but honestly, this second one is superior, and they have their essence of whisky and amber which, minutes after the blast, is incredible and is what catches your attention most. In contrast, in this perfume, you feel more pepper; in the dry-down, it has a scent that makes you want to smell it many times.

It’s pleasant without being promising of compliments. I like that it gives the impression of seeking casual sex but lacking money, something like being the bad boy. A good starting point for this fragrance journey.

  • Very synthetic; I don’t like the smell much. The price is very accessible, but in the low-cost sector, there are things that cost the same and smell with greater quality. The longevity seems decent for what you pay. It reminds me of a perfume sold in a catalogue cosmetics magazine; I can’t recall if it was Avon, Tsu, or Violetta Fabiani. It’s not a new scent; I’ve smelled something identical back in the early 2000s. Personally, I don’t like it; I bought it blind, but if you can test it first, that would be better; you might like it. It’s strictly for winter use.

A simple and good fragrance, a reliable choice. It doesn’t have the best longevity, but it’s economical, a blend of peppercorns with a vanilla base, which is flattering on occasions, especially when you get close. Projection is medium-low. I recommend it for informal occasions and slightly cooler climates.

  • A spicy and powdery fragrance. It’s agreeable and generates compliments. It has an ‘elegant’ profile. It projects better with the heat of the skin. Its target is the office or night outings. Preferably in cold climates. It’s linear from start to finish. It reminds me of a Prada Black whose name I’ve forgotten. It’s a compliment-getter and won’t disappoint you. That said, it’s not a profile everyone wants to wear, but given the low price, it’s worth it.

I bought this to compare it with the Benetton Colors Man Black… and watch out, the EDP version doesn’t last or project like the EDT. This one is darker, with a rubber or tar note that suits me well. However, the projection is almost non-existent; it stays right on the skin, so it’s best for personal enjoyment or close-range wear… more suitable for night than day. It lasts about 4-6 hours on the skin. The EDT, while not crazy on projection, smells more ‘powerful’… which is often the case with ‘Intense’ scents, which are frequently the opposite of what the name suggests. I wouldn’t recommend buying blind; you might or might not like it. I enjoy it, but I’ll keep it for myself because with this, people won’t smell you much on the street… for that, I have the Moschino Toy Boy, Kenzo Homme EDT Intense, Pure XS Night, or Givenchy Gentleman EDP. Those who say it smells like Givenchy Gentleman EDP are probably confusing it with the EDT, which also doesn’t resemble it to me, but the INTENSO is nothing like it… the Givenchy is powdery vanilla (orris), the INTENSO smells of rubber or tar, and I don’t detect any declared vanilla… whereas the Givenchy’s vanilla is obvious from a mile away. I think the EDT does carry vanilla and pepper, but neither the opening nor the dry-down resembles the Givenchy… at least on my nose. The one that does remind me of it in the dry-down is Bentley for Men Intense (another scent that should have been called ‘Intense’ when launched, because current batches don’t smell intense at all)… although it’s liqueur-based, it has a powdery vanilla dry-down with the difference being the alcohol. The one people say it resembles is BVLGARI BLACK… which also has that rubber or tar scent.

To be honest, the Fragrantica pyramid sounds odd: lavender, bergamot, pepper and amber? A woody family? It doesn’t smell aromatic to me. It’s an amber bomb from start to finish. I’ve tried old amber like CK Obsession (unisex, sometimes masculine) and modern amber like Yves Rocher Ambre Noir (very poor longevity). This Benetton Intense is closer to Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée than the Gentleman EDP. The EDP is a sharp black amber, almost leather, dusted with lily, spiced and reminiscent of Bentley For Men. The Benetton is darker, without leather, and although the Givenchy EDP has a sweet hazelnut accord that I don’t like, this Benetton reminds me of Chivas Regal 12-year-old whisky. For a third of the price, the ingredient quality is equal. It’s a clean, timeless and sensual amber. Highly recommended, easier to enjoy than its sister, Colors Man Black, which smells animalic and can be off-putting. A classic.

  • I was absolutely blown away by this Benetton fragrance; the brand has played its cards right and hit the jackpot. It’s a massive step forward. The opening is deep, dark, and heavily woody, with that distinct oud touch and a very masculine vibe. You can detect black pepper with a citrus hint. The projection is brutal for the first hour before settling into a heart of patchouli and lavender. The resins dry it down with an addictive, balsamic sweetness. It’s formal and manly. It reminds me of Gucci Absolu, and as it dries down, it evokes Givenchy EDP. If you enjoy sweet leather and wood fragrances like oud or patchouli, this is the one for you. In its price range, I don’t think any other scent can beat it today.

