  De Profundis by Master SL is a granola of springtime aromas that fill the entire space. A precise symphony where the violet is the protagonist very pure and refined alongside green notes and that plum acidity. The incense is imperceptible to me but it must be key in this olfactory festival. Very fresh light refined sensual and daring it emanates everywhere. Literally you immerse yourself in the depth of a scent that stirs your senses. High longevity and enormous sillage. It is a scent to play with and use whenever you want to steal all the attention. Exquisite EDP. Highly recommended for women and men daring to explore floral aromas. Ranking 7/10.

It feels very pure and refined just like the green notes and that plum acidity. The incense is imperceptible to me but it must play a key role in this olfactory festival. Very fresh light refined sensual and daring it emanates everywhere. Literally you immerse yourself in the depths of a scent that stirs your perception. High longevity and enormous sillage. I believe it is a scent to play with and apply whenever you want to steal the world’s attention. Exquisite EDP. Highly recommended for women and men daring to explore floral aromas. Ranking 7/10.

  Exclusive being that I love I implore your mercy… De Profundis is a unisex that mixes death with the challenge of living. The key words are beauty war fear life and death. Once chrysanthemums were offered to death to clear cemeteries which explains this flower’s fixation in the fragrance which has lugubrious and crepuscular aspirations. It is more than floral: it features weeping omens lamentations and heartbreaks. It is a sublime eclectic and photorealistic beauty. The chrysanthemum smells of morning dew combined with violets green notes and earth evoking flowers under the rain—or better yet winter aromas: dusk mists rains fallen leaves and hail. It is pure beauty and melancholy. The incense does not dominate as much as the website claims but the fixation and projection are splendid. It defines a new vision of the blue floral accord. Each component balances organically in a cold nebulous atmosphere. Its only flaw is the price (€165 for 75ml) but it is worth it. An impeccable work by Christopher Sheldrake. A total delight.

  Exclusive being that I love I implore your mercy… De Profundis is a unisex fragrance that contrasts the course of death with the challenge of life. Keywords such as beauty war and religion are feminine in French while challenge art and love are masculine. Once chrysanthemums were offered to death to invite it away which explains the fragrance’s fixation on this flower as De Profundis has lugubrious and crepuscular aspirations. It is much more than floral: it features weeping omens and heartbreaks. In my opinion it is an authentic sublime and photorealistic beauty. The chrysanthemum alongside the violet green notes and earth evoke the scent of flowers in the rain—I would almost say it smells like a wet cemetery. While others associate it with spring I link it to winter: dusk mists morning rains leaves dragged by the wind and deteriorated by the downpour. It is pure beauty and melancholy. Serge Lutens says: ‘While this lives so does my death.’ In contrast I downplay the dominance of the incense. It boasts splendid fixation and projection a new vision of the blue floral accord. Each component balances organically in a cold nebulous atmosphere. Its only flaw is the price (€165 for 75ml) but it is worth it. An impeccable work by Christopher Sheldrake. A sheer delight to enjoy and try.

Petricor in a cemetery before All Hallows’ Eve: a dark-toned alchemist wanders among graves with a magnetic charisma that makes you wonder how something so beautiful can alleviate the most selfless pain: death. De Profundis is Oscar Wilde’s tears rage and fury—a sunset lightning bolt reflecting fresh chrysanthemums and violets the incense of someone’s final day… yet as its name suggests it is a radical raw and irrefutable love letter from the purest soul expecting nothing in return. Many scents are romantic but this plays in another league: it is dark brooding—the name that will echo in your final thoughts that of the person you will love forever. And yet far from seeming so it is so genuine that you feel fortunate to have known them. It is for those who have known true love and can carry that privilege and its sorrow in an irresistible way. Here feminine florals become a hard drink with olfactory memories of a wet cemetery; almost the hardest uncle/aunt fragrance to date. To the grave with me. Longevity: 8/10. Sillage: medium-short. Price: very high but it is poetry in a bottle if you can afford it. Feminine or masculine: exquisite for a woman but for a man it is the panacea of perfumes.