To be frank, the construction declared on this Fragrantica page seems strange at first: lavender and bergamot with pepper and an amber base? Woody spiced family? I don’t think it has much aromatic character. This is an AMBER bomb from start to finish, and what an amber. I’ve tried several fragrances in that family focused on resins. CK Obsession for women is quite polarising but I’d dare to use it from time to time as it feels more unisex or even leaning masculine. On the other hand, a good contemporary amber is Ambre Noir by Yves Rocher, which as Charlotinable says has good construction but its longevity is so low it’s obscene. The point is that a current and contemporary amber is what Benetton Colors Man Black Intense and Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privée present, the latter quite close to the Benetton. To be frank, this Benetton doesn’t remind me AT ALL of Givenchy Gentleman EDP; that one is a very sharp black amber almost reaching leather (due to balsams and South American resins like Tolu and Opopanax) very powdery with iris root, a bit boozy, and strongly spiced. It leans towards a darker use of resins and a construction I consider closer to leather, calling it a youthful version built with other notes from Bentley For Men (both created by the same perfumer). On the other hand, I find that the Benetton has greater similarity to Givenchy Gentleman EDP Reserve Privée, which I frankly find unpleasant due to a hyper-sweet accord between amber and hazelnuts but enjoyable for its amber and Scottish whisky part, a combination that reminded me of Chivas Regal 12-year-old, one of my favourite liquors. And to be frank, although the Benetton costs a third of what the Givenchy does, I find its construction more pleasant to my taste and better quality-to-price ratio as it is perceived with the same ingredient quality as those used by Firmenich by Givenchy (everything by Puig uses Givaudan). Likewise, I don’t consider it has a drop of leather. As a final line, it would seem excellent as a Christmas gift, even better to use it that same night, and I find it easier to like than its sister Colors Man Black which has an animal tone that can result in being unpleasant to inexperienced noses. A clean and straight amber is one of the most sensual and traditional things in perfumery, totally timeless. Benetton Colors Man Black Intense highly recommended.

  • Fragrance with certain similarities to its predecessor Colors Man Black. Pleasant and masculine. Since it lacks the oud wood that prevailed in the previous Black Intense, the patchouli gains more vigour. Otherwise, it has medium longevity and medium to low projection. I use it in the evening/night during winter with smart-casual clothing.

At just $18, it’s madness. If you mix Givenchy Gentleman EDP, Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Intense and a base of Man in Black, it’s very close. What a brutal perfume for $18? It’s a gem. Scent rating 7.5/10. Longevity is a bit weak: 8 hours on skin, by the fifth hour it’s just clinging, projecting well only for the first hour. Standard performance, 6/10.

  • Jorgeparfum14

For just $18 that I got it, it’s an absolute beast, completely incredible. If you want an idea, mix Givenchy Gentleman EDP with L’Homme Ideal Intense by Guerlain and, from afar, a base of Man in Black… what a great perfume for $18! It’s a wonderful thing. It’s ambered, spiced, woody, and balsamic; the breakdown of notes doesn’t do justice to the nuances. For me, it’s a gem and its price is madness. Easily this scent could be bottled by Givenchy, Dior, or Prada and sold for over $90. Aroma 7.5/10. Performance is weak but on my skin it reaches 8 hours; after 5 hours it’s skin scent and only projects well for the first hour then diminishes. Standard performance 6/10.

The only thing I’ll say: DO NOT BUY BLINDLY. It’s not an easy, crowd-pleasing, or wearable scent. It is purely masculine, nothing unisex. This is for men. It’s not a mass-appeal fragrance. I see it as for personal enjoyment. Those who like it will love it; those who don’t will hate it. It has an alcoholic top note that fades quickly in 2-3 minutes. Afterwards, despite being economical, the notes don’t feel cheap. In reality, it smells like a higher-priced fragrance. It seems suitable for fresh/cold climates. Under no circumstances for temperate/warm ones. I won’t speak of performance as I only tested it one day, insufficient to be objective. I don’t like it; it’s very different from its sister Colors Man Black EDT (that one is exquisite). More so, I wouldn’t say it’s bad. There’s something that doesn’t convince me, which is why I don’t recommend buying it blindly.

  • Dear gabi0nce, if you didn’t know, this is a decent forum where we share our opinions with respect, not insults or inappropriate language like yours. I’m sorry that Fragrantica moderators haven’t deleted your off-topic comment. A little respect and education, if you have any, please.

  • Friend gabi0nce, if you didn’t know, this is a decent forum where everyone gives their personal opinions but with respect, not with the insults and inappropriate language you use. I’m sorry the Fragrantica moderators didn’t delete your out-of-place comment. A little respect and education is asked if you have it, please.

  • The first time I had it with my less trained nose, I didn’t like it at all. Today I gave it another chance and I LOVE it. It’s not something that turns my head, but it’s a rich aroma for cold days. I wish it lasted longer like Colors Man Black, but well, at this price you can’t ask for more.

  • Excellent fragrance with a 100% masculine, sexy, elegant vibe and high quality, plus it comes with a top-notch atomiser. It smells spicy and intense with black pepper, leather, lots of patchouli, and lavender. It could be a flanker of Bvlgari Man in Black or Givenchy Gentleman EDP. Lasts 6 hours on skin (the last two hours are very close to the skin); on clothes it reaches 7 hours with the wind at my back and projects well for the first hour. Ideal for autumn and non-freezing winter days. Unbeatable quality-to-price ratio. I recommend the Special Set which includes a decant and helps it last longer.

  • Rich perfume! Masculine, spiced, and ambered 100%. Highly recommended for aroma, performance, and price. Reminds me of Gentleman EDP but it has its own path. In terms of longevity it does just enough, but at this price you can forgive it. For fresh days and nights. Rating: 8.0/10.

  • Excellent fragrance, 100% masculine, sexy, elegant and of high quality. It comes with a luxury atomiser. It smells spicy and intense with black pepper, leather, patchouli and lavender. It could be a flanker for Bvulgari Man in Black or Givenchy Gentleman EDP. Lasts 6 hours on skin (the last two clinging), on clothes it reaches 7 with the wind at my back and projects moderately for the first hour. Ideal for autumn and non-freezing winters. Unbeatable quality-to-price ratio. I recommend the special set with a decant so it lasts longer.

  • naso_en_ciernes

Intense and dark for men. Nothing for children or undefined tastes. I agree it’s in the style of Bvlgari Man in Black but with more punch than the current washed-out version. It opens potent and spicy, then evolves into a luminous, nocturnal, and elegant scent that is more resinous yet not serious or excessively mature. Surprising for the price it offers, just like its cousin Colors Man Black. Ideal for winter and daytime as I don’t see much projection for hectic nights. It’s a low-cost option that needs to be tested on skin. It has an DNA that could belong to an Arabic perfume but vibrates in a Western way. It dares to be dense without using dark woods. The longevity is decent but it has other strong points. Try it several times, preferably with a sample, to judge the real quality of this Benetton. Excellent price, good aroma.

  • It smells very similar to L’Homme Ideal Intense in its dry-down. It’s sweet and soft, but it doesn’t last long if you apply few sprays.

  • EnriqueSeguraJ

For the first few months, it smells like new nappies; horrible, not even for a gift. It oxidises a bit and becomes usable until it’s lovely; there are notes that aren’t delightful, but it improves from a -1 to a 7, and depending on taste, even an 8. It doesn’t last long nor project much, but what can you expect for $14 that left the tester new?

  • How different every nose is; every one is a world… cliché phrase but true. I thought it was excellent quality-to-price; the black bottle and the aroma… wow, it feels like quality, dark and woody, with a bitter coffee note. It doesn’t resemble Man in Black; it’s going another way, like a mix between Ted Lapidus Black Soul Imperial and Givenchy Gentleman EDP. It doesn’t have much projection but it grabs attention; it’s extremely masculine and characterful. One of my favourite budget buys; I bought the 200ml one on offer at Notino to have as a backup.

  • It’s not for me; I still haven’t got used to this scent. It’s intense and purely masculine, nothing youthful. Don’t let the price take you in; for me, it’s hard to wear, so it’s not a blind buy.

  • Not for me, I’m not used to this scent yet. It’s intense and purely masculine, nothing youthful. Don’t be swayed by the price; from my perspective, it’s a difficult scent to wear, so don’t buy it blindly.

  • OloresDePadreGrassi

If you had to define this fragrance breaking reality and science, the word would be: Sex.

  • Excellent fragrance for the price; literally, if you’re looking for winter perfume with good quality-to-price ratio, this could be on your list. It’s very masculine but with a youthful touch that makes it special.

  • It’s very strong and lasts a long time. Perfect if you like the scent, but it’s not for me. And watch out; it’s not a blind buy because you won’t be able to cover such a strong smell.

  • If you want to smell like an expensive fragrance, like Man in Black or original Spicebomb, but for a fraction of the price, this is for you. It smells dark, spicy, nocturnal, and dense, but very pleasant if you like oriental scents. For the price, it has no equal.

  • Marcos Carbajal

It smells strong like the hangover from your cousin’s wedding, dark as a new moon, and cheap as a kiosk empanada. But it’s worth it; you must have it in your collection. It doesn’t suit me (30s) but it does my dad (58s), and sometimes I use it myself. If you’re over 40, it’s cold, you’re going out in the dark, and you smoke a pipe, you’ve got to wear it, haha.

  • Mr.Mota70

I tried this at the supermarket and what a surprise! It smells spectacular for a price you won’t believe. I used to wear Benetton HOT and COLD from the 90s, left the brand years ago, and now I’m going to buy this one which smells expensive; it’s a delight.
